Loved this home and its location! Plenty of room for 10 of us…3 families which included 3 active 3-6 year olds and a sleepy 18 year old. The kitchen has absolutely every utensil/pan/bowl you will need to fix countless meals. The refrigerator is extra large which made it awesome since we stocked up on food in Nicoya on our way in from the airport. We also walked the 1-2 blocks to the two grocery stores in town which actually had a good selection of things we ran out of…and ice cream! 😍 The pool is awesome! The kids loved the slide. The bar stools at the far end were perfect for sitting on to keep cool and tan. The washer and dryer were a very large capacity, complete with detergent. The dishwasher was large too, and detergent was provided. A/C in bedrooms was perfect. Ceiling fans everywhere, too. The walk down to the most ideal beach in the world was a short one. The walk back up was short, but rather steep. However, by the third day we had gotten used to it. Boogie boards, beach chairs, a wagon, sand toys, are all provided. We loved our stay and hope to return in a couple of years. Definitely zip line with WingNuts…we did the adrenaline option this time. Go early morning. David, the home’s manager, is wonderful and can answer/help with everything you need or might want to do.

We loved every minute here. Such a wonderful place to relax. The pool was perfect and my kiddos loved the water slide. There were even floaters to use. Lots of lounge chairs. A great tv for watching YouTube or Netflix. David arranged fishing and horseback riding for us which were both awesome. He even showed us how to cook the tuna we caught. Kitchen was big and fully stocked and beds were all comfortable. It was a short walk or drive to the beach and there were lots of beach toys. Several restaurants and 2 markets close by. We just wished we could have stayed longer!!!!

Thanks again David for being so helpful. Property was wonderful - loved the pool and the hummingbirds that came to visit every morning! Walked to restaurant, walked to grocery, and walked to beach. David helped us arrange some wonderful tours during our stay! Thanks again for sharing.

We really enjoyed our stay at Puerto Carrillo. House & additional apartment were perfect for our family of 8. David, host, was easy to communicate with & he answered many questions. The proximity to the beautiful beach was misrepresented. It was a good hike down to the beach (more than 5 minutes) and it was rough coming back up the hill, especially if you were carrying any beach equipment. Fortunately our family loved the pool at the house so we spent leisure time there. Great restaurants nearby! Samara was easily accessible.

We have never stayed in a place like this before. The open living was so fun and the secure & air conditioned bedrooms were great! I have not had the best experience with private pools in the past, but this one was amazing. It was hot & muggy so we spent a lot of time in the pool - kids loved the slide. The owner was great to work with & helped book our Catamaran Excursion, a chef prepared dinner at the house (very reasonable & yummy), and our Covid tests right at the house. Would definitely come back!!

This property is set up perfectly for multiple families. The pool is such a wonderful treat and the location in relation to restaurants, beach and local market couldn’t be better!

Our family relished in our stay at David's house. So much space, so close to wonderful restaurants and beach, beautiful and kind townspeople. David was so helpful. We cannot wait to go back!

We loved staying at David’s property. Nothing but good to say about the house and our experience. For our family group, it was truly wonderful and welcoming. The hosts obviously went above and beyond to prepare the property as well as provide anything we could want or need. They also helped set up activities and were more than kind and accommodating. We will definitely be back to stay again as we loved the property, the nearby Carillo beach, and the surfing in Samara.

Spacious, comfortable, relaxing, clean. Can't say enough good things about this property. The pool and slide are awesome. The property is in town (very small town!) but is secluded and private. However you can walk to a small grocery store easily. There are a few good restaurants very close too. The most amazing beach is a short walk away (short steep uphill climb on the way back). The owner is very responsive and we booked most of our adventures with him. We would come back in a heartbeat.

My family had a wonderful time at Casa Ventana del Mar. The location was perfect, walking distance to the beach and horseback riding. Home was great. It is similar to a rustic, open-air hacienda and with a fabulous pool and BBQ area as the main attraction. Thank you for the great memories!

