We had a fabulous week at The Shippen despite the very wet weather. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very well equipped if you are self catering. Due to the clever layout of the cottage there was plenty of space for 3 adults and 2 dogs. The walk down to Readymoney Cove for the dogs was great followed by a lovely stroll into the centre of Fowey. Lots of lovely places to eat and drink. Visited lots of places around Fowey, Cardinham Woods was a favourite with an amazing, dog friendly cafe. We would definitely return. Wood Family

We stayed for a week over Xmas with our dog. The cottage is in a good location, at the top of the village and just a short walk downhill through the woods to Readymoney Cove beach, which is great for dogs and a similar distance to Foweys restaurants and shops. The cottage facilities were good and had everything we needed to cook Xmas dinner! A very social space with open plan kitchen and lounge. The cottage had also been decorated for Xmas which was lovely and the owners had left us some wine and chocolates! Outside was a secure garden for our dog, both gravel and grass. We had a lovely weeks stay and would recommend this cottage for couples with dogs.

The Shippen is a tucked away little gem. You have everything you need and the setting is quiet with views across fields from most windows. We have been twice ad enjoyed our stay. The standard of cleanliness is exceptional, and any blip is immediately sorted.

compact, comfortable, well equipped cottage, perfect for a family and 1 couple but difficult for 2 couples as the bedrooms are connected and the second one does not have a separate access. Great for small dogs as all property completely enclosed but garden too small for bigger dogs. Photo misleading as next to cottage on the left adjoining properties.

Fabulous little cottage in an ideal location. We would definitely return. Very secure outdoor area for the dogs, lovely little sun trap too.

The Shippen is in a fantastic location, within easy walking distance to Fowey and the beach at Ready Money Cove. It's a super sweet little cottage, with a lovely outside dining space and a small playground. The kitchen and living space were cosy, clean, and well appointed. However none of this mattered when confronted with the disgusting carpets and rugs in the bedrooms and the thin worn towels and bedding. The carpet was greasy, worn flat, and absolutely filthy (I'm talking black stains) and needs replacing. The rugs by the bed were the same, flat, stained and horrible. The bedding was so thin and worn, it felt ancient. I can't believe no-one as mentioned it! It was such a shame and a real disappointment when the rest of cottage was so well kept and clean, but it really put me off and made the bedroom feel really unpleasant to sleep in.

Cozy little cottage with nice field view. Big enough for a family of four. Fowey is beautiful, lovely pubs just 1.5m away at Polkerries beach. We enjoyed our week.

All amenities for a relaxing holiday just a short walk away albeit up hill and down dale. Will return.

The cottage was really cosy and had everything you needed, with a great parking place and within walking distance of Fowey. There was an occasional dog hair, but otherwise could not fault the cleanliness. The Christmas decorations were a lovely surprise and added to the cosiness. It’s the first cottage I’ve been to though, that had no form of welcome pack.

The Shippen is a lovely cottage and has a nice walk down to Moneyready Beach and cafe. Our only complaint is more loo rolls and the pillows were a bit hard for my wife. We would use it again but next time bring our own pillows.

First trip back since covid and lovely to be back in this cottage and at Fowey. We had a week of lovely walking, lovely weather and always meet lots of nice people here. Thank you for letting us stay. Dog always goes into a mega sulk when we return home!!! Best Wishes Sue, Kenny and Pippa

A super holiday rental which has the added bonus of allowing your doggy companion to accompany you. The Shippen is excellently located - the centre of Fowey can be reached following a quick 10 minute roadside downhill walk, or an alternative 15-20 minute walk along the tree-lined scenic coastal/Esplanade walk. The cottage has everything you need to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible and is tastefully decorated. The outside area features sturdy garden furniture, so that you may sit and enjoy the surrounding countryside views. We would definitely recommend this property to our family and friends.

Excellent break in Fowey staying at The Shippen. Very accommodating host. The cottage is immaculate, clean , well presented with home from home comforts. An ideal place to explore Cornwall and the Cornish countryside.

We had a very comfortable week at The Shippen and would book again. There were some blips but they were sorted immediately and with apologies. The owner and the housekeeping lady could not have treated us better. Covid did not make it easy with late taking over of The Shippen and early leaving, but that had to be. We spent a good bit of time in The Shippen and were very comfortable. We tried to leave it in good order as it had been left very clean and tidy for us. We used the main bedroom only though there was another room with two single beds in which was accessed through the main bedroom and up some steps. That could be a problem for some people. We would have liked a lidded roasting tin, more glass lidded bowls to use in the microwave, and some table mats to be available.

A very comfortable and quiet cottage. Clean, well maintained and equipped with everything you might need. Only a 10 minute walk into town or down to Readymoney Cove. Beautiful walks to be had along the coast path and the Saints Way. An ideal bolt hole for a relaxing break, would definitely go back.

We have stayed at Lawhyre Cottages over the last 20 years- the Cottages are comfortable and warm and we enjoy our walks through the woods or fields to the Cove and Beach and then our stroll into the Town. The Shippen was very clean, lovely condition and super setting/ we will be back.

What a fantastic place to stay. Lovely outside area to enjoy eating outside. Enclosed so safe for kids and dogs. Also handy to watch your children in the play area. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and comfortable. Equipped with all you need. We did have an issue with the television, but we were not on holiday to watch tellie. Walked to Fowey, and only 15 minutes away. So in a great location. Fowey is a lovely town with great scenery, restaurants and things to do. Don't miss out on a ice cream at the Game of Cones! Great beaches around the area, especially for dogs 5 min away. We had a lovely holiday. Thank you.

When we walked in it was very inviting we were so pleased it felt so homely . It was very comfortable in the lounge and also the bed was very comfortable . Good location and very quiet . Would definitely go back . Only one little criticism found the back step a little bit awkward needs a step put there but other than that would highly recommend it .

Who knew ‘shippen’ means cattle shed?! It was a lovely place to stay, just away enough from from the bustle of town . Easy stroll to readymoney beach and onto the coastal path, Fowey busy but great.

Beautiful property providing comfortable accommodation. Perfect for walking our dog down to the beach each morning. Cutlery and crockery were adequate for preparing meals if not eating out. Tranquility was unfortunately spoilt by the sound of circular saw and nail gun from the nearby workshop on this occasion.

The Shippen was perfect for us. Well located with a path down to Readymoney Cove. Downhill to town and the Town Bus pulled in by the gate to bring us back. Lovely table outside for meals. Close to the playground for the children. Well equipped inside, including dishwasher. We would love to go back.

The Shippen is like a home from home, only better, as its only a short walk to the centre of Fowey and also, to Readymoney Cove and onwards on the wonderful coast path. The situation is private and peaceful, set back from the Pontevillion Road.

The cottage was just perfect for our holiday, it was well equipped and had everything we needed. It was very cosy and we felt at home straight away. Good outdoor space overlooking the fields, perfect for a morning coffee and an evening glass of wine. Also good enclosed space for the dogs

Easy to find, great location, designated parking spot a real bonus. The Shippen had everything we needed, kitchen well resourced.

We had an amazing week at the Shippen. The cottage is beautiful,comfortable and sparkling clean. I was perfect for a week with my two children and our dog! It is well located and part of a lovely estate. We were welcome even under COVID restrictions. The Shippen is a little gem!
