When in the restaurant the staff were slow taking my order. At breakfast I had to wait ages before my order for a cooked breakfast was taken. It was assumed I was going to eat something before my order was taken. I didn’t eat anything after I had collected my coffee. I had to wait quite a while in the evening before my order was taken or I could pay! Other than that the food was good.

Lovely room with wonderful view. Large bathroom with bath as well as shower. Good sized towels. Heated towel rail so towels could be dried between uses. Breakfasts and evening meals were all very good. Good beer at a reasonable price! Slight problem with blown fuse - dealt with really helpfully by lovely night manager and daytime Receptionist.

Would have liked a little packet of biscuits to have with morning tea/coffee. Everything else was great!

The hotel needs updating.Our bathroom in room 115 was very dated and had a few things broken that cuold be easily fixed ( plug not on chain, toilet flush button missing, cold tap top missing and a really old and shabby blind in the window. In the restaurant at breakfast we noticed some bits of food left on the floor from the evening before. This is a lovely building with great features, a little bit of investment and care it could be amazing .

Food

We upgraded to a sea view room. It was a very large room and the view was lovely. Hotel is very central to the beach and attractions. Restaurant service was good and we enjoyed the breakfast.

The 2 rooms both had sea views and were very comfortable and clean. My superior romm was huge and well appointed.

Rooms were very dated, you could hear people talking no sound proofing any all very loud, creaking floorboard and toilet hit the door as you open it.

Location is excellent and all the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Rooms simple - but have everything you need and wifi works great. We were travelling with our dog and he was welcome in all areas except restaurant (you could eat in bar though). Finally and very grateful for this, but when we had to cut trip short, hotel was understanding and only charged us for nights stayed! Amazing!

Parking is a bit limited on hotel Premises, so we had to pay for parking behind theatre across the street. We liked our sea view but please note in windy days - will make some noise as wind hits building/windows.

My husband and I and our dog Mutley stayed at the Golden Lion as we needed a base for a few days whilst we visited some childhood memories The hotel is very comfortable, dogs are welcomed the only area that they cannot go in is the dining room. You can leave your dog in the room whilst you go to breakfast or you can eat in the bar area. Breakfasts were buffet style for cereals and pastries etc. Hot breakfast items were cooked to order, were tasty and very well cooked. Main meals were traditional pub fare, but good value. Our room was very comfortable, and was serviced every day. All the staff were really friendly, helpful and welcomed Mutley!! There is a car park for the hotel at £6/day, but there is free parking directly outside, you just have to be patient and wait until a space is free, but that was never more than a few minutes Top tip - We dumped the car and used the excellent bus service from the terminus in town using the coastal service to get to Kings Lynne and to have a good look at the countryside This is a well located hotel close to good beaches (old Hunstanton a 25 minute walk) and to drive out. We had a lovely stay here, I would fully recommend a stay here.

Breakfast! Very everpriced, coffee was awful, tasteless, becon hard, vegan sausage also dry and overcooked,same pouched egg. I wouldn't buy breakfast again, as massive waste of money.

Surprised that bed was not made during our stay. Queried this with reception to be told it was because we left our PJs on the bed - never experienced this before!

I emailed them asking about where to park, what time we could check in and what time the restaurant was open, they didn’t reply and when we got there we were told the restaurant wasn’t open and was only doing bar food. the room wasn’t clean and have taken pic of why.
