Location was great, outside aesthetic was very nice

No staff, so many stains on carpet, filthy windows, no curtain on street facing windows, bar and restaurant closed on a Saturday, Coles brand water provided, no reception staff, dirty areas, VERY basic facilities, NOT boutique at all.

Location was convenient

Considering the price, no staff on premise, requires someone who is more interested in running it as a professional hotel as the building itself has potential. Broken latches, broken runners, stained carpet, mismatched random furniture. We stayed in King suite with balcony but to get out to the balcony we had to maneuver the old window(one if the cable broken)…. Couldn’t find the room first and no instructions, had to go through the back gate to enter and as there was nobody to ask it took a while to find the room. Honestly a bit shocked to see the high reviews some have left- some of the rooms we saw on the way had no window whatsoever and they had the doors open all the time.

Love this grand building. Tall ceilings, open fire places, tastefully renovated. Gorgeous bar.

The gorgeous bar was not open due to a shortage of staff.

Comfortable bed and great shower.

Not being told it was an over the phone check-in made us feel we had been scammed. We turned up and headed to the door marked reception to find that every door was locked with no answer from knocking. We then rang the number (from a UK phone which would have cost a fortune) to find I then had to call another number to be given my check-in code to open our room. It put a damper on our stay to say the least.
