Have visited Casa Sun Dog multiple times in the past five years and will continue visiting this home away from home location! Absolutely beautiful home with superior service. Location is perfect to all things - beach, fishing, golfing, Tamarindo, or just relaxing by the pool in a very private back yard! An amazing experience every time we visit!

We rented for a week with four couples for our first visit to Costa Rica. Hacienda Pinilla property with amenities was perfect for everything we wanted during the week. House was perfect and the housekeeper who was there daily was so great to us! Beach club, golf, horseback riding and mountain bikes were right there and Longcosta beach was beautiful for relaxing. We rented a car from the location at the Marriott right down the road which was really convenient also. Quick 20 minutes into Tamrindo and approximately 90 mins to/from Liberia airport so everything was very close. Will definitely book again!

Staying at Casa Sundog was the most magnificent vacation experiences I have ever had! The house is equipped with everything you could possibly think of or want. There were 14 of us that stayed at Casa Sundog yet it did not feeling like; very spacious and comfortable amenities. The daily housekeeping staff are extremely gracious and always do a fabulous job. The instruction manual for the house is user friendly and filled with useful information about the local attractions. Highly recommended! Already planning my next stay at Casa Sundog. Pura Vida!!

It was my first time vacationing to Costa Rica and needless to say this place was AMAZING!! It was so clean and had everything we needed. It was such a beautiful and comfortable place to stay and the backyard has an awesome pool & spa. I will definitely be staying here again!!

If you can believe it, this house is better than the photos! I have never slept in a more comfortable bed, the housecleaner keeps things tidy, does laundry if you'd like, and had a welcome local fruit platter set out for us upon our arrival. The house manager is amazing and available to help with activity recommendations, shuttles, etc. The house is in a safe, gorgeous neighborhood with multiple pristine beaches nearby - you can pour a cocktail and drive to the beach in under 2 minutes to catch the most gorgeous sunsets you have ever seen. You can get to Tamarindo in under 30 minutes for some shopping or a big evening out. We hired a massage therapist to come to the house who set up outside near the pool and fountain under the patio. Every day we hit up a new beach and local beach bars and restaurants (all within a quick 5-minute drive). The monkeys even came to visit! We cooked and enjoyed many evenings by the pool while the guys watched football on the outdoor TV. Plenty of room for multiple families! The house is spacious, so very comfortable and is beautifully decorated. You will leave feeling like you just spent a week at the spa.

Our group of 4 families loved Casa Sundog inside and out. The rooms had comfortable beds and good air conditioning. The bedding and towels were clean and of high quality. There were ample pool towels for everyday swimming. The washer and dryer were in good working order. The kitchen, living room, play room and pool deck provided plenty of space for all of us to hang out, play cards, and dine. The house manager was in the house everyday 8 am to noon to clean and keep everything in order. The property managers were very responsive. We communicated via the message board on the VRBO app and email before arriving and WhatsApp during our stay. All the recommendations by the property manager worked out perfectly - car rental, chef, and yoga instructor. Thank you Casa Sundog for helping make our vacation the perfect vacation!

The Stay was for all of our family around the world all meeting in Costa Rica for 10 days. Family flying back home thinking it was the best trip of our lives. Thank you to everyone at the Villa we are just blown away by how great it was.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Casa Sundog. They home is just as described with every amenity you can think of. My adult children and grandbabies enjoyed the pool every day. We spent great quality time eating and hangin out indoor/outdoor, playing ping pong, etc. The rooms were fantastic, so much space! The location is very safe. Housekeeping services were so helpful to allow us more time on our vacation. Vida Pinilla is incredibly responsive and always available to make sure you have everything you need. I would recommend Casa Sundog to my family and friends.

House was amazing, even better in person. Very convenient to beach and other amenities. Joel and his team at Vida Pinillia are absolutely incredible. Can’t say enough about the management and hospitality. Will definitely be back and staying at one of there properties!

Wow experience…. House is beautiful and has everything you might need. The Hosts were marvelous in arranging for trips, shuttles, golf carts, restaurants, etc. Liandra who came each morning to clean etc was the best ever! Don’t hesitate to book this one!

