Location, friendly staff, hotel was very clean

Well laid out apartments surrounding a good size pool. The studio apartment we had was ideal for 2 people and well equipt. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are a few restaurants quite close but the main part of Plantanes is about a 10 minute walk. The main centre of Rethymno is about 3 miles away. Plenty buses at 1.20 euros or taxi at 10 euros.

I think we had some wrong expectations, based on the other places we stayed in Crete which were a little more expansive. We enjoyed our stay, but there are things that can be improved. Also, most guests seem positive, so we might have just had bad luck. Its more of a family destination than a couples retreat. The guests are mostly families. This makes the pool very crowded with 60+ rooms. - after arrival we have to walk back to the bar to ask for wifi, breakfast and safe information. None of this was told upon arrival and there is no info sheet in the room. - there was a blood stain on a pillow. After handing it in, we did get a clean one. There were also smaller stains on other bed cloth. - room smells a little old (if that makes sense, i dont know how else to describe it). Especially when you open the closet, the smell is very stale and we didnt want to put clothes in there. - wifi is terribly slow in the room, even just loading websites is sometimes impossible. Also, in our lower room, the 4g/5g reception is terrible, even for surfing web. Upside: wifi and mobile is strong in reception and pool area - airco is very noisy at times, right above your bed. It makes weird noises sometimes. In fairness, we didn't complain about it but did inform the hotel when we left. - description on booking.con says sea, garden or swimming pool view from your patio. We had none: just a wall at 1 meter. - minor: first hotel in crete that does not have a free water bottle in the fridge upon arrival and no hair products at all. - using the safe costs extra, but the service is not marked as "extra charge" on booking.com, only in a details page somewhere (might even be in between old covid details). Its not expensive, but doesn't feel right. - sound isolation could be better. - no multiple power outlets next to beds. Had to move one of the beds to access a single one which was behind it. - unexpectedly, we had two single beds instead of a double.

Really kind staff, everything clean and a pool area with beautiful bougainvillean flowers and a bar and everything located pretty convenient, even if you don‘t have a car, you‘re ar the beach in 15minutes.

The Apollon is a small family run hotel. The hotel is in a resort just outside Rethymno and is not too busy but with enough to make it interesting and give plenty of choices. The apartments in the hotel are spacious and of a high quality with an outdoor seating area. The kitchen area has everything you need to make light snacks and drinks. Everywhere is very clean and serviced regularly. The pool is just perfect to swim or relax in. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine for our breakfast every morning with a choice of cooked eggs and fresh cold meat, cheese, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice etc. The Apollon is close enough to the main shopping/restaurant area but far away enough to be peaceful. Just follow the signs for a short walk (approx. 8-10 minutes) to the beach. The whole area has a good choice of restaurants, all reasonably priced. The bus route is easily accessible and there are always taxis available close to the main street. Everyone we met was very friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of shops advertising excursions and activities. We enjoyed two excellent trips by coach from the Klados Panagiotis company and they were interesting, informative and excellent value for money, enabling us to see more of beautiful Crete without hiring a car.

Beautiful flowers everywhere. Very clean! Great swimming pools. There were no problem to check in at night.

Everything was ok :) I would put some dish soap in the kitchen and another set of towels for using on sunbeds.

Best breakfest we have eaten during our stay in Crete. Great pool with bar nearby. Staff polite and kind, room clean and comfortable. Restaurants near the hotel. We had really great stay here.

Great swimming pool area!

The facility is located 10-15 minutes walk from the beach. There is a large supermarket nearby. There are cheap restaurants nearby. The property has a large swimming pool. The facility is not crowded. Breakfasts are not big but absolutly enaugh and available for a long part of the morning. The hosts are very friendly and helpful in every matter. The rooms are very large for a relatively cheap price. Equipped with kitchenettes. The rooms are cleaned every two days. The facility has a games room with billiards and table tennis. You can get to Retymno by the nearby bus no. 20, which runs every 30 minutes. We recommend a trip to the aquapark in Panormos. In Rethymno is also a Venetian fortress with beautiful views The bus goes to Panormos and Rethymno. At the peak of summer vacation, it is good that the facility is located away from the center of rethymna. It is very crowded in the center. Compared to my Rhodos trip during same summer Crete is cheaper. Me and my son were very happy to stay in this property. It was excellent relaxing 10 days.

Breakfast could be a little more variety but that's a detail. I have no other comments.

Atmposhere. Location in a calm place. Good tavernas around.

Beds were not very comfortable

The location was perfect, right between two major cities. The staff were all very attentive and welcoming, very polite and wonderful hosts. The location is perfect to explore the north coast line of Crete. We had a hire car to enable us to travel at our own pace, however, bus tours pick up from near this location.

Staff were very very nice and went beyond expectation to help when needed. Reasonably price and not too far from the main strip.

Gem of a find away from the bustle of Rethimnon but within walking distance but not on a hot day. Lovely restaurants and supermarket close by as well as a bakery. On site shop too small didn't have breakfast within hotel but in our apartment. Would thoroughly recommend and would stay again. Pool and area is clean and well maintained.

Maybe more parking space but wasn't really a big issue as street parking is ok.
