good idea of accommodation for one night - you live in a real castle, in cozy rooms
Be careful! You can only get to the castle by paying ferry for 57k per person. The paid ferry runs very rarely, we did not wait for the free one.

Breakfast was amazing! The freshly baked bread and fresh juice plus very good coffee was like a cherry on a cake!

The surroundings are beautiful and the staff nice
Getting there with several big heavy suitcases is difficult because of the gravel floor. A small path, woooden or tarmac, where suitcases could be rolled on would be great, if it were possible to put. The coffee at breakfast was really not good and a bit more variety of breads and some sweet options would be very good.

The room was beautiful, the breakfast good.
There is no stuff outside the breakfast time and stuff can't answer any questions f.e. about the ferries.
There are no wardrobes in the rooms.

We had to wait for the ferry that ran often to bring us over.

Just cool to live in an old castle. Well situated to explore other islands (be sure to make use of the free yellow ferries!). Good breakfast, staff were friendly and helpful.
3 years ago the little ferry to get to the island was free for guests at the bed and breakfast. It wasn't any longer, which is a hidden cost. 165kr return trip for one adult and child. Gets expensive after a while. Also, the last ferry leaves a bit early (19:40), so you have to make sure and time eating dinner with it.

Excellent location on a little island with historic castle, museum, armaments, wildlife and great views. Lots to explore and enjoy around the castle grounds. Spacious comfortabe rooms. Old world atmosphere and aromas. Fantastic breakfast which included lovely freshly baked breads.
Not that we didn't like, but be prepared for ferry or water taxi times for access to the island. Also for main meals, eat before you arrive. To be fair, you are advised about these things when you book.

It is very cool to stay in a fortress. The staff was very kind as well.
My room was quite dusty, and being on the first floor everyone could see into my room, especially at breakfast as the tables are in front of it. I was hoping to have a personal bathroom, but maybe these kinds of rooms don’t exist in Swedish hotels—not even toiletries were provided. I was disappointed at how loud and disruptive the other guests were. I would say my stay was not worth the money. Getting to the island was a hassle, but if you ask a local with a boat nicely at the marina, they might boat you over.

Convenient b&b in a castle. Easy 5 min boatride away from vaxholm. Both the room and breakfast were better than expected.

The apartment exceeded all expectations. Lots of places to hang out, comfy beds, a fridge! etc. etc.

The castle, and the location.
The location of the hotel was great. But it was mostly like there's no staff at all - there isnt anyone around at service if you need any help. You just grab your keys, get to your room, have breakfast in the morning and leave. The stay was still okay, but I'd say things could be much improved along with their service, given the beautiful castle they have as the location. The interiors could be improved and renovated a bit. Cleanliness could be improved as well. Also, I wish they had Wifi.

Breakfast was good, location is good as well, very unique.
Getting to the Island was a hassle. When I tried to make a prebooking with the taxi-boat company suggested, they were not willing to cooperate with getting me there at the time I preferred. The company seemed rather be willing to work at their own comfort, despite their webpage promising rides between 08:00-22:00, as long as you pre-book.
That being said, I took the boat which goes every two hours between the land and the Island of the castle, so I managed to get there eventually.
