My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at this cute little hideaway on San Juan Island. It was such a treat with great views, a very functional kitchen, and a great use of such a small space. The only thing I would change is I wish the windowed doors had curtains over them for privacy (especially the back door). It is also a little far from Friday Harbor, but that just made for some fun driving around the island every day.

With darling shingled exterior and only 20 feet from the shore - the place was a quintessential island getaway. Inside I found a nice galley kitchen which provided everything I needed. I did buy some sea salt in a grinder which I hope is still there for others to use. The kitchen overlooks the living area with comfy sofa. good sized screen to cast your various streaming apps to, and a lovely gas fireplace. (Know that you need to get down on your hands and knees to toggle the switch up to turn the fireplace on... a bit cumbersome.) Sitting on the sofa, you look out over beautiful Garrison Bay and feel as though you are on a float over the water. Sooooo wonderful. The bedroom had open shelving an a few hooks to hang things on. As you're in the islands, no need to bring clothes that require hangers! Outside there are two paver patios, the one on the water side sporting two Adirondack chairs and cute portable fire pit. (BYOW... bring your own wood.) Wishing it had been a bit better weather so I could have enjoyed the patio - but that just means I'll need to come back again during warmer months. Side note - I met the owner on one of my trips back from town. He was delightful with such an interesting story of how he and his wife wound up with the property. (They live next door to the cottage.) If you are searching for a tranquil, waterfront place in the islands, search no further! You'll be glad you booked the Garrison Bay Hideaway.

There were some TV/Internet issues; however, it was a blessing to be able to unplug and unwind. When we reached out to the property management company, they were professional and took care of any issues immediately. The owner of the property even stopped by to ensure everything was working well. He was a delight and getting to connect with him was a bonus.We will definitely come back again. Trip of a lifetime. We truly loved the atmosphere and how easy to place your kayak on the water and head out . Such a beautiful scenery. We did have 2 days of Very low water pressure but we did fine .

We so wanted to stay longer! We were on the island for a wedding so this little gem was only a pit stop. But oh what a lovely pit stop!!!! So quiet and peaceful!!! Would have loved some written in structions for TV and washing machine and coffee maker. We older folks aren’t as intuitive as we used to be! Still 5 stars every day!

Our lodging was just darling! The perfect size for the 2 of us- it was cozy, clean, and full of wildlife viewings. Throughout the days while lounging at our Hideaway, we'd watch the harbor seal haul out, nurse their pups, and slink about in the water. There was never a dull moment while enjoying the views. Its own launching beach was convenient to push our own kayaks off from to paddle in the bay every evening. We did a lot of home cooking while staying here, and were never wanting for more amenities or appliances. We loved the location of Garrison Bay too- distance from the Friday + Roche Harbor scene but never felt remote or secluded in a negative way. Bopping into the other harbors was easy; we biked to Roche for an afternoon as intermediate road cyclists. We booked a kayak tour with the sister company and had a great experience with our guide, Wes. ( tip your guides! He was a wealth of information and a good time.) There was a small booking issue where we had a typo in an email but San Juan Prop Mngt quickly remedied the situation. They provided all the helpful resources to book our ferries- but we warned, book your ferries when you book your lodging! Our stay at Garrison Bay Hideaway was simply the best. Thank you so much to all the staff, housekeeping, and lovely owners a part of this special place.

This is a very cute, very well put together little house!! Waking up to all the animal noises as opposed to people noises was a real treat. Better was watching all the otters and their babies while having coffee on the beautiful patio. The house is in an inlet so fun to see the boats come in and out. We loved kayaking but not sure about being able to go around the corner for coffee in them;}. REAL TREAT!!!!

We could not have asked for a better place to stay. From the moment we arrived it exceeded our expectations. Stepping onto the little patio watching the seals, otters, and boats we immediately felt ourselves breath. The bed was so comfortable it was very clean and we had everything we needed. We definitely left a little piece of our heart there. Garrison Bay was truly magical.

Great little home on a very quiet cove. Location is great because it is away from the loud crowds of Friday Harbor and close to Roche Resort. We used all of the recommendations given and we weren’t disappointed in the least. Really great trip and perfect way to celebrate my wife and I being married 20 yrs. Thank you for the hospitality

Our stay was wonderful. The house is off the beaten path but still easy to get to everything. We spent the evenings outside on the porch just watching the water. It was quiet and peaceful. We debated staying here or in Friday Harbor. Glad we chose this place. You do need a car to get there! The house had basics but everything we needed. There were kcups for coffee. We slept well. There is a lot of light in the morning but it didn’t bother us at all. Wonderful hosts who were kind and welcoming! Highly recommend this place.

