Highly recommend. Sweet hotel with spacious private rooms. A bit out of the main town but easily walkable and plenty to see and do nearby. Staff were very helpful and adaptable; did our laundry washing, changed breakfast times to suit our transport and recommended some great excursions.

I would love to give a higher rating to this hotel but unfortunately I can’t. I’d probably give it a 6 or a 7 if it wasn’t for the incredibly kind and hospitable hosts who do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Their welcoming and friendly attitudes were incredibly comforting and put a smile on our faces every day. Sadly, we were left disappointed by most other aspects of the hotel considering the money we paid. For a start, the WiFi stopped working on the second day of our stay and was never repaired until we checked out 4 days later, even though the staff told us it would be fixed no later than the next day. Secondly, our bed sheets were dirty upon arrival and our room had a fairly unpleasant smell. Staff addressed the dirty sheets promptly and tried to resolve the smell but unfortunately it persisted. In general the hotel was tatty and needed a lick of paint and a real freshen up. The pool was aesthetically pleasing and was cleaned daily but unfortunately the canopies of the trees overhead meant it got no sun, so we didn’t use it at all. We’ve been staying in hostels throughout the trip and booked this hotel expecting something a bit more upmarket, but it simply didn’t deliver. Overall we had an enjoyable stay thanks to the brilliant staff, but they have been let down by the owners who need to invest in some refurbishments, better facilities and working WiFi. Given the price of a night’s stay, I think you can probably find better value hotels by staying somewhere with direct access to the lake

Best breakfast we had in Mexico! The staff was lovely! I liked being in that section of the lake - it was quiet and that's where our sailing trip took off from. It would have been nice to be right on the shore, but Zensus was a great value and I would stay there again if we went back to Bacalar.

Schönes Boutique Hotel am Rand von Bacalar. Zimmer/Häuser sind sehr süß und mal etwas anderes. Personal ist mega nett und das Frühstück, mit Früchten, Haferflocken und danach eine Auswahl an verschiedenen Speisen echt lecker. Wer mobil ist (da Zentrum und Bootanleger doch etwas weg sind) ist hier genau richtig. Haben unsere Bootstour sponatn vor Ort gebucht und das Hotel hat uns super unterstützt dabei.

Close to everything, Pool was excellent and very pleasant. Jose Luis, Laura and Reyna were very attentive and always with a friendly smile. Would come again.

Jose and his team were so friendly, hospitable and helpful. Room was great size, air con was fantastic and adjacent to the lake. Great place to stay!

Slightly far from the centre, cabs/ bikes would be a bonus but within about 20/30 min walk from the centre of Bacalar.

Everything! The place is wonderful, so well maintained, the staff is so nice, they really do everything to make us feel at home, the room is really well decorated, this place is like a little heaven, I recommand it!

Everything ! The bungalows are very clean and well decorated. The owner and the staff is very friendly. Bacalar is really a little paradise. We liked the location because it is 15min from town center by walking but the access to the laguna with day pass in the hotels of the area worth it. The breakfast is tasteful.

This is a little gem of a place. On the other side of the road from the beach so a lot cheaper than the beach front hotels. Easy short walk to plenty of bars and restaurants. Quiet, clean and exactly like the photos.

Nothing, with the exception hat it is not directly at the Lake but in 2. Row. In our case we appreciated it, becaude it was very windy from the lagoon.

We spent great two nights at Zensus Hotel. The place is quiet, peaceful and we met the kindest and most devoted host : José. The breakfast is great ! Highly recommended for anyone who would like to enjoy a few days in Bacalar and meet a beautiful soul. Thank you for everything José !

There was a double booking for our room. We offered to leave so the other couple could stay. The only problem was that we had already paid. We contacted the headquarters of Zensus and they offered us a refund. But we never received it! And now they don't respond to any of our messages. They clearly ripped us off. In addition the cottages don't look like the pictures aymore. Those were taken a long time ago. It needs renovation. There is rust everywhere and the shower smells really bad.

The owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful, a genuinely kind person.

Only that it’s not located on the side of the lake, but it’s also much cheaper than the ones on the lake.