Excellent property, easy communication with owner. It was quick and easy to set up through the owner outings and excursions, as well as Covid-19 tests as required to reenter the United States. The house is about 10 minutes from Samara, which itself is a pretty small beach town. We found surf lessons in Samara, but it's not a bustling town by any stretch. The house itself is located in Puerto Carrillo, which is very very tiny. Exactly what we were looking for, but not for the bar crawler or nightlife seeker. There are a couple very small supermarkets walking distance from the house, as well as a couple small restaurants. You can walk to the beach in about 10 minutes -- there is some elevation loss (then gain on the way back), as town sits on a bluff over the ocean. There's a much longer walk to a secluded, rocky cove, about 2.5 miles round trip. We saw monkeys and lots of forest crabs. One could manage at this house without a car if you're okay playing in the house's pool, getting staples from the supermarket and cooking a few meals at home, and/or eating at the same two restaurants, which I think would be great. We had a rental car, which was nice for us because we wanted the surf lessons for the kids, and you need to get to Samara to do that. The owner will arrange airport shuttles though for those who don't want to bother with rental cars. The house itself is as advertised. We were only in the house, not the separate apartment that can be used by bigger groups. We were six people, two adults and four kids ages 18, 15, 13, and 9. The pool is really nice and a perfect temperature. There was plenty of sleeping space in the three bedrooms. Always keep in mind that you're essentially inside a forest/jungle, so you cannot avoid insects. It's part of the experience. They were not an issue for us as, again, it was part of our expectations. Beds and bedrooms were clean, air conditioning kept sleep temperature comfortable. We had an issue with one air conditioning unit that was fixed quickly and easily by the owner. Overall it was a great stay. Definitely recommend the property.

Pool is spectacular (watch slide, wear rash guard) best beach in CR been too many, walk to beach is quite a little steep, restaurants, mini mart easy walk no car needed!! David very responsive, need to lock individual rooms a hassle but well worth it

We booked this house for the entire month of January and wish we stayed even longer. The location cannot be better. The house is perfect for a large family or multiple couples. And David, the property manager, is superb at his job.As two adult couples working remotely, we had adequate private space in the bedrooms and enough common space to be comfortable. The open-air layout really allows you to enjoy the beautiful Costa Rican flora and fauna. While it can get hot midday, in shade it's comfortable and the air-conditioning in the rooms worked well. The pool is a fantastic size and perfect for cooling down during a hot day. The waterslide is a nice bonus. As far as location, the house is an easy 5min walk down to Carrillo beach, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, if not the world. It's also a 5min walk from multiple restaurants on the main road in Carrillo and the Super(market) which has a decent supply of groceries and fresh produce. David is a wonderful host. He was responsive and quick to help with all of our needs. He ensured our stay was comfortable and helped us book excursions like a snorkeling trip, taxis to and from Samara, even COVID tests that were required for travel. He also helped us arrange transportation to and from the Liberia airport and was excellent about communicating on WhatsApp. We couldn’t imagine a better host to make sure everything was running smoothly.This home is perfect for relaxing and enjoying a tropical beach. If you are looking for the absolute perfect beach getaway then this is the place - look no further! My family and I have traveled to Costa Rica several times and loved every one of our visits but never once have we returned to the same house rental until now. After only a few days of being there we re-booked for next year as we knew it could't get any better then this rental. There is not one single negative thing I could say. The house is perfect and looks just like the pictures, ample room for larger families and everyone has their own private areas of the house. So if someone wakes up earlier no need to worry about tip toeing around and everyone is very spread out. The house was very clean and had everything you could possibly need. The kitchen had newer appliances and tons of dishes, utensils, knives, blenders, nothing was missing. There are great restaurants within walking distance but with the ambiance of the house we ended up staying in to eat most of the time. The outdoor area was incredible! The pool was very large, had swim up stools to an outdoor bar which were awesome, and the slide was a hit with our young kids. The patio area was perfect as no matter what time of day it was there was sun and shade !The market down the road is perfect and has a pretty good selection but Samara is just around the corner with easy access if you need anything more. The beach is so peaceful and quiet and lined with beautiful palm trees not shops. On the busiest day there I think we saw maybe 30 people over the entire stretch of the beach. Plenty of shady spots for a break from the sun and only a 5 minute walk from the house. David and his wife were so kind and helpful - you couldn't ask for better hosts. We have been home for over two months now and we all still talk about the perfection that this vacation was!

