Paul's rental home near Dominical is as comfortable as it is beautiful. Alejandro and the cleaning crew are wonderful and super helpful. The area is lovely and easy to get around. Some logistics: We flew on Sansa from San José to Quepos. We rented a car at Adobe Car Rental (with Alejandro's help) and they met us at the airport with the car. The Quepos airport is about 30 minutes from the house and the road is nice. There are many great restaurants in the town of Dominical and in the town of Uvita, 20 minutes south of the house. There's a nice surfing or boogie boarding beach across the road from the house. Paul provides boogie boards, and we rented surf boards in Dominical. The kitchen is well stocked and Alejandro makes sure you have a few necessities when you arrive. There is a nice market in Dominical, 2 minutes from the house and BM Supermarkets in either Quepos or Uvita. Overall, this is one of the best managed rentals we've stayed in!

What a beautiful house with incredible ocean views. It is possible to have complete open-air living and was like sleeping outdoors with a very comfortable bed. Having returned home, I am missing the sound of the waves. Alejandro made arrangements for a shuttle to pick us up in San Jose and drive us to the house. Then our rental car was delivered to us and was picked up at the house at the end of our stay. Nothing could have been more convenient. Best vacation ever.

We absolutely loved this property! We were a group of 7, parents, adult kids plus significant others! The view never got old, the sound of the surf was sooo relaxing! We saw a monkey, toucans, and iguanas from the front deck! Were there a few minor difficulties.. sure. Yes, the driveway can be intimidating, yes, toilet paper goes in the garbage, yes, construction trucks rumble up & down the driveway. Don’t care. Can’t wait to go back!! Paul & Alejandro were super friendly & super helpful. We cooked breakfast every morning at the house & enjoyed dinners at La Pascala, Exotica, and Citrus. We also LOVED having Manrique & Diego (from Chef Roy) cook 2 dinners at the house. We had the time of our life on our excursion with Amigos Del Rio! Ziplining, rappelling & Tarzan swinging with amazing guides, Michael, Enoc, and Graben! Unforgettable! Pura Vida!!

The house was amazing and the view was incredible. All the pictures and description were spot on. Lots of room for everyone, the amenities were awesome, the pool and that view can't be beaten. Paul and Alejandro were awesome to work with and were very responsive throughout the booking and rental process. Everyone in our group would sit by the pool admiring the view for hours. We would stay here again and again.

Location, location, location! This gorgeous property had everything we were looking for: near the beach and Dominical, had plenty of space, a partially covered pool to avoid the sun on hot days, a grill and a washer/dryer to make our stay easy. We fell in love with the sunsets, the sound of the ocean surf, the monkeys that visited most days, and the beautiful views! Our concierge Alejandro was very helpful and took the mystery out of traveling to Costa Rica, and helped us reserve our wonderful day adventures (kayaking in the Mangroves, horseback riding to Nauyaca Falls, ATV riding through the mountains) and even our in-house private chef and massages. We were delighted to meet the owner Paul, who is so friendly and laid-back and embodies the culture of the beaches and the rain forest. This property was everything we we wanted, and did not disappoint in any fashion. We highly recommend this location for those who want to enjoy the local area, but have a private oasis to return to each day and enjoy the beautiful views. The only reason we gave this 5 stars is because we could not give it 6!

Our party of 7 stayed at this beautiful property. It was perfect! Pictures and description are true …and to be honest the property far exceeded our expectations in person. Paul the owner was very helpful in his welcome email and during the months leading up to our stay. Alejandro was wonderful. He helped us with recommendations and booking some of our activities from the moment we reserved the property. He even helped us with a personal chef for the night of our arrival. Well worth it to have Chef Roger Morales. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

