We decided to take a trip to Methoni to celebrate my husbands birthday. We checked in the hotel, watched the Euro soccer match at the bar and then went out for dinner. We returned to the hotel late (as one does while eating out in Greece). We got ready for bed and when we decided to turn in for the night, we folded back the sheets and voila, little fleas were jumping around. I killed about 10. We then looked around the room and decided that we couldn’t possibly sleep in a bed that had fleas. So we did what we could do at 1 am: tried the reception (noone answered and door was locked) and sent 2 emails - 1 to the email found on google and one through booking.com. Since noone replied, we left. We did not spend the night there. Since i hadnt heard anything by the next morning, i called the hotel to see if they had gotten my emails and if they had any questions. The immature young lady who answered the phone was in a fiery rage that we had left without paying (she didnt believe that we found fleas at 1am) called us thieves (would thieves really send 2 emails and call back the next day) and made us pay for that room. So, We do not recommend that guests visit Achilles Hill Hotel. If a guest sees an issue, the hotel will pretend that it is not an issue and will make the guest pay. Also, guests should make sure to check their sheets since the fleas were in the sheets and likely brought into the room in the sheets.

Das ruhige Hotel liegt ca. 10 Gehminuten vom Hafen (mit mehreren Restaurants) entfernt. Wir hatten ein Zimmer in der oberen Etage mit einem traumhaften Blick vom Balkon auf Methoni und die Festung. Auf dem großen Balkon standen Sessel und ein kleiner Tisch. Außer der Balkontüre gab es noch eine Insektenschutztüre. Die Ausstattung des Zimmers war in Ordnung. Es gab ausreichend Ablagemöglichkeiten und Stauraum. Die Betten waren groß und bequem. Das Bad war klein, aber gut ausreichend und hatte ein Fenster. Der Pool war sauber und groß mit einer ausreichenden Anzahl an Liegen. Die Sonnenschirme hätten etwas größer sein können. Der Parkplatz war groß und gut erreichbar. Das Frühstücksbüffet war durchschnittlich und ohne Abwechslung. Es gab 2 Brotsorten, Croissants, eine Käsesorte, eine Wurstsorte, Rührei, Speck, Kuchen, Obst und Joghurt. Der coffeinfreie Kaffee musste extra bezahlt werden, was wir nicht so gut fanden. Alles in allem ist das Hotel auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

Das Frühstück war wenig abwechslungsreich, der Personal eher distanziert höflich. Zum Teil konnte man Verkehrslärm auf dem Balkon hören, der uns aber nicht gestört hat. Im Zimmer was es ruhig.

Achilles Hills Hotel is probably the place where we found all the comfort, peacefulness and joy we could find in our vacation. The place is superb in the evening, when one can admire the sunset over the Methoni castle and the bay while listen dogs barking at distance and then hear the roosters and donkeys sing in the morning...more so from the 24h infinite pool open view... The blend of modern and authentic is just magnificent. Referring to more common reviews comments, cleanness, respect for clients, intimacy, food at the restaurant, wine and serving is irreproachable and suuper. Everything around, from Methoni surroundings, beaches, waterfalls, castles, museums, olive tours or just Greek villages in Messenia or Mani we have visited, continues to brings us memories we want to return to. We extend congratulations to the owner family and hope to see them again. Enjoy your vacation there, you won't regret.

Helpful and friendly staff. Very nice terrace, overseeing the little town of Methoni and the sea. We received a small gift upon check-out, which was a wonderful surprise.

The rooms are a bit dark.