We had a wonderful month at Ventana del Mar, two weeks with friends and ten days with family, including young children. The house and location were well-suited for both groups. The bedrooms offer guests great privacy while the house offers lots of communal space. And that pool! All of this is nestled beside and in front of undeveloped land so, while situated in a sweet community, you feel like you’re in the wilds, not in town. It was fabulous! Everything we needed seemed to be there. The weekly cleaning and linen changes were a surprise and a treat, too. The beach is one of the most beautiful we’ve seen - a deep beach and shallow entry into the ocean. You walk a long way in before you get past your knees. There seem always to be two wave breaks, one shallow that amuses small kids and people wading and one a bit deeper that even our five-year old grandson could boogie board on. It’s a steep but easy downhill to get there and a bit less easy uphill on the way home but it’s well worth the effort. It’s an easy walk - two blocks - from the house to two grocery stores that are likely to have what you need at reasonable prices. There are four or five restaurants within an easy walk and all of them were excellent. A bit longer walk will get you to more good restaurants. The roads into and out of Carrillo are great so you don’t need to worry about driving, as long as you stay on the main roads. But if not, there is bus service and a stop about a block from the house. David and Lesdy, who are both fluent in English, were easily available and quick to answer our questions and assist with our requests. They were discreet - always available but very respectful of our privacy. They also operate a tour company in Samara and were able to book us on many excursions with pick up at the house. They were great hosts! We certainly hope to go back!

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in Costa Rica with our children and their families. We spent a week of our visit in Carrillo at the Ventana Del Mar. We had a wonderful time there. The house was designed to allow each family to have their own private space. The pool was our favorite place to gather for swimming and conversation. The great room was great for game playing and reading. There were plenty of games available so you don’t have to bring your own. There was a pass through from the kitchen to the great room which was so convenient when serving food. Overall a great home design. David was quick to respond when we wanted to arrange a Sunset Tour through his company Samara Adventure Tours. We frequented the grocery store and restaurants just a short walk away. The grocery had most everything you need and the restaurants were very good. The beach was wonderful but very crowded during the week of New Years when the Ticos spend their holiday there. We did go to Samara during the week and enjoyed the shopping and beach there also but it was quite crowded too. It’s easy to understand why so many spend their Christmas holidays in Samara and Carrillo. Great place to visit!

The best thing about this property is Lesdy and the team that cares for the house. Airport transfers both to and from the airport went smoothly; we were met with bottles of cold water at the airport and the drivers went out of their way to accommodate a second, next day pick up. Upon arrival at the house we were given a full tour and provided with a basket of fresh fruit. (Bananas and limes grow in the back yard....) Lesdy made some great recommendations for our son's trips inland. The second great thing about this house is the outdoor space and the pool. The area was well used every day between visits to the beach or into Samara. The house is well located a few minutes from Carrillo beach, restaurants and a couple of small markets. We had a great Christmas vacation.

We arrived later than expected - 9 pm - and Lesdy and David were there to greet us with open arms. The house was perfect! Clean and well laid out. The open air living area and pool with swim up bar were great and made us feel we were truly experiencing Costa Rica. There was a problem with the air conditioner in one bedroom and David changed it out immediately. Ten minute walk to Corrillo beach which is amazing. Thirty minute drive to beaches south of Corrillo where we saw baby turtles hatching, mama turtles laying eggs and a tidal pool. Five minute walk to the sunset lookout. Stores and restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute walk. Samara is a ten minute drive. House keeper came mid week to clean and launder towels and bedding. Felt safe and welcomed. David and Lesdy are great resources and helped with tips and setting up excursions. We kayaked Rio Oro with our guide Louis and saw crocodiles and all sorts of birds. David also arranged rental of an ATV. Can't say enough good things about David and Lesdy. They even shared their dog Puco with us when we asked if she could come over and visit! We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day. A great location!

