The rental is located behind the main residence. The house numbers were not present on the street and also I had not received directions how to get through the gate. Luckily, my tech savvy brother was present and able to access a Wi-Fi hotspot so I could email our dilemma to the owner who was home. she came out straight away and helped us get inside. This was our only problem. Everything else went smoothly and the rental was lovely.

The Carriage House is an absolute dream. It is a quintessential beach cottage offering a peaceful stay yet a quick walk to all the excitement and foodie heaven that Santa Cruz offers. The owners are very kind and helpful people, their recommendations and venue descriptions were spot on. The location comes with a bevy of unexpected amenities as well. The house is airy, bright and extremely comfortable. We cannot wait to go back!!

We loved the property and it was the perfect place to stay. Our daughter graduated from UCSC and we were able to drop our stuff a bit early and head to the ceremony. Our hosts have a lovely place close the Boardwalk and the beach. Thank you!

This was our second time here and again it did not disappoint. Sarah was just as responsive and accommodating. The cottage was lovely and comfortable for our family of 4. We were couple of blocks from everything so we walked everywhere and never had to worry about parking. And our favorite part was ending our trip with a fire in the backyard and making s’mores the night before we left. This may become an annual ritual. We will be back. Thank you, Sarah!

This was the perfect place to bring our 16 year old granddaughter for a few days. The location was perfect. The apartment was nicely decorated, very comfortable, and well stocked with everything one may need. The host, Sarah, had loads of information on local restaurants, activities, shopping, etc. Highly recommend as a home away from home.

My family and I traveled to Santa Cruz for the Ironman event and stayed two nights. The apartment is clean, bright, and in a perfect location, close to the boardwalk, beach, and Depot Park. Our hosts were incredibly gracious. I would absolutely stay again!

This is a wonderful, warm, inviting, two bedroom apartment in Santa Cruz. The central location enabled us to walk to several things. Hostess, Sarah, was very helpful. My grandson borrowed their surf board and happily was able to surf. This is a great place to stay. If I’m back, it’ll be here.

I highly recommend staying here. We are a family of 4 (husband, wife, two kids ages 5 & 8), and the space was plenty for us. The private backyard oasis was beautiful! Everything is within walking distance or just a few min drive into town. We had the pleasure of meeting our host and she was very kind. You cannot beat the privacy, quiet, and detail that you get here with any hotel. The small touches provided from a s’mores kit to beach toys, are appreciated as well. Thank you for letting us stay!

Very convient location, cute, quaint cottage house. We were fortunate enough to be there when the roses were in bloom. Their fragrance welcomed us back each day from our outing. My favorite part of Santa Cruz was and still is walking along West Cliff Dr. to Natural Bridges, so beautiful.

Sarah, the hostess was extremely helpful. The house was certainly well equipped, extremely clean and comfortable. There was beach equipment and a beach cart to enable a full day's pleasure and comfort on the beach.
The outdoor space was comfortable,private and during the day a little sun trap.
I would highly recomend this accomidation to anyone looking for a stay in Santa Cruz. 10 minute walk to the beach, pier and promenade.

Lovely host. Everything was perfect. Very comfortable beds and pillows, thick cozy towels.
All details attended to—snacks, teas, coffee, and even fixings for s’mores in a little basket. There were Q-tips, shampoos & a first aide kit. Easy 5-10 minute walk to the beach, warf and boardwalk. 5 min drive to downtown. Easy parking in front (April). Down pillows on the couch. The owners take pride in their property. There was a washer dryer available. Will will stay there again. Thank you.

We had a quick--but great--stay. Communication was excellent, check-in was easy, walking to the boardwalk was easy (even in the not-so-great weather), and the space was perfect four our family of four. The toys/games were an added bonus!

The location of this property was perfect for the meeting of UCSC Alumni friends. The wharf, beach, Boardwalk, downtown and especially Kaiser Arena (where we took in 2 Bball games) are a short walk away. Sarah is most responsive, welcoming and there to help with any questions and concerns. She provides everything you could wish for. We will definitely come back.

We couldn’t fault this place and would definitely stay again when in Santa Cruz. The location is great for both a short walk to the beach and downtown shopping/great places to eat. They have thought of everything to make your stay as homely as possible - we found the accommodation to be perfect for our small family.

Sarah’s place was perfection. Amazing location only a couple of blocks away from the Santa Cruz boardwalk and wharf. The guest house is located above the garage at the rear of the property. It had two nicely sized bedrooms, a full bath and kitchen. The place was pristine, cozy, and the beds were very comfortable and everything was functional and worked as intended. Sarah had left coffee, wine, chocolates and other goodies for us during our stay, which was unexpected, but very much appreciated. There’s access to an outdoor yard and fire pit which is really nice. Street parking was really easy, particularly with the permits that were provided. Sarah was very communicative and reached out to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Highly recommend this quaint little guest house in Santa Cruz. Thanks again, Sarah

The home was lovely and perfect for our family. Had so much fun making s’mores in the fire pit. And love the short walk to the boardwalk through the neighborhood too. Will definitely come back again!

We stayed for two nights (07/25/22-07/27/22) at this location and it was perfect for myself, my husband and two teen girls. We went to the Boardwalk and beach both days we were in town and it was so nice to be able to walk the two blocks and not have to worry about driving. Easy directions to check in and out were provided along with lots of restaurant and activity suggestions. We were also pleasantly surprised with cupcakes and candles to celebrate my husband and daughters birthdays. Such a nice touch. We would stay here again 100% and will be recommending this space to our family and friends.

Everything Thought Of
What a great find! Sarah's attention to detail and level of cleanliness went above and beyond. My twins (age 11) loved the desk and side table filled with books and games, and the stuffed animals on their beds made them feel at home. The adults appreciated the charming details the carriage house provided, from the antique doorknobs to cute little cubbies in the bathroom (along with a first aid kit, extra toothbrush, and sunscreen to mention a few) and beautiful landscaping in the yard. There was plenty of room for four people, and the location was perfect being only a short walk to the boardwalk and local restaurants, shops, etc. On our way out to the beach one day, we were able to meet Sarah in person and she was very friendly and helpful, making us feel welcomed. Thanks again for the lovely setup and look forward to staying again!

Cute cottage
We had a lovely stay in Sarah's cottage. The cottage is very well maintained, clean and very quiet. The towels were so soft! We arrived late and had no problems checking in. Sarah provided very good instructions and her communication was great. She even left some snacks and s'more kits for us. The house is in a very nice neighborhood not too far from the center of Santa Cruz. Parking is a little tricky as it is street parking but we always found a spot not too far away. We were there when a permit is not required. During the peak season, I believe you need a permit to park on the street and Sarah provides one.

Just what we needed!
My daughter and I were happy to conclude a quite strenuous trip to California with a couple of nights in this peaceful, well-appointed, well-supplied and convenient little apartment. It was perfect for us and I highly recommend it to others.

Perfect stay, perfect location
Our stay for two nights was idyllic - the perfect place for our family. Photos don’t show how lovely the setting is. The garden is beautiful with a nice space for the rental separate from house garden- plus a very nice fire pit. I loved both the interior and exterior amenities. My kids loved to have their own room yet be connected through a central bathroom. Everything was very clean and well appointed. We felt immediately at home. I lived in Santa Cruz many years ago and I realize that the boardwalk can be a bit busy and loud, but for my family it was great to be so close without hearing it at night. In the morning we walked downtown on an easy 10 minute walk by the River. Hosts were very nice and helpful. When we return we’ll stay here again!
