Lovely location and homely, traditional style feel. Room and large bed was spacious and comfortable on ground floor. A very friendly and obliging hostess, breakfasts cooked perfectly to individual preference.

My wife regretted that there was no bar, though was no disadvantage to me.

The location is fantastic. The lakes at your doorstep and the lovely Ambleside. The staff are brilliant. Great communication. So friendly at breakfast. They get everything just right.

The location was excellent within short easy walking distance of Ambleside bars and shops. There was ample Parking at the location for all guests. The staff where all very pleasant and helpfull, the breakfast was very good and service great.

Well placed and only a short walk to Ambleside town centre with it's many cafes, restaurants and pubs, as well as a good selection of shops. For those seeking water based activities, it's only a short walk to Windermere, albeit the shortest route can be tricky as there are no pavements for much of the way (but traffic should be moving at only 20 mph). The B&B is comfortable and clean, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Set back from the road in lovely gardens there is also ample parking. Our room overlooked the gardens and breakfast was excellent in both choice and quantity.

There really wasn't much to complain about. The house is of an age where it's difficult to improve without losing some of the character but apart from a minor niggle with low water pressure for the shower we were well satisfied with the facilities.

Nothing I didn't like Would have preferred a larger bed rather than standard double but as only staying one night wasn't really a problem, though I suspect the room wasn't really large enough to accommodate a Kingsize bed

A cute little BnB with comfortable rooms in a great location, with onsite parking and a close walk to the main town and shops. The staff were excellent and breakfast was great!

The room was very small - we could barely fit our suitcases in the door.

The staff were amazing, check in was super easy, breakfast was quick and tasty! Would recommend it! The hotel is in a great location, there are a few coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance and a really nice walk Loughrigg Circular Fell that begins just behind the church across from the hotel.

Great place to stay - very local to the centre of Ambleside with free car parking, which in Ambleside is a huge bonus! On arrival when the reception staff learned we were celebrating a birthday, they gave us a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate, which was a truly lovely touch. The rest of the staff (especially Joanna) were amazing, very friendly and the breakfast was superb. My wife and I would definitely stay here again - thank you Rothay Garth!

Couldn't fault anything

Breakfast was ok and a reasonable selection of cooked breakfast options available. A large jug of milk on the table where you get your cereal's would be better as the small jug on the table was not enough for two people. Ok you only had to ask for more milk but just think be more convenient if it was at the table with the cereals.

Check in didnt happen it was self check in with keys left in envelopes and this was an early checking in and didnt see any staff members until the following day and even then the welcome could have been better. The same on checkout there was no members of staff on the check out desk which could have been better to check if you had a nice stay

The staff were very professional and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was lovely and the accommodation was in the perfect location for exploring Ambleside.

The bed was too soft for me and the room was a little too warm but my husband didn't mind he slept like a baby. I think I just prefer a harder mattress that's just personal preference. Wouldn't put me off returning for another holiday
