Reception staff were very helpful and friendly.

On arrival taxi drops you at the head of a scruffy side road as it can't down it and you'll wonder what the hell have I booked. Room was very small and not particularly clean. Breakfast was served just outside the room in a small sitting area. Not happy when we got up early one morning to find a number of staff sleeping on the floor in this area.

The location is kind of near to all the main locations in the city - finding ways to travel in the city was easy, the staff is amazing and the place is calm - great for a remote work environment.

The breakfast really don't have much options 😕but you can order 2 atleast of your choice - thanks to staff, you will have to buy packaged water from the hotel if you need it in the heat - almost 44°.

It is officially THE CLEANEST hotel I have ever lived in India! And I really mean it! They sanitate room after every single guest with some disinfection liquids, wash the floor and clean the bathroom utilities. It was a blessing! Breakfast is delivered to the room, you can choose from variety of options - all of them were tasty. The personnel is also very helpful! I 100% recommend this hotel for stay in Kolkata!

If you walk deep in the evening, be prepared to see some rats on the street (it has nothing to do with the hotel though). Also, it may be tricky to book a cab as the entrance is located not directly on the street and uber drivers cannot (do not want to) find it, but you will manage it easily with the help of receptionist.

Everything was good, but especially location is perfect. The hotel is located in central Kolkata, 10 minutes walking from metro Central station, it is possible to reach most of the places by walking and anyway there are many bus lines and Sealdah railway station is close too. The breakfast was good. The staff very helpful and friendly (special mention to Narayan). I hope to come again soon.

This was my first experience of hotel in India. I consider it that is a quite traditional hotel. So, as a complet new thing, it is complicated to define like and don't like; just tell my experience. I arrived at the hotel after midnight (a little bit difficult to find by my taxi driver, but he succeeded after a short while). There was a strong wood door at the entrance, closed. I had to insist a few moment before I heard some noise inside and somebody came to open (however I was aware of that due to comments by other previous traveller, so I did not worried). Two nice people came and help me with my (light) luggage, showed me the room and said that the formalities will be done in the morning. Room was quite small (very small TV) but it had good internet. The shower complicated to use, I did not understand very well, but I did not asked, as for one night I managed in a basic way. Nice typical view of Kolkata from the window. The people in the hotel and around very polite and helpful. And ATM close (I was able to withdraw enough rupias; be aware that once exit from the airport, it is not easy to find exchange offices)

Well-worn but clean sheets, comfortable bed, generous variety of snacks and cookies provided. Best part - the room was cleaned properly each day, not just surface cleaning. Many thanks to the great people at Hotel Cecil - Mr. Umesh, Narayan, Wakil, Mukesh and Mathur.

Breakfast could start a little earlier, like 7.30 a.m. Staff should be encouraged to learn basic English so that they can converse with guests more easily.

Location is convenience to walk around the old city. Staff are very kind and polite. I ordered room service for breakfast and dinner and the meal was very good as well.

Cars are very noisy if the room is facing on the street.
