We were a group of 15 spanning 5 generations. We stayed at Ficus Villa for a week. The entire stay was simply amazing. The Villa is way better than the pictures. The pool was fantastic. All the rooms were comfortable, the common spaces were great for family hangouts. The best experience was the concierge team and the housekeeper. They ended up becoming our extended family and helped us have one amazing experience after another keeping our preferences in mind and being very reactive and attentive even with last minute changes. We cannot recommend this place enough. The place is great, but the concierge team will make it a truly exceptional experience.

This house is a stunner, perfect for a big family or group of friends vacationing together. Open kitchen with state-of-the art appliances and a beautiful living room area that opens up into a gorgeous pool and terrace. Outside, there's another big area with an outdoor kitchen and plush couches, plus the cutest basket swing seats hanging from big trees. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and luxurious. If that wasn't enough, it's located in a private community that has tennis courts, a beach club with pool and full service tiki bar, AND a manicured bike path for mountain bikiing with rentals available! You are close to Tamarindo and all its fun restaurants, shops, and surf spots. Cannot recommend this house highly enough.

I had a pleasant and relaxing stay with a group of five at Ficus Villas. The highlight of my stay was the walk in shower which was a true spa experience and one I wish I could build into my own home. The details were tasteful and thoughtful -- pebble floor tiles, wood tones, views of the garden from the window, and great water pressure. The location is convenient and allowed us to surf breaks up and down the Guanacaste coast, and once we were done for the day, Ficus Villas was great for hanging out and retreating from the equatorial sun. Highly recommend.

From the moment we stepped on property it was clear we made the right choice for our Costa Rica vacation rental! The Ficus Villas was beautiful, comfortable, and clean - we felt right at home the entire stay. The staff was always accessible and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay even that much more enjoyable - thank you!

The highlights of the property: - Large outdoor entertainment area with grill table sinks and tables and chairs. This provides you lots more room for guests to enjoy themselves in different areas of the home. - Large distance between the bedrooms. The separate structure for half the bedrooms gives guests privacy, as does the distance between the bedrooms within the house structure. - Challenging and leisure mountain biking trails. The Hacienda Pinilla bike shop rents very nice modern mountain bikes, including electric touring bikes. The trails have a large variety of challenges and amazing views by the beach. - Horseback riding, diving/snorkeling and other leisure boat rentals are nearby and very easy to schedule. - The surfing is world class, and the beach club makes it very easy to grab a board and enjoy the surf or just swim by the pool with a drink and food. This is really the main attraction and the beach club makes things very easy. - The main living area is a great congregation with an open kitchen, lots of social space and it feels like a large single area with a pool. Oh, yeah it has an amazing pool that brings everything together. The space is very clean and well maintained. No issues with the plumbing security or parking. When we went there were some bumpy unpaved roads but it's mostly paved. You can still make a big supermarket nearby with ease.

My stay at the Ficus Villa was truly unbelievable. The property is second to none. I came with friends and loved that each room had its own bathroom and level of seclusion, making it a perfect getaway for couples retreats or groups of friends. Furthermore, the associated amenities were first class and all the staff was incredibly accommodating. Will certainly be coming back here again!

Where do I begin? This was an absolutely amazing stay! I booked this house for a bachelorette trip for 15 girls, it ended up being 12 but the space was perfect! We had an ample amount of space to hang out and relax, the outdoor patio was a frequent hang-out spot. Jose, Mergie and the rest of the Vida Pinilla team were amazing when it came to communication and helping set up things for our arrival. I would definitely recommend using the pre-stocking option unless you have your own transportation. The villa is secluded which is nice for privacy but you have to drive everywhere. The house was clean upon arrival and Erica, the housekeeper made sure it stayed that way and also prepared us breakfast. (No service is provided Sunday). We also enjoyed having the washer/dryers available. It rained a few times we were there, but the house was so spacious and had many entertainment options, that we didn’t feel like we wasted any of our vacation. I would definitely recommend this property for large groups! Everyone in my group throughly enjoyed their stay.

Everything was perfect from the time we got there. Mergie made our experience the best ever and made sure all of our needs were taken care of. We probably contacted her more than most guests but she never failed to answer a call or respond to a text regardless of the time of day. The house was beautiful and just as described in the post. This was a family vacation and we will definitely be back and hope to work with the same team of people that assisted us with the house. Oh, I can't forget Diego, the shuttle driver! He was the best unofficial tour guide and made the trip from the airport to the house seem not so short with his knowledge of the areas we were passing.