This stay was very good overall - excellent for 2 people. The view, the privacy, the peace and quiet, and the quality of the kitchen and bath wares were all appreciated. The wifi internet connection was solid and fast. Instructions and guidance on the cabin and water usage were good to see and accessing the cabin was straight-forward. The bed is soft as reported in other reviews but that’s a matter of personal preference. For cyclists, the last 200m of the access road is dirt and steep so be prepared to walk bikes that last distance. For kayakers, launching in the bay would be easy - the next time we visit we will certainly rent some kayaks. To save water, we used a pot in hand-washing dishes - a dishwashing tub that would fit in the sink would be a minor addition to the kitchen wares. It would have been nice to have met the owners to express our thanks in person. All in all, this was a little gem of a stay and we hope to return one day.

We thoroughly enjoyed the location right on the water. If the weather had been dry we would have sat our there for hours. We utilized the access for a quick kayak ride around Guss Island (about 1 mile round trip). The quaint little home is exactly what we expected in size and was wonderful. We wisely took a foldable table in order to do some puzzles. There isn't much room for a table, but we figured it out. We had to call the management company due to a very uncomfortable first night of sleep that ended with one of us on the couch. We don't think it was the mattress per se, but for sure the unstable/old box spring (or also the metal frame?). After putting the mattress directly on the floor, all our mattress problems stopped (thanks for coming to remove the box spring). We were a little surprised by the lack of privacy with the next door home (I think they are the owners of the home we were in), but it looks like they are currently working on some plantings (bushes and trees) that will likely improve that. Overall we loved the place and would come back. If the bed situation was the same, we would more quickly get the mattress on the floor.

Pros: secluded neighborhood, waterfront, well-stocked, nice back patio with fire pit, quiet part of the island. Cons: no drapes/blinds on doors (very bright in the morning, no privacy), no bedroom door, not private (present owner lives next door), loud construction noise, inconsistent messaging (sign says hand wash dishes but they left dishwasher tabs on the counter), parking very difficult, mattress caves in the center.

My wife and I enjoyed our 4 nights here. It was great to be able to launch our kayaks right from the property. In three days we paddled over 30 miles and enjoyed every minute. It was a great spot to come back to and view the seals and birds right from the comfort of the home. The owners are building next door, they helped us decide the best place to park and gave us a few tips about the property when they saw us arrive. We didn't really hear any construction noise the whole rest of our stay. We felt the kitchen was well outfitted and cooked in for most of our meals. We didn't bring k-cups for the Keurig but did bring coffee and there was a French press available. The only downside for us was the bed. I saw one other review mention it and didn't think about it much. It felt like a worn out memory foam mattress and if I didn't hook a leg over the edge we kind of rolled towards the middle. We struggle with sore backs for us this was an issue. I hate to mention it as the place was otherwise perfect for our needs but it is definitely something to be aware of if you are used to a mattress with more support.

We would absolutely come back. A few friendly suggestions would be to remove the dish washer from the list of amenities. If we're not allowed to use it, it should not be listed. There was no spatula (other than the one for the BBQ) & didn't want to use that on the non-stick pan to flip our eggs so may want to get one. Might want to check the water faucet in bathtub/shower, wasted a lot of water getting the right temp & also getting the shower head to stop making a high pitch screech (had to keep resetting the lever that puts water to the shower head). I know that water is limited on the island & this definitely caused us to use more water. These are all very minor & just suggestions from one nightly rental owner to another, nothing that would keep us away. The place is beautiful and we would definitely come back & recommend it to our friends.

A perfect getaway right on the water. The neighborhood is quiet and the ambiance is great. If I had to suggest one improvement I'd say the bed is too soft. Other than that, highly recommended.

We had a lovely week at this perfect spot on San Juan Island. Kayaking from this cabin to the Westcott Shellfish Company for oysters was a highlight. We enjoyed peaceful evenings cooking on the grill and sitting out on the patio. We hope to return it was a wonderful find.

This property on the waters edge of Garrison Bay didn’t disappoint. Cabin was adorable and well appointed. We enjoyed watching otters and seals and their babies right off our patio. We definitely recommend this property for a quiet romantic getaway and hope to return.

It was a wonderful stay with wonderful views. A very relaxing mini vacation for us. The only complaint is the bed was uncomfortable for us but it is not an uncomfortable bed simply too soft for our liking. The owners were pleasant and always nearby. We would definitely stay here again.

Our first night was the night of the first January 6 hearing, so were were very eager to tune in and listen. We had to connect and reconnect several times. If someone needs to do remote work while staying here (and need a decent internet connection while doing so), it may be hard. We also did a lot of precleaning whilst paying a cleaning fee.

That rug stayed wet our entire stay. It was cold to walk on and we could not stand on the rug long otherwise our socks became wet. Did not have a place to put dry goods that we brought except on the window counter near the eating space.