Everything was as described and more ! Was the perfect getaway for our.group of six. Walking distance to all.restaurants and grocery stores. The beach was incredible and just a short walk or golf cart ride away. We loved having sweet poohka visit us every day and she became our house dog while we were there. We wouldnt change a thing about our visit and would most definitely return ! A tv would be a great addition for movies during evening downtime. Thanks to David and Lesdy for taking such great care of us all and arranging tours and transfers with such ease. PURA VIDA!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this incredibly well-designed house. The open concept allowed the gentle breezes to cool the house. Everyone could be in separate parts of the house and we could always see and communicate with each other. We didn’t need the air conditioning at all in the lower level. The morning sun shone on the pool which was sheltered by the vegetation in the hotter afternoons. The cool water Jacuzzi was much appreciated after our long walks on the beach. Loved the slide! Every morning we heard the howler monkeys. We enjoyed sitting by the pool watching the magpies, parrots, woodpeckers and kiskadees visit the woods and the pool (for a drink and bird bath). Every night we would hear the chirps of the geckos and then play find-the-gecko on the wall. The iguanas could be seen climbing the trees and running on the roof and the eavestroughs. The lovely and quiet beach was a short walk from the house. The house had all sorts of beach equipment, including boogie boards which we tried one memorable day at high tide. Playa Samara was 1.5 hours walk, and while it had more facilities, it was also more touristy. We preferred Playa Carrillo as we could get most of what we needed at the little stores just minutes from the house. There is a bus between Playa Carrillo and Samara but we didn’t use it as David and Lesdy gave us a ride back to the house when they saw us waiting at the bus stop on the day that we walked to Samara. David and Lesdy were fantastic. They visited us each day to clean the floors and the pool. David arranged all our transfers and tours (he owns Samara Adventures). We especially appreciated his thoughtfulness in rearranging one of the transfers based on the actual flight time (flight arrived early), and to improve the logistics which saved the family 2 hours of travel time! Lesdy was a joy as she helped me with my Spanish each day. They were a fountain of knowledge - thank you so much for telling me about the tide pool. We highly recommend this house, especially with David and Lesdy to take care of you.

We loved every minute of our stay at this home! There were a group of 8 of us (4 couples) who traveled to Playa Carrillo and there was plenty of room for all of us. Each couple had their own room as well as bathroom. The rooms were clean and plenty of room in each. The dining table easily sat all 8 of us. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the kitchen supplies that you would need. The pool and outdoor area was very well maintained. It was a short walk to the magnificent Playa Carrillo beach. The beach was beautiful and hardly any people. There is a man at the beach who rents umbrellas and chairs if you didn't want to bring the chairs available at the house. There are 3 restaurants that are a 2 minute walk from the house. All of them were great but Los Delfines is a family run business with great food and cheap beer. There is also a grocery store that is a 2 minute walk away which has pretty much anything that you need. The grocery stores in Samara are bigger and cheaper if you are looking to stock up. We would walk into Samara, it takes about an hour and a half along the beach and then we would take a taxi home.The town itself has everything that you need. The best part of the house, however, were Davis and Leslie. The would answer all of our questions and got us anything that we needed. David was awesome at getting us any fish or shrimp that we needed as well as hooking us up with any of the excursions that we wanted to do. They keep the house and yard spotless. Thank you so much Davis and Leslie!!!! We would return to this house and area anytime!