This house was perfect from beginning to end for our family of 12... 6 adults, 4 kids and 2 babies. It was very clean upon arrival and there was a huge platter of freshly sliced fruit to welcome us. The daily housekeeping worked out so well having the linens changed out every day, washing the dishes, keeping the floors swept and mopped and everything looking like we had just walked in for the first time. The pool was perfect and the yard so nice and beautifully lit at night. We enjoyed the use of the Hacienda Beach Club nearly every day and it was nice to be able to go from beach to pool easily. We walked to Lola's one day for lunch which took about 20 minutes but was fun and easy for everyone. All in all everything was perfect and we'd definitely like to go back one day.

The house was beautiful and such a fun space to be in. We loved the proximity to the beach club and to the other villas around as well. But even more notable than this, was the quality of the house management team. They really served not just as house managers but as a full concierge service that was willing to help us with all of our needs no matter how big or small. I definitely recommend staying here!

This house was just as it is pictured~perfect! It was a wonderful place for our family of 14 ranging in age from grandparents to a 2-year-old. The house, the pool, the outside areas had everything we wanted or needed. Joel and Mergie were always quick to respond, from the planning of our trip to anything we needed during the vacation. Erica made an amazing breakfast each day and kept us organized, and always gave us a perfectly clean house to come back to at the end of a busy day exploring Costa Rica. Such a treat! Pura Vida!!

I loved my time here at the villa! The staff was very responsive and willing to help with whatever I needed. I'd go back just to stay at this villa.

The property was absolutely beautiful! Better than the pictures. Everything felt so luxurious!! There was so much space for our group and everyone had their own private space. Ample sleeping arrangements. The communal areas were fantastic and so was the pool. We utilized these spaces every night and morning. The housekeeper came everyday to keep things tidy. Felt very safe with 2 gates to get through to access the villa. Lots to do within the gated community including the beach club (other things offered by the hosts like horseback riding/ziplining). The hosts were very communicative and quickly responded to every inquiry. Utilized the host's taxi service into Tamarindo (about 25 min) multiple times and they were very reliable. Grocery store options nearby (minimart and supermarket). The stay was absolutely perfect and I would recommend the villa to anybody!

I cannot recommend this house any higher. The house was everything we expected and the hosts were phenomenal. Super fast communication with no issues whatsoever the entire time we were there. Everything you need is close and convenient. Thank you Mergie for a great stay

We stayed 11 night in August with a family of 12 (6 adults, 6 teenagers). The accommodations were exactly as noted in the written profile. The communication was perfect, the home gorgeous and clean. If you aren’t satisfied…that may be you more than the home. We travel a fair amount and this rates up there for Vrbo accommodations. The space was more than enough for everyone to spread out — loved the messy teens in the other house! The only thing unexpected was that the third bedroom (the non-master off the pool) in the main house has the bathroom outside the room next to laundry, not inside the room like the other two rooms in the main home - not an issue as everyone has their own bathroom per room, but different than the other rooms. I may have missed that note in the profile. An absolute must is golf cart rentals and a car. The Hacienda Pinilla property is huge and it’s warm so walking to the beach club isn’t feasible. There is so much to explore on the golf carts and the kids loved the mobility. Make sure to visit Tamarindo - great shopping and some excellent food (Pangas, Bamboo Sushi, Patagonia were memorable). Ironically, after too many recommendations from locals and visitors to list, we finally went to Il Rustico (Italian, no less) and the night was perfection from ambiance to spectacular cuisine — a howler monkey watched from the tree! This restaurant is a 15 minute golf cart ride away headed to Playa Avellanas. If you make it a bit farther you should check out Lola’s for an afternoon cocktail/visit or surf lesson. Don’t bother researching excursion providers. Mergie/Joel have vetted all providers. Tell them what you are interested in and go that route. Prices are same. A small, private, well appointed gym just opened up while we were there that is part of the gated community Ficus Villas are in, this was better for us as the Hacienda Pinilla beach club gym was often busy. Pool at house was excellent and we spent a ton of time both at the beach club pool and in our own. Pura Vida! Thank you, Joel and Mergie. It was wonderful!

