It was grubby, unruly. Felt good unsafe the last nature stay. Fixtures in bathroom damaged repugnant

The only good thing about this place was that all the staff we encountered were friendly and they tried to help us.

When we arrived and checked in at 4 PM we requested a non-smoking room, the man at the desk was very nice and he said that the rooms were all smoked in because people disregarded the hotel's rules. He said we could check the room to see if it was acceptable for us. We went to the room and housekeeping was there cleaning up. So we went to eat, and shop for a bit. We returned at 6:30 PM and went to the room. The smoke smell was so bad that we could hardly breathe in there and there was a smoke haze in the air of the hotel room, the bedding had burns in it and the room was very run-down, and dark (it felt like a cell not a room). We then went to the desk to see about another room, or a refund and no one was there (6:30 PM). The housekeeper found a lady who gave us OYOs number to call for a refund because we could not even stay in the room for 2 minutes, let alone an entire night. We tried calling OYO from the parking lot across the street that evening, and could not get a connection where we could hear the person on the other end of the line. At this point in the evening now 7 PM, we decided to drive to our final destination over 300 miles away. We have not been refunded anything yet, and according to my credit card transactions on my banking website we have 2 pending charges from the OYO in Petersburg VA. This place was in a very sketchy neighborhood (complete with prostitutes, drug dealers, and users, and drunks) there were large trash bags, and garbage all over the outdoors, dirty clothes scattered all on the stairs and balconies. It was by far the worst place I have ever not stayed, and I am still and been charged for 2 nights when we stayed in the room for less than 2 minutes. I can not even say anything about how clean the actual room was , as we did not stay in there long enough to find out besides a peek at the sheets and covers. I was happy to get as far from that room as possible. I would not recommend this place to anyone .
