Staying on the Uros islands is highly recommended. The rate includes amazing breakfast and Dinners cooked for you. As well as boat transportation from Puno to the hotel. The staff arranged a tour for us to Taquile island and the rest of the parts of Uros islands. The cultural experience is amazing. The staff were so nice and attended to our every need. You won't get a chance ti stay on a floating island made of reeds anywhere else so we highly advise you to try it!

The island is beautiful and so is the rental lodge. Huge windows with seating out on a deck where you can enjoy a full view of the lake and mountains. It’s very quiet there and although you can only get there by boat, they are very timely with picking you up and dropping you off. Communication beforehand was very good and they were responsive. We stayed here in the spring and at night it hit 31 degrees F and we had no heat. They did make our bed up with several layers of incredibly warm bedding and gave us hot water bottles, but it was still incredibly uncomfortable to be freezing in our room and in the dining room. Not to be too graphic, but it was so cold that I didn’t want to go to the bathroom because I didn’t want to expose any skin to the air. There is hot water - I took a 5 minute shower under a trickle of water and my husband took a shower about 3 hours later and all water pooped out 2 mins into his shower. There is an outlet in the room powered by solar power - enough to slowly charge electronics and enough to run a portable CPAP machine. They provided meals, which is fortunate since you have no way to access food otherwise. Because of that, we had thought meals were included in the rate, but we were charged 60 soles for a basic dinner of soup, steamed veggies, baked chicken breasts, and tea. Breakfast was included. Be prepared for the matriarch to come into the dining room to sell knitted souvenirs. Owners spoke almost no English.

Lovely hosts! One of a kind experience. Don’t expect any amenities! ;)

Nice family on floating island. Very comfortable beds. Simple but acceptable dinner and breakfast. Enjoyable grass boat ride in evening with nice man. Very cold room. Little to no running water in bathroom. One towel for 5 people. Very expensive boat ride in fine filled boat. None of the staff spoke English. Whan we passed other Uros islands, there appeared to be cultural presentations being given. Nothing like this was offered at this island.

Staying on the floating island is a unique experience. Rising sun is beautiful. The hotel and room beautiful and conform to pictures. All people staying have to be ready for cold temperature at night.
Hotel staff are family and were vry kind. Only thing is that we could not communicate due to our lack of spanish knowledge.
More fun if you are a family or small group because no activities or things to do at night.

It was a very quiet small island with only our family for that night. The couple and their son tried their best to provide what they can to us although we do not speak Spanish, and they hardly speak English. We enjoyed the home cooking and appreciate their genuine interests in us. The hostess brought out their nice outfit for us to try and to take pictures. It was pretty cold in the evening inside the room although the hot water bottles kept us warm in bed.

So this is 100% accurate review based on our trip in May:
Pros:
- nice family and area. It's an unforgettable experience!
- The meals from this family are really delicious!
Cons:
- No hot water for washing and bath.
- Not enough water for taking the bath. Be prepared.
- The toilet does not have running water. You need to cover with sand.
- Basically, the restroom linked to your room is only for toilet. You need to go out for washing face.
- No charge for phones and cameras within room. You can charge by USB in the resturant but it's very slow.
- The family there can barely speak English. If you don't know Spanish the communication is hard.
Tips:
- Night time the temperature is very low. Bring cloths!
- Charge all your electronics before you come!

We understand that we were on an island. Our first experience was with the only male staff member that made us feel welcome as a guest and not as income. Unfortunately the boat motor got tangled in reeds in pitch darkness in an aluminum small boat on the way for 10- 15 minutes which wan't helpful for my partner who has a fear of being on water. If the day has been cloudy there is likely not to be any hot water, limited ability to charge anything and the "hot basic meal" is $10US cash only ( notes can not have have any tears on them at all). On leaving we got asked to give a tip, which should be voluntary but when you're on an island wanting to get off??? and then on land expecting the taxi driver is paid before the ride ( Which took us to the wrong hotel) so that they could get their cut of the taxi fair. It was both an enjoyable experience from staff that understood the customer and a really disappointing one for those who where completely in it for just the money and getting how ever much they could from you.

This accommodation is missold. Dealing with facilities first, there is no power to the rooms I.e. you cannot charge anything! This needs to Ben made clear as we were practically stranded for three days with no ability to contact anyone. Our room, and the rooma of everyone else we spoke to who stayed didn’t not have a ‘terrace’. The restaurant is actually a room for eating, there is no choice in timings or what you eat.. so a little misleading to call it a restaurant. We stayed two days and got exactly the same basic meal each time. Also they did not offer any drinks with meals. There is no 24 hour front desk. The walking distances are completely incorrect, you cannot walk anywhere as you are in the middle of the lake - fine for us, but for others this came as quite a surprise. Not the most surprising that they don’t show you the toilet in any of the picture... basic and with compost. All their pictures show one of the nice big yellow rafts for transportation, this does not exist on the actual island. They also offered us no tours
We left after only two nights of our three night booking and honestly that was quite a stretch. We were expecting basic facilities, but feel that the lodge had missold itself online, and would recommend to anyone only one night. Also make sure everything electronic you might need is charged up, and you have warm clothing with you. Also make sure you have your confirmation details as they had no idea how much to charge us when we were leaving!!