The community of Hacienda Pinilla is beautiful, calm, and relaxing. Our group of 16 enjoyed lounging around the pool, cooking meals in the beautiful, well-stocked kitchen, and visiting the Beach Club. Mergie, the concierge was extremely kind and attentive. The best part for the kids/teens was driving around the golf carts. Keep in mind that this home is part of a HUGE gated community. You absolutely MUST have a car to exist here as supermarkets are a 20 minute drive from the house at minimum. Definitely bring groceries with you or take them up on their offer to stock the kitchen prior to your arrival. After an adventure-filled week in Manuel Antonio, Hacienda Pinilla was the perfect place to relax before heading back to life in the real world…

Our family/friends just got back from our week long stay at Costa Rica. The house is impeccable, from the time we pulled up to their front door, where our housekeeper Ericka greeted us. Rooms were cleaned and the place was so welcoming. We loved the lounge area and the hanging egg chairs. Our kids enjoyed the pool every day even after our excursions and even in the rain. They did not care. Mergie was amazing, so detailed and organized. She helped with every bit of our planning from stocking food, private chef service, transportation and all our excursions. Everyone in the group left a long lasting impressionable memory that will last a lifetime especially for the kids. We will definitely be back for a visit again in the near future!!

We just spent the last five days at the Ficus Villas. Mergie and Joel were so easy to work with and communication was perfect from the moment we reserved house until departure. The house is better than pictures. Everything is as it says in description and well stocked. We have rented various properties and have even owned a vacation property and Mergie is the best person we have ever dealt with on a huge rental We rented baby equipped from the company they recommended and golf carts as well and all were delivered on time and as they should have been. I would absolutely rent this property again. We loved it so much we are considering building one of our own!

Our group of 9 thought the property was excellent. It provided great common areas inside and out but also allowed each of us some private time when needed.

Great experience

We had a group of 3 families (17 people) who stayed at this property and we were blown away how amazing it was! The hosts were super accommodating to all of our needs before we arrived, easy to communicate with, and made everything comfortable and beautiful during our stay. The house was perfect for all of us to gather and spend time together. Lots of rooms and beds for each couple and all of our kids! There were so many nice touches around the property that all of us loved such as the the chair swings, the outdoor space, pool, and the decor inside. It was kept so clean, and the housekeeper was really nice and did a great job. We really enjoyed the access to the Avellanas Beach Club as well! We can’t say enough good things about this home, the area, and the kindness of the hosts.

Beautiful stay from start to finish. Hosts are very responsive, house is absolutely gorgeous, housekeeper was fantastic, any issues (there were only minor) were answered immediately. We are a family of 12 (grandparents, 2 couples, 3 adult kids and 3 children. Plenty of beds and bathrooms to satisfy everyone. The location is wonderful, I would recommend getting a golf cart to go to local beaches, Marriott and beach club. My only complaint was not with the property but the dirt road getting into the neighborhood is a bit of a drag. Only a couple miles. Also, they are really strict on people coming in and out of the gated community, it's great because you feel secure and safe but it's tough getting drivers in to come pick you up for excursions. But I would like to thank the hosts and staff, made our family trip extremely memorable. Pura Vida!

We visited Ficus Villas for the Christmas holiday. It was perfect! We had 2 families with 4 teenagers. There was plenty of space for everyone, either as an entire group or different areas for the different ages. We had a beautiful dinner outside for 12 people under the twinkling lights, the kids played Wii on the big screen TV, we hungout in the pool in the mornings/evenings. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for any type of meal. All the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Plus, there were lots of beach towels to take to all the wonderful beaches in Hacienda Pinilla. Joel and Mergi were fantastic -- very informative and super helpful. We are already planning our next trip!

This was our first time in Costa Rica and didn’t know what to expect. This was hands down the best place to stay. The owner Joel and house manager Mergie provide my family with everything we needed before and during the trip. Mergie helped us with our rental car, covid test and so much more. With the pool and outdoor area central to all bedrooms and kitchen space, this indoor/outdoor experience was perfect for our big family. 16 of us stayed very comfortably. Multiple amenities in Hacienda Pinilla and close to all conveniences- beaches, restaurants, grocery stores, and more!! Mergie and Joel were very helpful with recommendations for food and excursions, security was amazing, Ericka was so kind and left the place clean and fresh when needed, the pool was cleaned daily, we had everything we needed to prepare large family meals, and we could not have asked for a better place to stay while we were on vacation.
