A perfect week. The Casa is extremely well equipped, with lots of personal touches such as cool bags, beach towels and most essentials. The pool and hot tub are fantastic. There is also boules and mini golf to keep the whole family entertained. The location is 20mins by car from shops, bars etc but this made it feel secluded and relaxing.

We just came back from spending a lovely week at Casa Abuelo Rafael! The owners are very friendly, helpful and communicate quickly, although be prepared that you will need to dust off your basic Spanish skills! The house is located in the center of the island in a very quiet town: Llanos de la Concepcion. The pros of this location are that it is very quiet at and around the villa - besides some occasional donkey sounds - so you can really enjoy some good relaxation and, in addition, you are strategically located to visit all highlights of the island (up north to El Cotillo and Corralejo, down south to Jandia, and Betancuria and Ajuy are close-by). The cons are that there are no facilities close-by (closest supermarket is about 10-15 minutes by car; there is only 1 'bar' in town (Bar Garcia)) and you would thus need a car if you want to do any activity. As we prefer the silence and privacy above being located close to a (touristic) beach, we knew beforehand actually what we signed up for. Luckily, there was not a single moment we had to regret this decision :) As for the casa, we were truly amazed by the eye for detail the owners have. They have thought about everything and there is not a single thing we could think of that we missed during our stay. Even better are the facilities. Is it warm outside, as we can imagine it may become during summer, use the pool. Is it a little bit colder and windy, as it may be during winter months and at night, use the jacuzzi. Are you fed up reading and sunbathing in one of the relaxing seats the house provides (if possible at all), go play petanque or make a pizza in your own pizza oven! Later at night, you can retreat yourself in the very cozy and warm - due to the thick walls - living room/ kitchen. Here, if you feel up to it, you can prepare your own Spanish dinner using the stove, oven or microwave. Your other half would not need to worry doing the dishes, as the casa houses a dishwasher as well!

As for points of improvement, please note that the living room does not have any hot water. In addition, the shower only has limited hot water (for about 5 minutes of shower time). However, this does not weigh up against all the great things this house has to offer!
