Separate cottages of the hotel provide intimacy. Well thought out and maintained greenery: palm trees, cacti, banana trees, guanaste, flowering shrubs. In the middle is a swimming pool. Without leaving the hotel, we encountered the fauna of Costa Rica: sloths, iguanas, a herd of howlers and other monkeys, birds and colorful butterflies. Our suite was furnished very functionally. The entire facility was very neat and clean. We often enjoyed a very tasty pizza prepared on site. The hotel has a very good location. Portero Beach is right next door, and about 500 meters from the hotel is Penca Beach with yellow sand, almost empty at this time of year. There are two well-stocked stores and a fruit bazaar within 150 meters of the hotel, as well as several places to eat and a church nearby. The hotel staff was very knowledgeable, courteous and always available. They helped us resolve problems with the airline losing our luggage and with our car rental.

El lugar es hermoso. Muy cuidado y comodo. Ofrece mesa de pool, libros, piscina.

el tamaño de mi habitacion era bastante pequeña. Pero de excelente calidad.

Cabina muy cómoda y de buen espacio, las camas muy confortables y de buen tamaño (incluso el sofá cama). Cocina de la cabina bien surtida.

Hace falta una maquina de hielo para huespedes y talvez una expendedora de refrescos y snacks.

Schöne Familienvilla, ruhig und in der Nähe zwei wunderbarer Strände gelegen, schöne Anlage (Garten, Pool, Restaurant/Aufenthaltsbereich). Sehr smarter, freundlicher Juniorchef, der unsere jugendlichen Kids zum abendlichen Beachvolleyballspiel mit den Einheimischen am Strand eingeladen hat. Der Billardtisch kam bei unseren Teens ebenfalls gut an. Entspannte Wohlfühlatmosphäre.

Sehr schöne Gartensnlage, mit gemütlichen Liegestühlen. Es war immer möglich ein paar Liegestühle zu bekommen. Herrlich ruhig, perfekte Entspannung! Sehr komfortabel Betten.

Alles war wirklich toll und uns hat kaum etwas gestört. Apartment war etwas dunkel. Man könnte ein paar Bilder aufhängen.

Het hotel en onze luxere kamer zijn goed bevallen. Onze kamer was ruim en had een mooi terras met uitzicht op het zwembad. Dat is een stuk beter dan de goedkoopste kamers die vaak aan de achterkant en langs de weg liggen. Het ontbijt was goed. Er was elke ochtend keuze uit drie opties. Het hotel light op loopafstand van een paar lokale restaurantjes en twee stranden.

De manager bij de receptie was een rare vogel. Erg stug en totaal niet flexibel. Zelfs een paar kopjes om op de kamer koffie te maken kregen we niet te leen omdat er op de kamer geen koffiemachine van het hotel stond. Dat we zelf een waterkoker en oploskoffie mee hadden boeide hem niet. De kamers zijn erg gehorig. Omdat er vier kamers in een villa zitten kan dat overlast geven.

Great location - walk to Potrero beach, several restaurants, etc. The property is lovely - all the little villas surround a nice lawn and the swimming pool. Staff was friendly. A/C units are good.

The wifi is good in the rancho/central area, but pretty weak inside the rooms. Sometimes it was better on the porch. We were never without wifi - just sometimes had to go outside the room or to the central area to get it. Also we didn;t care for the policy that no outside visitors are allowed to even step foot inside the property - we were traveling with friends who stayed at a different property, and wanted to have them over for some appetizers and to sit and relax before heading out to dinner, and they were stopped at the front desk and told they could not come in because the property is only for guests. When we asked if we could at least just show them around, they said no. It was very odd and off-putting. (Hotel Esmerelda's loss - our friends were considering staying there on their next visit since it is a much better price than where they are staying, but clearly they won't now after that unfriendly encounter.) Also, it seems like maybe the staff are afraid of the owner or management? They came in and counted our towels each day, in a manner that leads me to believe they will be fined or in trouble if anything goes missing, and when my daughters took the pillows from the room in the car with us on a day where we were going to be doing a lot of driving (so they could sleep in the car), the staff seemed a little panicked. They came to the room after we returned to make sure we had brought the pillows back and told us we couldn't do that again. Whatever - but it seemed like maybe things like that get the staff in trouble when they have no control over that at all. Last thing - as is common on smaller places, there are no beach towles provided, and you cannot take the towels provided to the pool or beach, so you need to pack your own pool/beach towels. Again, not unusual, but just another thing to be aware of.
