The location is good although a bit outside the main town (10 min walk), you can easily reach the park near the river or go across the river to the other park, the building is big and very open with big windows, so it has plenty of space and facilities, you never feel crowded, the breakfast is just ok, in my regard the best part of the facility is the staff, all of them are very polite and accommodating and that helps to create a really good and relaxed mood. Plus plenty of parking and good wifi.

The worst thing by far is the building and the rooms, both are very rundown, the photos here are nothing like reality, they feel like they were taken 6 years ago, my room had ripped flooring and some old carpets there instead, wasn't nice, it felt dirty and sticky, i didn't feel comfortable walking barefoot, also the construction of the building points all rooms to the side or like mine to the back, so no beautiful views of the river from your room. Compared with the hotels Ive been recently in Portugal it was one of the most expensive for a private room, but pretty much the worst room I've been in a while, if it gets hot like it was when i was there, a fan will help, but its not a very comfortable stay.

I've stayed at HI Youth Hostels in Portugal many times. I had been in this one in Abrantes once before. It was fine, on par with the others. But this time, the beds were so much more comfortable! It used to be my biggest complain. I wonder if they're upgrading all of them... Also, the breakfast was tastier than before (delicious homemade cakes!)

Staff was friendly, shower had hot water. Breakfast was ok.

Location is terrible. Isolation (thermic and acoustic) is awful. Room had 4 spiders and their webs (and they knew for a while that clients were comming). Shower plate was broken and rusty. Elevator was broken, tv on the common room was broken, and it was very cold inside. Couldn't sleep till 3am, because teenagers were running through the corridors, knocking on people's doors and pushing furniture. Same thing as most of the portuguese "Pousadas da Juventude", they need imediate renovation.

The hostel is very nice, and the staff were extremely kind and welcoming. We were impressed with how clean it was, and the breakfast was't bad at all for a simply hostel breakfast. The room temperature at night was perfect and the beds were comfortable.

Very friendly, helpful staff (with perfect English). Good breakfast. Large room. Breathtaking view.

Just a notice for travelers - you should be ready that the walk from the Abrantes railway station is not pleasant.
