Cheapest hotel in Carlsbad

I showed up and the woman working was dealing with 3 flooding rooms. Only 2 of the 3 rooms I booked were available. I was supposed to get 2 double queen rooms and a king and all were supposed to be non smoking. I was given 2 double queens ( one smoking ) and a full or twin single room instead of a king. The rooms are run down, the shower / tub floor was all cracked. I’ve machine didn’t work. There was water dripping outside that began in the middle of the night and woke me up. The water got progressively stronger and sounded like a hose was running off the top floor onto the concrete outside my room from about 1:30 am to 6:30 am. The woman at the front desk was nice enough to say she’d give me a refund for the mix up in rooms. I have yet to be contacted or receive a refund.

I did not feel safe. At around 2am there was an argument between two guys and a lady and I believe even the police showed up.

I like that the place was clean with linen, towels, the room, the shower, and a bathtub. A flat screen TV, a dining table, and a refrigerator. There's free parking as well.

I didn't like that my bathroom sink was clogged in #209. I informed them about it the night I checked in and that morning. Nothing was done for the 2 days I stayed there. The ice 🧊 machine was out of order.

Good and safe location.

Cheap

On the day of my checkout, I opened my door to see a SWAT team right outside my room pointing their rifles towards another room nearby. It turns out another guest had a samurai sword and a gun and was having issues. Sure, it wasn't the hotel's fault, but when I later even suggested that maybe I could stay an extra night if there was room, since I couldn't make it to my intended destination that day for obvious reasons, I was met with rude comments not only denying my request but suggesting that I had overstayed for not checking out on time and that I needed to leave as soon as possible. If this is the type of empathy and consideration shown to guests, then nothing further needs to be said.

It was very convenient.

We could not bring our two small dogs because 25 a day for each dog would have been too much. Had to ask for toilet tissue. There needs to be a mirror on the wall for those of us that don’t see very well or the counter is too hard to reach over.

The room is clean and comfortable and I feel safe.

This was my first time staying in a room (#148) in the back of the motel. The room was clean but the parking lot outside of my room had a lot of trash and looked very bad. I never saw it like this before.
