We stayed two weeks in this home and enjoyed our time, and would recommend the home to others. PROS: * Home was cleaned very well upon our arrival. There were no traces of sand anywhere. * The home is right on the beach with beautiful ocean views from the living area and all decks. We were inside a lot and enjoyed being able to enjoy the ocean without being on it, and watch sunsets on the opposite deck with views of Folly River. * Plenty of living space for several young children to run around and play. There were a few child safety gates for the stairs we found in the home. * Beautiful, large master bedroom. * Well-stocked kitchen with pots, pans, appliances, etc. * Private outdoor shower with warm water was a plus for showering kids after the beach. CONS: * Lots of carpenter ants became active at night in the house. We called to have pest control come out at the beginning of our stay, which could have made it worse while we were there. It wasn't fun having bugs crawling in bed at night. * Elevator worked, but was a little finnicky. We had to reset the breaker to get it to turn on initially, and the door latches stuck a few times (we learned to push up on the door when entering/exiting). It's also not clear from the photos, but the elevator not does go to the top floor of the property (the living area), so some stair climbing is still required. * Interior of the home looks a little dated, and some things are in need of repair. Many of the light bulbs or fixtures would not turn on, and one of the window A/C units was broken (though the home stayed cool enough without it). We tried to use the cable box once, but it kept disconnecting. * Beach area was smaller than we were expecting during high tide (the water could reach the stairs). The beach was not crowded, though, so we could still find space during high tide, but there was less to do with young, active children. Perhaps the 2024 renourishment of Folly Beach will aid this.

House was clean and spacious. Location was perfect, right on the beach with great view of the marsh. Clean but very dated and worn furniture, bathrooms and doors to outside.

House location was fantastic! We were right on the ocean but also able to see the sunsets on the intercostal waterway on the street side. Far enough off of center st (right past the washout surfing area) that the beach area was not overcrowded. However, i would suggest renting a golf cart (folly beach adventures was fantastic-all electric and they deliver) if you plan on going into folly frequently. Dolphins frequently passed by and we saw para surfers and more. Would definitely come back.

"This property has such great potential. It's a beautiful location with direct beach access. However, they are making no efforts to maintain the property. We chose this property as a family vacation where 3 families came together with 2 young children. I would not recommend this property to families. The air conditioning does not cool the whole house. The beginning of the week, the house was layered in floral perfume cleaning products, surely to mask the extreme mustiness that ensued mid-week. The sliding doors require an adult male strength to open or close, assuming the door handle exists or is not falling off. Power outlets are falling out of the walls. The upstairs bedroom has no ventilation and as mentioned, with minimal upstairs A/C, you are sleeping in humid, 80 degrees. The home needs dehumidifiers. All these concerns were relayed to the ownership company, they did offer options to rectify but more importantly, why not put these efforts into maintaining the home? Just sad."

Great location and scenic views from every level

This was our 4th vacation at this property over the past 5 years (no vacation in 2020 due to Covid). The first year we stayed, the house was in great shape. The elevator from ground level to the 1st floor is a necessity for luggage and groceries (esp cases of water) as the two flights of front steps leading to the main entrance are very, very steep. Each subsequent year that we returned, the property had issues (e.g., last year the oven did not work). This year the bathrooms were not cleaned well, the AC could not cool the house without window AC units (which were brought in last minute and their shipping boxes had to be removed) and the elevator never worked which was a serious issue as my daughter is 6 months pregnant and I have a leg injury. The Vacasa property manager responded quickly, but said the owner had to approve any repairs which they did not during our stay. We also heard from Vacasa that the property changed owners since our first stay, and it was clear they did not intend to maintain the property like the previous owner. We did not complain in the past and worked around the issues last year, but over the past 5 years, the rental price has more than doubled while the property has declined. We have enjoyed our vacations at Folly Beach, but unfortunately this will be the last at this "Low Places" property, a fitting name for the wrong reasons.