The villa is in a great location with shops and restaurants within walking distance. We loved the pool and the open air living space and enjoyed meeting all the local wildlife that visited the garden! David and Lesdey called every morning and were fantastic, giving us help and advice on everything from exchanging money to fresh fish purchases They made our stay extra special Many thanks to you both.

Ample space for our family of 11 to spread out for privacy and ample space for us all to congregate in the great room. The pool was perfect for everyone from age 2 to 65. There is no shallow end aside from the steps so caution with the little ones. The slide and palapa bar a bonus feature for the pool area. Air conditioning in each bedroom was a necessity with the heat and humidity. The caretaker next door was available for any issue that arose. The beach was wonderful, a short five minute walk from the house. The owners provided some boogie boards as well as other water toys. Groceries and restaurants also a short walk from the house.. Lots of birds and we could hear the howler monkeys in the mornings and afternoons. Samara is a short drive if you need a change of pace, a bit more touristy for souvenir shopping.

As a single mom traveling with my 4 kids (15,17,20,21) and 3 of their friends, finding the perfect space needed was a bit intimidating but we found this wonderful home that worked out beyond my expectations! The bedroom set up was ideal and more than enough room. The outdoor covered dining/living room area was the centerpiece of our evenings. The pool was gorgeous and a must we learned pretty quickly! We cooked several nights and always breakfast and never had to improvise as everything we needed was there. The grill out by the pool bar area was great and we even cooked our fresh caught Mahi Mahi one night! Washer/dryer was a nice bonus as well. Boogie boards and chairs provided great beach entertainment. We can’t say thank you enough to Gerardo! He was always there for advice, recommendations and a friendly smile! Forgive my informal review as I’m typing from my phone on a plane in Miami! Couldn’t wait to tell everyone about our fabulous little getaway home! Thank you Michael Wood!!!

It was a real nice experience to stay at this place. The house is incredible, the Carillo beach is perfect and Gerardo (te gardener) is very helpfull.

We could not have asked for a better house & location for our first family trip to Costa Rica! We were 2 families (with kids ranging from 8-22) and this spacious house easily & comfortably accommodated us all - offering tons of great common space for relaxation, games & meals, and also ample privacy! We absolutely loved the open air living. The home was breezy, and comfortable in every way. The living room was spacious and comfy with lots of seating, the pool was gorgeous and perfectly maintained, the kitchen was well equipped, and the bedrooms were cozy, with air conditioning as needed. We cooked in and barbecued most meals & the little local grocery store (just a short walk down the lane) had everything we needed. We ate out a few times and all of the recommendations that the owner gave us were accurate - excellent food, excellent prices (el Colibri steakhouse right across the lane was delicious - we ate there 2x, Coco’s Mexican in Samara, Hotel Leyenda was a short drive but so worth it - great service & food, very reasonable) The home was about a 5 minute walk down to the beach - - the lane was a little steeper than we expected, but we enjoyed the walk and the opportunities to burn off a few calories! The beach was beautiful - the sand fine & soft, the surf perfect for hours of fun playing in the waves & bodysurfing! We also found (with the help of Gerardo’s directions) another gorgeous beach just about 10-15min drive away that was secluded & perfectly untouched, with the bonus feature of a turtle hatchery project on site. We spent two glorious days at this beach - Playa Camaronal. Gerardo (the on-site property caretaker) was so kind and helpful. He helped us arrange a horseback ride & a morning fishing trip that produced enough fish to feed our entire group 2 meals+! Gerardo does an amazing job keeping the place & pool immaculate and was always checking in with us to see if there was anything we needed assistance with! In all, this was the trip of a lifetime, made that much better by this beautiful property and all it had to offer! Thank you for allowing us the pleasure and honour of sharing your home. all 10 of us staying there truly enjoyed ourselves. 5 bedrooms. And oodles of bathrooms. Local beach delightful, close to local stores and only 15 minutes from Samara - a small cute town with most of the stuff you could need. Took surfing lessons, trips to Palo Verde and Monteverde, pure pleasure. And caretaker was just great.
