Very nice hotel, great location. Room was excellent and staff were very helpful and friendly. Out of my 30 plus hotel stays this year, this has to be one of the best hotels I've stayed in for a long time

Booked a 1 night stay as a treat for my husband's special birthday. We weren't disappointed. Warm welcome from reception. We arrived earlier than the check-in time and were given our keys straight away as our room was ready. Free upgrade to a suite with sea view. Free bubbly placed in our room with chocolates. Fabulous breakfast. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Some reviews criticised the communal areas stating they needed refurbishment, but it wasn't that bad. I am surprised it holds a 5 star status though. More a 4 star. The new refurb rooms look nice and fresh, but I didnt like the colour scheme - quite bland for the period of the property. Some nice rich coloured soft furnishing would make the rooms look more oppulent. But that's personal state I guess.

A perfect stay - the room had recently been refurbished and was amazing. The staff were polite and efficient and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We will definitely go back there next time we stay in Brighton.

Absolutely the best hotel I have stayed in England! Check in fab, hotels.com gave us a b upgrade to a sea view which was amazing because it was my husbands 50th then the hotel gave us a drink at the bar on them for is birthday, the breakfast outstanding! Show cooking omelettes fresh salmon smoothies etc amazing, staff lovely place so clean and decor beautiful we loved every minute it just went too fast everyone described it as a smaller version of the ritz

Love this hotel and the quality of the drinks and food was great. The rooms suffer from noise from the hallway and outside noise if are in a sea view room, but we had a lovely time and the concierge team were so helpful and polite.

It’s a great hotel. The breakfast is amazing,but the room was really noisy because of a extractor outside the room, which stopped us from sleeping, and the shower turned itself on at 1.30 in the morning..

The service from the staff is fantastic - 5 star. Plenty of FOH staff and concierge. Bar staff were amazing, especially the manager/supervisor working late on 2/11.
However the room was definitely not 5 star. Very shabby, with many scratches to furniture, and a dank smell throughout. The room was very hot and the A/C only seemed to cool down the hallway and not the main room. My wife did go to reception to complain about the condition and was told that the hotel was 4 star (this surprised us) and due refurbishment. When we got home we saw from the website that it is absolutely a 5 star hotel. So very disappointing.

Breakfast is in a dark room with very bad lights.

Moved rooms as first room ceiling in bad state should not be occupied 2nd room better but bathroom either has scalding water or freezing cold water in shower and wash hand basin maintenance and house keeping need better, not enjoyable at all, maintenance should spot that cartridges or washers could solve this and to freshen up painting in areas, not clean and met some disgruntled staff some bordering on rude and some helpful pleasant ones too, breakfast good choices but afternoon tea not nice - some stale quiches and very little filling in dry sandwiches overall wouldn’t stay again, shame as beautiful building and features

This is our second stay at The Grand. It is a beautiful hotel - a little shabby in places. Surprised to find that in a huge hotel like this that both lifts were out of order and only one small service lift for all huests plus service requirements.
Breakfast is a fantastic offering although sorry to see that since our last visit you now need to use drink machines yourself. It is ok paying £20 for a fabulous buffet but it is nice to be served tea and coffee. Difficult to carry both breakfast and do drinks at the same time so involves an extra trip up to buffet.
Will definitely be back.

Valet met me at the front entrance and took my luggage to reception then drove my car to the secure parking. I’m diabetic so need a mini fridge and for the first time I didn’t have to ask. I couldn’t fault anything in my room, it was perfect. The staff were very helpful at all times and in all areas.
