Beautiful house. It had a lot of amenities with plenty of room. It was very clean. Great location, several hiking paths the choose from. Loved all the historical buildings.

Very nice house. Well built (quiet), with lots of nice details and touches. Quiet neighborhood, close to downtown PG as well as the waterfront - all within easy walking distance. Overall, it was just a high quality home in a great location - perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peace and beauty of PG.

Beautiful, extremely well kept home in an excellent location. House was very clean and all the beds were very comfortable. Plenty of space for a large family gathering. Short walk to many great restaurants and easy access to the Monterey Aquarium and Cannery Row.

Overall a great location - walking distance to the beach - and a large spacious house that could house our three families. Lots of attention to detail with the pots / pans and spices that were available for cooking and a large garage for extra storage. One thing as others have commented on is the appliances. There is a booklet that has all the operational handbooks but the appliances are just not that user friendly. I recommend once you book this place to figure out how to use the stove, microwave and oven so if you have any questions, you can do it while the staff is available. We did have an issue with the DVD player and the manager came the next day to replace it. Great response time.

This is a beautiful home which has been completely updated throughout. Six of us ladies enjoyed the home on our annual Spring Fling. Even with six ladies, we never ran out of hot water and/or water pressure. The location was great... we walked to town, to the beach and to some great restaurants. If we're ever back in the area, we would love to stay at Jewel by the Sea again!

Jewel By the Sea was a very nice cottage, but we had a few issues during our stay that were not handled efficiently by the management company, Sanctuary Vacation Rentals. I had some basic questions prior to arrival that I had to email a couple times in order to get a response. During our stay the lack of communication continued - I had two "concierge" property managers but my emails bounced around and I got out of office replies and no answers, despite cc'ing both managers and the office. I eventually did get responses, but they were not timely nor very helpful. The 1st night of our stay the oven did not work, and the gas stovetop was usable, but not functioning properly. The 2nd day of our stay we realized the freezer also wasn't working. We were a group of 7 and trying to cook most meals at home, so this was a challenge. The stovetop was fixed after a couple emails, and we fixed the oven ourselves by googling the instructions after not getting a response from the manager (turns out this brand of oven literally won't work if the clock isn't set - it's not intuitive at all). The freezer was eventually fixed towards the end our stay, and the manager gave us a small refund, though I would have been happier if they had simply been more responsive. We could only operate one of the the 3 heated bathroom floors. The Nest thermostat was preprogrammed to drop the heat in the afternoons and overnight. Home was clean, though the carpets were stained and some basics were missing such as washcloths & extra items in the kitchen. Beds were adequate, though without headboards or comfortable mattress toppers I've usually had at higher end homes. The location is great (aside from the neighbors displays of signs against short term rentals) - within walking distance to many restaurants, a playground, and the beach. The layout of the house is nice - it has great curb appeal. This could definitely be a 5 star property with a few tweaks of the amenities and a better management company. I can tell the home is well loved and it has some great features, so I was disappointed we had some hiccups during our stay that weren't easily resolved. Turns out the Guest Relations Manager was out of town during our stay, so hopefully next time he's on spring break (as we were) the guests will be left in better hands.

We loved our stay. It was a family vacation and we were all very pleased with the home. It was great to have a bedroom downstairs for my mom. We loved the large dining table. It was wonderful to have our meals together. We visited the aquarium, cannery row, the beach and went bike riding. The only negative comment I can make , is although the kitchen, was state of the art, the appliances were hard to work with. The property managers were very responsive to our needs.

What a beautiful home! We were greeted with wine & cheese and passes to wine tasting & a day spa. Everything was exactly how it was described online. Loved sitting out on the deck upstairs drinking my morning coffee. The kitchen was nice and big and was able to have the entire group sit together for dinner. The same with the living room. Loved it! Can't wait to go back next year!

Wow! This was a great home. Very clean and comfortable with plenty of room for our large group.

We stayed in this house for 5 nights and it was perfect. Both check in and check out are very streamlined and made to help the guests be independent. The house book and appliances instructions were easy to find and well organized. Lots of great info. The house itself is beautiful, very tastefully decorated, just like in the photos. The appliances are very high end (think Miele and Subzero) and the kitchen well equipped and practical. The house manager, Pravinesh, was very responsive and helpful. He helped us get two-days passes to the aquarium, for the price of one day. Our kids (5 and 8 years old) and us enjoyed the aquarium very much. We walked there from the house, along the coast. The house is very conveniently located, a short drive to Carmel, 17mile drive, point lobos state reserve and many other local attractions. The house is also ideal for larger groups, as there are 4 bedrooms, one of them being a great kids room, with window benches and bunk beds. Everybody can have their privacy while sharing very nicely laid out common spaces.

