Our 2 night stay in a spacious double room called The Jack Russell with large on-suite bathroom. Staff very pleasant. Marina from Nepal was a pleasure to talk to and very helpful.Great variety of choices on breakfast menu. Pub welcoming and cosy in beautiful, peaceful country surroundings. A great place to be for Xmas or New Year I can imagine. Highly recommend.

Cornish Haddock on the dinner menu was tasteless, so I left most of it. When asked if all OK, I told the waiter who said, "Would you like anything else?" I said no, he apologised but no offer of discount so very expensive meal of a few chips and peas for me. The only blip on an otherwise fantastic stay.

Breakfast was great, as were the entire surroundings - so relaxing and lots of space for guests to roam the grounds, enjoy the fire pit, sit in the bar area with a cocktail, or relaxing in the lovely rooms.

The Sunday roast was not the best but I think we probably got one of the last meals of the afternoon - it seemed like things had been kept warm and their quality suffered as a result. I would definitely give it another go though. The staff were great and I have no negative comments about the service we received.

We love how perfect the Jack Russell is for a Sunday roast, dog walk then relax in the bar, by the fire pit, or in the comfortable and generously sized rooms.

Beautiful rooms and location. Very quiet and decorated very nicely.

A few cobwebs in room, dust on coffee machine and toilet had staining.

Fantastic stay at the Jack Russell! The inn was wonderfully furnished and quirky. The rooms again wonderfully laid out and decorated. The staff could not do enough to make our stay pleasurable, and the food and atmosphere were amazing! I will definitely be rebooking! Highly recommend this gorgeous inn set in truly beautiful surroundings.

Very modern and new facilities in the rooms. good location and plenty of parking.

The staff were quite unhelpful during our stay. We felt as if they were always too busy to help us with any queries. There was also no information about breakfast or dinner options and the pub was fully booked with non-guests for lunch and dinner which was rather frustrating.

Breakfasts were excellent, as indeed were evening meals. Room was large and well equipped, really nice rural views in all directions. Those views reflected the location, deep in picturesque countryside.

"Deep in picturesque countryside" = "could have done with satnav to find it on the first evening!". No real complaints about this though. Although the name should have provided us with a rather large clue, we didn't actually appreciate the extent to which dog owners were catered for. It didn't present us with a problem though, all dogs very well behaved.

The room was very warm despite the heating being turned right down.

This hotel was fantastic the rooms are really lovely the bathroom facilities were really good quality The bed was very comfortable, the rooms are done to a high standard and the staff was all great and very pleasant. Dinner was okay would say it was the best but it had good flavors. The hotel's surroundings were very relaxing and had a very calm peaceful feel to it. We really enjoyed our time here and will defiantly book to stay again Oh and Chris the manager makes a fantastic hot chocolate a most try even if its once ;)

This place is fantastic! Amazing food in a lovely restaurant, open fires , good beer and wine, really attentive staff, wonderful rooms especially in the Doghouse annexe , dog friendly, all set in a beautiful part of England. The Jack Russell couldn’t be better , thanks for a great weekend 😊
