La ubicación, el personal y los servicios

Location is inside the park. We had wild turkeys and coati’s roam arround the hotel.
The bed was big and comfy. It was clean
Internet inside the room was quite slow, inside the restaurant it was much faster.
Warm water for the shower only available betwee 07-09h and 18-20h

Mooi gelegen aan ingang park dar is handig. De huisjes zijn netjes. Mooie tuin. Door de ventilator uit te houden. Ontbijt is prima.
Eigenaar niet heel vriendelijk.

Property is in Tikal- contact with nature- beautiful experience- rustic, simple and clean- friendly staff
Liked the contact with nature, you can hear wild life at its best-
The food is not great- there are no other options so you have no choice. One of my family member ate the shrimp tacos became really sick- food poisoning. Staff were kind enough to give us a special drink mix that helped control the symptoms. They were attentive and apologetic. Stay away from sea food-
The beds are hard as a rock-

Our room was beautiful and huge! The bed was very large and was really comfortable. The surroundings were obviously stunning because you’re in the park! It was really quiet apart from the wonderful sounds of the animals. The fish at the restaurant was delicious
My partner had tomato spaghetti from the restaurant and it was over cooked and tasteless.

The location was awesome, right in the park. We were there right when the gates opened without having to wake up early and drive from Flores. We were able to get through the park before it got really hot. It was definitely an experience. I've never experienced that kind of dark at night. The only time I've ever been in that dark was in a cave with the lights off. You couldn't see your hand in front of your face. I guess the lack of moon and electricity and the jungle canopy overhead combined made it one of the darkest places I've been. If you want a great, almost authentic jungle experience, this is a good option. The jungle noises were cool. Felt like you were in Jurassic Park. The electricity is only on for a couple of hours, so bring a battery-powered fan and a flashlight. Though showering and getting ready by candlelight was pretty cool. It was so hot and humid, but it is what it is. The shower was good. The food at the restaurant was very good. Like I said, it was an experience.
The lack of electricity and air conditioner or even fan made it difficult to sleep. The bed was hard, but a lot of the beds I slept in on my trip to Guatemala were hard, so it must just be how it is down there. The toilet didn't flush unless you took the lid off and manually lifted the plug. The curtains didn't cover the window all the way. There were gaps.

It’s a nice little hotel in the middle of Tikal. Everything is well maintained and the staff will go the extra mile to be of service. They will also help you with transportation to the airport. If you are in need of a good guide for Tikal national park ask for Fernando Avelar

The courtyard is gorgeous and filled with wildlife. The restaurant is delicious. The staff is very helpful and can book any outings or taxis needed. The room is comfortable with lovely local touches.
The water is all trucked in so the shower is meager. The power is all provided by generator so is only available at certain times. AC is impossible with such little power. This is not a luxury hotel, but the location is unparalleled. If you know what to expect you will have a great stay.

Location was great; staff was helpful and friendly.
Didn’t know that electricity was limited; could be that I didn’t read thoroughly. This did impact our sleeping as there are no fans once the batteries are used up. Also had front desk help arranging transport to Belize (grateful for the help) but the arrangements were costly- we were charged for a ride to Belize City rather than just to San Ignacio where we asked to go. My limited Spanish is certainly partially to blame.

Very clean rooms. Beautiful property. Across the parking lot for Tikal National Park. The hotel arranged our airport pickup and dropoff as well as a private guide for the sunrise Tikal tour. The gentleman at the front desk was also the restaurant waiter. He was friendly, efficient and informative. Restaurant had a good selection of food and drinks.
This is not within the hotel's control. You're in the jungle. Temperatures can reach 40C and no AC but ceiling fans operate while there is electricity. It can get very hot but that is all part of the adventure and expectation.

