It has been a little dream come true. Gaast is the most lovely little village in Friesland one could imagine to live in: little houses, the dijk, the sheep and the cows quietly ruminating in the fields, the windmills, the storks and the ducks along the navigable channels... the beautiful clouds on windy days, the striking light of the sun passing through them at noon. A truly relaxing place: the apartments at De Iisfugel are near the dijk, and one can spend hours on a bench looking at the sunset on the Ijsselmeer. The forniture provides a homey, coastal atmosphere: all is simple yet authentic, the beds are cosy, the roomy kitchen has everything is required (dishwasher and washing machine included), and when the temperature was pleasantly fresh... we arrived at home late in the evening, and found our hosts Maikke and Marc had the heating turned on for us: what could you ask for more? An important point: the apartment at ground level (an ex tapas bar) was ok for persons with limited movement possibility (crutches): one step and you are within the house, then one of the two bedrooms and the bathroom are at the same level -so no need for further steps. The bathroom can be a little more tricky in terms of space, but it is a matter of getting accostumed to it. The parking is 5mt away from the apartment's door; furtherly, one can enjoy a nice, private corner in the garden with bbq and an al fresco table, in the event of a dinner on the outside. It has been a lovely stay for my family and me: and we highly recommend it.

Bottle of white wine as a welcome gesture. Facilities ok, however, couldn't feel like home.

Ex bar transformed to the apparts . My kids didn't like them and were scared to stay alone during the night. Place far away from sightseeing objects / places. Nearest shop 5 km away. Was asked to pay a tourist fee 7.5 EUR despite the fact that during a booking procedure already paid 7.5 EUR a city fee.
