The room was clean and the bed very comfortable.

We had booked the room for new years eve and though had put an estimated arrival time of 6-7pm we were running 1 hour late. While en route we were called by what I assume to be the owner asking where we were. They were quite abrupt on the phone. Not the greatest of first interactions. We got there and was quickly ushered into the room. We were given all the basic info we needed but again not a great welcome. We were asked to fill in an itemised pre order for breakfast and to i clud what time we wanted breakfast. Breakfast only ran until 8:45am so we put 8am. My alarm didn't go off to wake us for breakfast but we were woken by clearly intentional noise outside our room. There was only one other couple staying that night so I can only assume it was the owner making it clear we werent on time for breakfast. We went to breakfast and asked about late check out (normal check out 10am), willing to pay for an extra few hours in the room, but we got an abrupt no and questionable explanation that there are only 2 of them and needed that time to turn the room around. Again one other couple there and this wud be new years day so doubtful they wud have been busy. The location was central, the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Everything else was quite disappointing considering the money we paid.

Hosts was lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Superb location and lovely cosy room. Would highly recommend and will deffinetly stay again 👍

the beverages weren't replenished during my 2 day stay - but I'm sure I could have had some if I'd have asked for no good for anyone with stair issues

The hosts we excellent and couldn't do more for you, the location in the town is excellent for the towns facilities and very close to walks up the river Wye.

I have no complaints.

The breakfast was out of this world - local ingredients and cooked to perfection. The owner/host was also really lovely and made you feel at home instantly.

I really liked the feel of the hotel - very homely. It could be said that some of the rooms might need updating - but this is an observation rather than a dislike!

Owners were exceptionally lovely and helpful, the shower was the best I'd ever experienced in many years of travelling

Hosts made us feel very welcome. Room was comfortable, a lot of stairs which we didn’t mind. Breakfast was delicious and just the right amount.

Only complaint was TV in bedroom was very small but did not affect out stay.

Breakfast was lovely, though felt a bit of pressure to be down at time specified the night before. The room was very nice and spacious, with privacy for each twin bed. Car park on site, and excellent location on the high street.

The hosts were truly welcoming and actually called us to make sure that we were coming as we'd been delayed on our journey down from North Wales. The property itself is old but situated in heart of the village with some stunning views just 5 mins away. The breakfast choice was extensive and the hosts made sure we had everything that we needed. The hosts also guided us re attractions around Built Wells and we are thoroughly pleased to have acted upon their recommendation to visit Elan Valley. Overall a great experience!

Can't really think of anything that I didn't like about this stay. It could be better priced but I suppose our booking was last minute so the prices would've been high

The Owls is quirky, on lots of different levels, we love quirky. The building is old, but well maintained, very clean and manages to retain some homeliness. The front door is straight on to the High Street, with shops, pubs and restaurants a few steps away. Our room was at the rear, very quiet and we had a great night’s sleep. The hosts are great and have a natural ability to interact with guests as much as required or wanted. The breakfast was very good. We enjoyed our evening in Builth Wells and our night in The Owls, so much so that we intend to visit again. We highly recommend The Owls.

There is nothing we did not like, so there is no need to change a thing. The hosts at The Owls have got it spot on.