Our stay at Casa Sundog was more perfect than we could have anticipated. Upon arrival, we were all shocked by how beautiful the home and property was. The pictures online do not do it justice. There was plenty of space for our group of 12 to spread out and have privacy, along with the common areas to relax, eat and enjoy. The bunk room and rec room were perfect for the four kids staying - ages 3, 7, 10 and 11. I will point out there there are only showers in this house, no bathtub. It wasn't a problem for us at all, but I could see how this might be helpful if you have younger kids. The rest of the rooms were wonderful too. Beds were a little hard, especially in the room closest to the bunk room, but thankfully we all crashed hard at the end of the day where nobody had trouble sleeping. The only hiccup we had the entire time was communication with management for transportation. They were super attentive and nice, but communication was regularly crossed between dealing with two different people, texting, and using WhatsApp. It got confusing at times. You can't just order an Uber last minute to go shopping, etc. so research what you want to do and plan ahead if possible. And absolutely get a golf cart for your stay to explore and get to the beach club. Overall, everyone left saying it was "the best vacation ever". We'd happily stay here again. Management, housekeeping, and the people of Costa Rica were all incredible. Pura Vida. We can't wait to come back.

This property was amazing. Leandra took great care of us and was so pleasant. Joel and the management team did a superb job of taking care of our needs, including transportation, helping with the catering service (which was also amazing). This was our best trip ever, and it was our 20th anniversary ladies golf trip!

The house was extremely beautiful. The only thing I would suggest is mirrors in the bedrooms and a better transportation system

We had a wonderful stay at Sundog. The house was beautiful and in great shape. There was a lot of room to spread out and everyone got their own bed/bath. The pool was super clean and a great temp! The staff was amazing and the property manager was very responsive. The manager provided a tremendous amount of local information re transportation, restaurants, grocery, activities, etc, We rented a golf cart, used the private pool/beach club daily and went to a number of restaurants. We loved Tamarindo, went deep sea fishing, zip lining, learned to surf and adventured to an eco park. Great vacation and great property!

We loved staying at the house. Joel and Mergie helped us arrange all our food , transportation, and activities during the stay. The woman - I believe leandra - they have that comes to the house to clean and cook breakfast was amazing. We used Pura Vida catering for 2 dinners and we loved it! Awesome meals. We used ITACA for breakfast - would use Leandra instead or Pura Vida again. We used Manta Ray sailing and did the sunset cruise - had fun snorkeling and paddle boarding. Enjoyed Hacienda Pinilla beach club. Had great massages at the house two days. We went to Lolas - next time we will skip that as it is far on the golf carts and very bumpy. Renting golf carts is a must - we loved driving around and looking at wildlife. We just wished there was one more full length mirror in the upstairs bathroom or one of the bedrooms as we had 5 girls getting ready that wanted to look at outfits. Definitely will rebook and comeback. This place was incredible. Also, we went to Patagonia for dinner - Mergie and Joel arranged our taxi - and the food was so good then we we went to Chiquita cocktail bar after. BEST VRBO we have ever rented and in an awesome area. Thank you for an amazing stay!

It was the perfect place to throw my best friends bachelorette trip! It was such an amazing time. Our housekeeper was absolutely amazing, making us breakfast in the mornings! The property manager was so communicative the ENTIRE trip, even times I felt like a bother! She helped with booking transportation and any questions we had! It was so beautiful and spacious fitting all 8 of us and could’ve fitted more! Please book this stay, and make sure to tip your folks WELL!

This was our second stay at Casa Sundog and it was just as amazing as the first time. The house is incredible, the location is perfect, and Mergie (the on-site host) is awesome! If you’re lucky enough to find open dates for this house, do not hesitate to book - there is no better place to stay at Hacienda Pinilla!

My friends and I stayed at this property for 4 nights for a girlfriends getaway and had the best time! There was plenty of space for the 10 of us and the amenities were just fantastic - pool, media room, dining space, indoor and outdoor hangout spaces, proximity to the beach club, car services etc. Mergie the property manager made things so easy for us right from the time of the booking to the time we got there, providing suggestions and help with airport transfers, restaurant reservations, excursion bookings, pre-stocking the kitchen, arranging for a private chef to cook dinner for us, etc. Leandra, the housekeeper was also sweet and made us delicious breakfast each morning! You will be in a beautiful modern home here but still amidst nature - we had howler monkeys come party with us each evening! :) Highly recommend this property for a group trip of friends or family!