There are five of us that retired about the same time some 10 years ago. We travel all over and this time it was to Pacific Grove and your beautiful house, Jewel by the Sea. The house was wonderful and the location was great. Nice places right down the street for us to walk to for breakfast and dinner, beautifully drives down the coast to Big Sur, and lots more to keep us busy. I'm sure we will be back in the future. Thanks to all of you for a great trip.

This house is great! We booked Jewel By the Sea along with another of Sanctuary's rentals one street over for mine and my husband's intimate wedding week with our families. My husband and I stayed at Jewel by the Sea with his family while my parents and siblings stayed at the other house. We booked 5 nights in this house with 6 adults and 2 children. My husband and I stayed in the Master Suite which is AMAZING! There was plenty of room for all of our wedding stuff and space to finish up all my last minute wedding projects. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was great! The room is also very quiet. I'm a very light sleeper and was nervous about being able to hear everything in the house if other people woke up early (especially the kids) but I had no trouble at all sleeping and you really couldn't hear anything with the bedroom door shut. It's also nice that at the top of the stairs there's a sliding french door you can close to block out any noise from people who may still be awake downstairs. I also love that there was a patio off the room, great for morning coffee! The Master Suite was also perfect as a Bridal Suite as I got ready for my big day! There was plenty of room for my make-up artist and photographer as well as for my sisters to get ready with me. The rest of the house was really spacious and clean. The room next to the master suite was perfect for my brother-in-law and his wife who have 2 little kids so they loved the bunk beds and window seats in the room. The kitchen has everything you need and the coffee maker was a big hit with all us coffee lovers! The welcome wine and cheese was also a nice touch by Sanctuary. Overall, this house is perfect for a family get-away! Lots of room for everyone and all the amenities you need! We loved the proximity to restaurants and coffee shops as well as being within walking distance to the beach path. The Sanctuary staff was also great to work with. They are very prompt to respond to any questions or concerns you may have. We will definitely be back!

What a beautiful house! The house was cozy, inviting and great spot to mingle with family. Amenities were right on! We had plenty of soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. We loved the short walking distance to ice cream shop, beach and shops (even though it was a bit chilly). We felt very safe. We went to the Monterey Aquarium and a few restaurants in that area. All excellent choices. We loved our visit to Pacific Grove (nephew's wedding in nearby Carmel/Monterey). We hope we can visit again!

Impressive, comfortable and clean. Appreciated the attention to details in this beautiful vacation home, gorgeous bedrooms and bathrooms. Comfortable family room and outside deck to past the time away. Easy breezy check in/ check out, competent property management. Super location close to downtown Pacific Grove and easy walk to the awesome coastline. Enjoyed some amazing pastries at Pavel's and some heavenly clam chowder at Vivolo's Chowder House. Great place to stay and relax the days away!

This house is beautifully and comfortably designed. It feels more like being in someone's home than a rental because there are so many personal touches. Appliances, electronics, beds, bathrooms were all high end and fully equipped. Our multigenerational family thoroughly enjoyed having plenty of room to spread out and the 10 person dining table accommodated us perfectly. Best of all, we could leave our cars and walk almost anywhere. I would recommend this to anyone and hope we will be able to return in the future ourselves.

This beautiful home is in a quiet neighbor that is a 30 minute walk to fisherman's wharf in Monterey. That seems a long way, but you walk by great antique shops, beautifully restored cottages painted in sweet Victorian colors, then along the coast watching sea otters, sea lions, the tin factory outlet shopping, the aquarium, then the bounty of fisherman's wharf! Something for everyone. The photos on the website are true. The house is beautiful and solid, a bit kitschy, but fully equipped. The weakness is that there are so many high end appliances you need instruction manuals. We never did get the tv to work and couldn't watch the movies we wanted to share in the evening. Activities we did: 17 mile drive past the lone cypress, kayaking on Monterey Bay (that was a great adventure!), Big Sur is about an hour drive down a gorgeous stretch of route 1, the purple sand Peiffer Beach, scones and a hippy headdress at the Big Sur Bakery, Calla Lily gorge near Garrapata bridge, lunch at Rocky Point Restaurant, sunset on Carmel Beach, wine tasting at Taste of Monterey, dinner at Schooners, clam chowder in a bread bowl at Fish Hopper. The management was responsive and friendly. We highly recommend this rental for a Route 1 stop off.
