Well designed hotel, with rooms that felt bright and modern. We really liked the pool area, which had a good selection of beanbags and sun loungers to choose from. Also, the way the pool area had been laid out, it gets a good amount of afternoon sun, whilst also being protected from the worst of the wind when it picks up on the island. Another highlight was breakfast, which had a good number of options, varying each day. The staff were really helpful, and even managed to track down an ATV for us when we thought they were completely booked up across the island.

Coffee at breakfast (and in the room) is Nescafe, which I'm personally not a fan of. It would be great to have the option of filter coffee included with breakfast. You can get fresh coffee at breakfast, but there's an extra charge. The room was a little small, and didn't have much storage. Given we were in Kalymnos on a climbing trip, and had a lot of gear with us, it was hard work to keep it tidy as there was hardly enough room to store clothes, let alone climbing gear.

Carian was the ideal place to stay in Kalymnos. Firstly It’s location is perfect, just about a hundred or metres away from the rows of restaurants and shops, it’s view of the most beautiful bay and coves and from its balconies one can see the Telendos island clearly. Coming to the hotel itself, the pool and the views from the pool area are to die for, gorgeous blue-green waters while having breakfast and the view of the pool really hit the perfect holiday vibe. The breakfast has really good variety - with a mix of Greek, classic eggs and toast with cereals type breakfast available. The fruits were the highlight of the breakfast. The staff is absolutely amazing, very friendly and helpful. It’s a family run business and the staff definitely give you that feel, you’ll feel looked after and listened to which is so nice. Maria and Yianni at breakfast and by the pool, Antonis at reception and Caliope who runs and owns the business are such warm and caring hosts. We spent time having drinks with them, learning more about the island and the culture. We are definitely going to head back to Carian.