The property was quite beautiful. Nice to be so embedded in nature and to have Coatis running around during the day.
The food was tasty, but very expensive for the portion sizes - Q140 for a local chicken or beef dish. The staff were nice people.
Nice hammock outside the room.
They don’t tell you that the electricity goes out from 11pm every night. This means that if you book a room with a ventilator it will turn off when the electricity goes out. It will then randomly turn on intermittently for 2-3 seconds throughout the night. The hotel also do not give you a flashlight, so you have to use your phone light if you need to get around in the dark for the early wakeup of a sunrise tour.
As there are no mosquito nets over the beds, the ventilator is the only way to keep the mosquitos away, the fact that it turns off means you will be eaten alive. If you go to Tikal in the summer, you will also be extremely hot in the room as you will want to keep the windows shut in a futile attempt to keep the mosquitos out.
The bungalow we stayed in had window nets that had holes that were entirely unable to keep the mosquitos out and windows that did not shut properly. The door also had a significant gap in it meaning any bugs were able to get in and out.
We ‘woke up’ having only managed 1 hour of sleep at a maximum, entirely consumed by mosquitos with a cockroach in the bathroom. We did bring this to the attention of the staff, the recompense was Q200, or about a 3rd of the room cost. Considering the awful experience we had sleeping at the hotel, we felt this didn’t make up for being kept awake all night and leaving with more mosquito bites than any person would wish to count.

it’s location is so close to the entrance to Tikal archaeological site.
the rationing of electricity and hot water and WiFi.

Great location and lovely room. Lots of wildlife and the opportunity to be in the park at 6am when it is quiet and cool and the animals are about.
Transport arranged by the hotel was very expensive. There are cheaper options if you negotiate direct with providers but it can be difficult to arrange things.

Really went in with low expectations after reading other reviews, but really the Jaguar Inn is pretty nice. Well kept, pleasant surroundings and TIkal just up the path. Could be a little tidier outside but the dining room and menu were fine, very good dining service. I'd happily go back.
It's not a 4 star hotel but it's also not a dump, not even close. Very pleased to stay there and very comfortable for our 4 days.

I will struggle here as in all honesty I ended my stay here early.
I found the bed was large and comfortable.
It is in the biosphere and close to Tikal entrance.
The driver the hotel used was great.
Although being close to the entrance it is kind of too close as it isn’t set back from the public car park, so you won’t get that isolation feeling.
Sewage backed up into shower and toilet with gargling noises all night, there was no staff on site to report it to by the time it happened at 10pm.
Although it was fixed they didn’t clean the bathroom afterward we did.
The room smelt anyway but bathroom smelt worse afterwards
We got a message via booking in advance about buying Tikal tickets at Guatemala airport so we booked an airport hotel so we could purchase them, after looking around airport I messaged them to be told it was an automated message and wasn’t an option anymore (I did find out you can book online now through the driver).
Staff weren’t very good, only interested in selling guides and drivers not willing to provide park info.
Food was average but service was awful. Went to desk to order food and took my own plates back twice. The one time I didn’t they were still on the table in the morning.
They did give me the money back for the final nights stay but it wasn’t the full amount, I didn’t argue as I wanted to enjoy my trip.

location to park entrance
power turns off at 9pm and they do not tell you on booking. this includes all lights and the fan in the room. This doesn’t turn back on until after the park is open by 6am which is ridiculous so you have to get ready in the dark. Sheets felt very damp and there was a cockroach.

right next to the park entrance gate. beautiful property with gardens. you can hear howler monkeys at night. friendly staff who speak excellent English. very detailed and useful instructions at check-in time. for Tikal, I highly recommend a sunrise tour. I did see the sunrise, a bit of luck, but even if you don’t get to, it’s still well worth it because it’s the quietest hour in the park. i saw a ton of animals in those hours, including of a family of 30 coatis, and 2 foxes close up.

beautiful grounds, clean comfortable rooms, walking distance to Tikal park entrance
must arrive before 5pm to gain entrance at the main park gate
all electricity is shut off at night, staff was hesitant to accept cred card payment when previously asked if that would be possible, wnded up not to be an issue but was inconvenient

The room was clean, in Tikal Park, one helpful girl on reception
Damp smelly bedding, terrible acoustics (I could hear everything my neighbours did) average food, no internet, pointless loud music, poor communication, plugs by bed didn't work, no toiletries, 1 towel, nasty plastic hammock.
After having lunch at Jungle Lodge, I realise what I could've experienced...I suggest you pay a bit more and go there.
