I loved that it’s actually a really good pub and loved the heavy metal themed rooms too

Maybe just maybe little noisy but there was an iron maiden tribute band on but other than that nothing it was so comfortably

Lovely warm welcome and very friendly. Quirky comfortable rooms and had a great nights sleep. Location is perfect to walk into the city or just stay put to enjoy the vibe.

The bathroom was a bit on the chilly side this morning.

Fabulous atmosphere and the friendliest staff.

This is our last night of 4 and we have never felt part of a family before. The staff have been absolutely wonderful from the top all the way down. When we leave tomorrow it will feel quite strange and sad, a feeling that, after travelling the world we have not had before. To stay here I think it helps if you are a pub goer, it is a rock bar not a tea room. The room was very large and the bed was as comfy as they come. Norbut the chef serves a fantastic breakfast of whatever you want and the steak in the evening was amazing. He is part of the whole family and comes to talk with the customers and it's easy to sense the pride he has in his cooking. He is just one of a fantastic team that aim to please. Unfortunately the bedroom & en-suite were very dated and tatty

The location was excellent and the staff very helpful highlighted by our room being moved from the 3rd floor to the first after I pointed out that my partner was struggling with a knee problem and the stairs could be an issue for her. We had a nice meal in the early evening before being thoroughly entertained by live music until just after 00:12. All in all I would recommend the Saddle Inn for a weekend visit to Chester and certainly plan to return myself at some point.

Room needs a freshen up and the unclosable window needs repaired. ( it would not close ) the tv was poor. Signal kept breaking and the instructions seemed to be in Spanish!!!

Comfy bed. Great location

No cold water from sink tap. Cold showers. Owners not interested in customer problems . Staff very helpful owners should take a leaf out of their book .

Everything is fine except the bed.

The mattress is old, shabby or worn out. My husband has skin allergies & itchy after we left. The duvet cover is black in color & poor quality.

The location was good - the pub downstairs was great if you're into rock music.

The only way to describe it - it was like room lived in by a 40 year old single man who decorated it when he was 16. Scruffy and tired. Didn't want to risk the breakfast.

Staff were lovely, location great and quirky rooms.

Probably my own fault for not looking into it further but we weren't aware of the live music on a weekend, which was pretty loud. We are music fans so wasn't too bad but did think maybe it could have been pointed out. Check in was 3pm. We arrived at 3.30 to be told our room wasn't ready. We'd walked half a mile in the rain with suitcases and were asked to come back later, it would take another half hour to 40 mins. Might have been nicer to have been offered a drink while we waited. Later found out it was because previous occupants had taken the key with them. If that had been explained at outset we might have been a bit more sympathetic. That said, the majority of staff couldn't do enough to make the stay pleasant.

Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Hearty breakfast. Great karaoke on Friday nights, with a friendly atmosphere and a very capable DJ. Loved the inclusion of a spot for deaf participants. Brought a tear to my eye! Well done ALL :)

Just be warned. The Karaoke on a Friday night runs till 1am so there will be noise from bar if you're staying in the guest rooms.

We had no idea what this place was like when we booked it. We just wanted something very close to the Chester Racecourse that didn't cost an arm and a leg. There is no doubt this will be our Go-To place next time we visit Chester. To start with, it's within 10 mins slow walk of the racecourse. The Saddle Inn is a Rock Pub/Hotel with band memorabilia everywhere you look, some of the beer pump handles were the necks off guitars, the room keys had headphone jacks attached every wall was plastered with band posters. The rooms are named after rock acts. We stayed in the Guns'n Roses room, and our friends stayed in the Jimmi Hendrix room. The bedside tables were drums, the walls had framed pictures of rock legends and platinum disks. It was ace. Back down to the pub and there was a pool room at one end, and Karaoke was blaring at the other. The atmosphere was brilliant, everyone was really friendly and just out to enjoy themselves, locals and tourists alike There was also a good selection of beers on 5 we enjoyed until well after midnight. All the staff were great, smiling and chatting with us, we felt we were in our local. We hadn't booked breakfast initially but were asked if we would like to order it for the morning and all agreed. It was only £10 each, and we'd have spent that much if we'd walked to a cafe. We all had the full English which came with a choice of white or brown toast, tea or coffee and either poached, fried or scramble eggs. We were each served our own pot of tea which was big enough to get 3 or 4 cups of tea from and were offered refills too. As you'd expect the brekkie had bacon, sausage, egg, toms, beans, mushrooms, a hasbrown and black pudding. To be completely honest, I'd had a very night and couldn't taste much but it looked fantastic and went down well. My friends assured me it was a delicious breafast.

I'm convinced there was something in the beer that after several pints made me a bit dizzy and want to sing
