John was charming and very helpful. Walking distance to town Centre and the castle but on a very steep hill.

There was no breakfast just kettle with tea and coffee in the room. Very small shower in the corner of the room next to wash basin. Toilet enclosed in another corner. One night was enough and we would not book this again.

Usually, in a hotel review, you'd talk about things such as room size, cleanliness, etc. And don't get me wrong - all of these things were good too. But what really differentiates this hotel from others was John, the Concierge. He was incredibly helpful and very fun to talk to. Would gladly stay there again!

A very nice and cosy guesthouse with a very good, gentle and nice host. He had all kinds of interessting stories to tell about Dover and its history. The room itself was decotated as a classic English room with almost vintage furniture. Nevertheless everything was very clean and the room had a fresh smell. The place was directly near the city centre but also very quiet.

Shower and bed are very small for a guy who is 2 meter tall. For an accomodation like this, without breakfast, the price is pretty high. We have had better prices including breakfast. But we knew this beforehand so it is not realy a minus.

John is so friendly, and he give us some story of the places and he showed us beautiful pictures in the area. What a magical place.

From the moment we arrived at St Martin’s John made us feel very welcome. He carried our very heavy bag up the stairs for us and gave us a potted history of Dover together with several suggestions for dinner. Not only that but he also booked an early morning taxi for us to ensure we were on time for our ferry. We were just sorry it was such a short stay. Thank you John for being such a wonderful host.

It was a cute little place with a charming retro ambiance. John the manager was extremely friendly and helpful. Convenient and quiet location very near the center of town.

John is a wonderfull host. Is there to help and advice with whatever we needed. We only stayed for one night but dover will be memrable because of this stay

the concierge is very nice, we had some good talks. the room is very traditional British style. it’s old but is different, not bad I like it.

The on suit was a shower cubical in the room and the toilet was in a cupboard not worth paying £97.00 per night for may be £40.00 per as a last minute resort, this took me back to the early 80`s.

We had a great time at St Martins guest house! The room was extremely clean and comfortable with all the toiletries and tea and coffee. The location is excellent at about 25 min walk to the Dover cliffs and about 10/15 minutes from Dover Priory Station. The concierge is very kind and funny. He has amazing knowledge of the history of Dover and will be gladly tell you all the stories about it. We really enjoyed our stay at St Martins!

For the price paid, included breakfast would have been nice.

Very friendly caretaker! Helpful much beyond the line of duty. Appartement was very comfortable, nothing to complain about. As far as Dover is concerned - not you primary tourist destination, a bit run-down (courtesy also from the German artillery in the 40s), but excellent bus connections to e.g. Canterbury and nice start for a hike along the White Cliffs. Also: very conveniently located at the end of the ferry from Calais or Dunkirk. Bottom-line: we enjoyed the stay and would not - with hindsight knowledge - have changed anything to our trip.

Everything a bit old-fashioned, with shower in the room (but everything worked perfectly!). If you expect a typical cofortable English environment (you have to walk 400 m/yards for breakfast), you will be satisfied. If you expect a 21st century modern boutique hotel, you will be disappointed.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our stay at St. Martins Guest House. The concierge, John, was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. The room was large with English decor and a sitting area. The location was ideal for us...very close to a pub, a grocery store, some other stores, and chain restaurants. We like to walk, so for us it was walking distance to the beach promenade, Dover Castle, downtown Dover, and the promenade at the beach area. We walked from the train station, but it is about a 10-15 minute walk. We also walked to the White Cliffs from our hotel...twice! The only quirky thing about the room is that the toilet is in a separate room from the sink and shower. We did not mind, but good to know. We were also able to leave our luggage here before and after checkout, so we could fully enjoy our time in Dover.

I cannot think of anything that we did not like.
