The Iris is so close to the wonderful escalators to the underground ancient Etruscan city, and main Perugia Piazza. The hotel has been thoroughly modernized with lovely rooms that still have have beautiful painted ceilings and original large windows with shutters. Favorite hotel in Umbria!

Lovely old world hotel. Bed very comfortable, also shower. There is no air conditioning for summer. We need a fan. Lovely garden view and it was nice to be woken up by the birds singing. Breakfast is very basic so we didn't have it. Very accessible to the old town just a few mins walk. Also alot of nice restaurants and cafes nearby

Not easy to get into due to stairs and lack of streetside parking. Large rooms. Extra friendly staff. reduced amenities due to the pandemic, one assumes.

An old building with high ceilings that are hand decorated. Convenient location but ensure that the taxi takes you to the rear entry carpark. Not disability friendly but full of character and atmosphere. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was adequate.

Really old building (+100 years old villa) so don't expect the most modern of services. But certainly a nice charm, and has all the facilities you need in a town like Perugia.

Although the hotel is a little tired decorativly, the staff are very helpful and the hotel is well situated for all the cities attractions and close to the main escalators.

Nice stay for the jazz festival. Good location in city center with private parking. But the hotel do need some updating.

Very nice staff, the room is clean and comfy, near the bus stop, walking distance to the bus station, a few steps to many restaurants. Entrance is next to Iris Restaurant. Good buffet breakfast for only 5 euro.

Great staff,location and room size. Very noisy if you get the room near the reception. I heard every conversation, entrance and exit at all hours.

This has to be one of the most desirably located hotels in Perugia with an exit at the back that takes you to Piazza Italia and main sights through the Rocca Paolina fortress and one at the front that leads to San Domenico and San Paola, two unmissable cathedrals. Right across the street is a wonderful supermarket open till 8pm. One complaint was that Perugia was fairly cold in October and the hotel didn't have the heat turned on, but we were provided with an effective heater. Staff were incredibly helpful. Terrific value for money. And the hotel itself looks like an old Palazzo with a wonderful area outside to sit an enjoy your morning coffee or a cocktail. Also has a great view and is a two minute walk to the bus station where you can get one of many buses to the train station only 7 minutes away. All very convenient.

We arrived at the hotel Iris hot and tired, and not happy with the room given to us. Our concern was acted on promptly, and we had a lovely room, nicely decorated, and a balcony. The staff were very helpful, the room cleaned every day, and situated close to the bus terminal and the escalator to take you to the heart of the old city.

My husband and I were very pleased with our choice to stay at Hotel Iris during our visit to Perugia. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get up to the historic center from the hotel, either walking up a charming stairway alley or through the underground escalator system. We walked to the hotel from the main train station and I wouldnt recommend it... very confusing, even with printed directions and a GPS. Instead Id recommend taking the mini-metro which is a super convenient route from the main train station and gets you within a couple blocks of the hotel. I wish wed known about it when we arrived.