The house was amazing - perfect for our family. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and the kids particularly enjoyed the bunk room and the play room with ping pong table. The outdoor area is wonderful to relax - read a book, swim, and cook. Leandra, the housekeeper, was a gem - very sweet and helped with the children and laundry every day so we didnt come home with the dreaded piles of dirty clothes. Mergie was AMAZING and very communicative. We had an issue with the wifi and streaming services in the playroom upon arrival and she immediately came back to help correct it. She also gave great recommendations of things to do/places to eat. We will absolutely be back and bring friends. Already missing Costa Rica and Casa Sundog.

Beautiful house, well appointed with everything we needed! The kids loved the pool and games room. The house was very clean and comfortable. The house managers helped us arrange transportation, excursions, grocery delivery, golf cart rentals and even private chefs (Garrett from Pura Vida one night; Chef Antonio another) to prepare delicious dinners. Leandra, the housekeeper, is very sweet and prepared breakfast, which was much appreciated by the whole group! Lots to do in Hacienda Pinilla. We loved the beach (both the beach club and lovely Playa Langosta) and a horse ride through the stables on property.

This was a wonderful vacation. We cannot wait to return.

Casa sundog exceeded our expectations! Joel and Mergie were extremely responsive and helpful with all of our pre trip planning and during our stay. The home itself is beautiful and spacious, the kitchen is well stocked for all cooking needs. We loved the location, the large pool /outdoor living area and daily housecleaning. This rental was outstanding! The home was pristine, communication with Mergie was exceptional. She was always helpful leading up to the trip and helped us the entire time we were there as well! The transportation was flawless and they accommodated all of our needs! The house is beautiful and clean, kitchen fully stocked but still a great home for young kids, we had 4 kids under the age of 5! Leandra helped with preparing breakfast every day and cleaning and she was such a gift to us the whole trip! We loved hacienda pinilla, the beach club and the beach itself. So many shells and tide pools to explore! We absolutely loved everything about this trip and can’t wait to come back!! Pura Vida!

Casa Sundog was an amazing home that provided our large group of 8 with plenty of space and high end amenities. We especially enjoyed the well appointed kitchen, outdoor dining, pool and bar area. Our daily cleaning lady, Leandra, was delightful, hard working and a joy to have around. Our host was extremely helpful with arranging chef services, transportation, zip line excursion, and golf tee times. We can't wait to return to Costa Rica and Casa Sundog!

This property is gated and beautiful! I would definitely come back and stay here. The property manager, Joel is very responsive to your needs and referrals. Rent golf carts to get around the property for easy access to JW Marriott and Beach Club.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Sundog over the holidays in 2021. The house is beautiful and spacious for two families (10 people total). The layout is perfect with a large communal living/dining/kitchen space and a separate games/TV room and good separation with the sleeping quarters. The pool and outdoor area are the best part of the property and are terrific for hanging out as a group. A few of items to highlight about the property; 1) Joel and Mergie were very responsive and helped us book transportation and solving minor issues at the house, 2) the bedding, bath towels and beach towels were luxurious and there are plenty of them, 3) the pantry has an extra fridge which is a bonus and the kitchen is very well equipped, 4) we rented golf carts from Paradise Cart Rentals ( paradisecartrentals.com) to ride around Hacienda Pinilla including the Beach Club, golf course or the Marriott – you need either golf carts or a car – nothing is walking distance, 5) there is limited restaurants nearby, suggest booking Pura Vida Catering ([email protected]) for dinners cooked at the house, the Beach Club for lunch, park at the Beach Club and walking to Lola’s for lunch and if you book in Tamarindo for dinners, you need to arrange transportation. The beach at Hacienda Pinilla was the most amazing surprise, so beautiful and wide open, great for surfing or playing in the waves, not crowded with lovely sand to walk on and the most amazing sunsets. Highly recommend Casa Sundog for a family vacation.

For our two families of five (with kids ranging from age 4 to 20) Casa Sundog was like a dream come true. The house is beautifully laid out and outfitted so we all slept comfortably, enjoyed cooking and sharing meals together, and were able to find a nook to read and relax when needed. The Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club, Playa Avellanas, Playa Negra and Tamarindo were all easily accessible. Best of all, Mergie was always very responsive to our questions and requests. She really saved the day when we found ourselves short one at-home covid antigen test the day before our flight home. She helped us find a replacement kit and arranged a video call with an accredited doctor in the US so we were able to get home without a hitch. Thank you Mergie, our very own angel! We would love to come back to Casa Sundog again!