This property is incredible. It exceeded our expectations in every way, and we expected a lot. It was my families first time in Costa Rica, and we loved everything about the country. The landscape and the people are amazing. Paul, and Alejandro went out of their way to make this trip one of the best trips we have ever been on. Anything that we needed they jumped right on it. Best house any of us have ever stayed in on vacation! Yes, there always a few hiccups with any property you stay at for longer than a night or two, but Paul and Alejandro were quick to respond, and do their best to accommodate. The views are absolutely incredible and the outside gathering spots are amazing! Some days we just hung out here all day and were perfectly content. My only (small) critiques would be: The kitchen is probably a little small for the overall grand scale of the house, but certainly not a problem. Also, the spa is not heated like we were used to, but with the heat of Costa Rica, it was not an issue for the most part. Driveway is very steep, but we never had to engage 4-wheel drive on our vehicles. They are currently building above Paul's house, so there are a lot of dump trucks going up and down at all daylight hours. Very loud! Biggest gotcha for our group however, was how expensive groceries and restaurants are in Costa Rica. Be prepared! Overall, a tremendous time with great friends. My advice is to book this place and look no further!

Absolutely beautiful home with amazing views. Had everything we needed and more. Great home base to visit Manuel Antonio, Nauyaca falls and many other beaches, parks, tours or excursions. Or you can book in home massages and a private chef and eat dinner while watching the sunset! Alejandro is awesome and will help you with everything- airport shuttle, rental car, tour reservations, chef.. The beds are super comfy and we had monkeys visit us one afternoon too!

Beautiful property with amazing views. It is a short trip into Dominical and good location for excursions. The concierge, Alejandro, was wonderful to work with. He was able to arrange excursions, car rentals, chefs and transport to and from the airport. The property has many amenities including a back up generator which came in handy when we lost power during a thunderstorm. I would recommend this property without reservation.

We were a group of 7 adults sharing this beautiful home. We have rented 40 places from Thailand to Budapest and have never stayed in a place like this. The love and the thought that went into the design of this place is impressive. The small nearby town of Dominical and the beaches were great and fun to explore and enjoy. We never actually walked to town as it was such a short drive and so much easier. The kitchen is not a "chef's" kitchen but plenty adequate for our group. Tons of pots and pans and anything you might need. Grocery stores in town had a surprising selection of delicious items to choose from for dinner. We went to the farmers market in Uvita and bought fresh fish from the previous night that was amazing. The BBQ is first rate and has all the horsepower you could want. The beds were extremely comfortable and the air-conditioning in the bedrooms gave us a pleasant break for the heat. This place is popular, so usually days are booked adjacent to your stay. Don't expect to be able to get in at 4:00 pm, the maids are tasked with having everything perfect for you and you may need to wait an extra hour or two in the afternoon of your arrival. Also, they want to get an early start on your departure day. The maids are extremely friendly. Also the owner provides nice beach gear and boogey boards! A great vacation

We really enjoyed staying at Wave Watcher Villa. Paul was a gracious host and we appreciated his visit to maintain the property and chat with us for a bit. Alejandro, the concierge, was invaluable to our getting to know the area and quick tips on where to eat, park, etc. We had no issues with parking in the garage, but I guess it can be tricky for some. I would definitely recommend getting a car even if u are an athlete and can get up the hill. Walking along the busy highway is not safe. Although we completed a fishing and ATV excursion which were a blast, I think the most memorable events were viewing the sunset in/from the pool with our group of friends and sharing dinners prepared by the chef. That said, our experience with hiring a chef was not quite as gourmet as we had envisioned, so I recommend keeping the menu to local fare. The last meal made with our recent catch, rice, beans, salad & plantains was delicious. You just can’t beat sharing a beautiful place with people you love and have fun with. Great home with amazing views. Driveway is not for faint of heart and 4x4 is a must

Things that you should know before booking: 1. The short walk to the beach as described in the description is not short if you are not a resident that is used to the local topography. Its up and down a long and pretty steep driveway-then a walk down the side of a hot highway- so if you have little kids or older folks- you will want to drive to the beach- which only takes three minutes- but still- it's not what we typically expect as easy beach access. This is important to keep in mind. 2. You will be asked not to flush any bathroom waste/ toilet paper down the toilets- they will be disposed of in trash cans- not everyone is used to this- especially women at certain times of the month. This can be uncomfortable for some 3. There are 3 dogs next door- and one of them barks incessantly. For two to three hours in the morning and also at night. Chihuahua style piercing barks. You have to be okay with being woken up at 6:30am to loud barking dogs. 4. You will constantly hear the highway traffic below- including very loud semi-trailer trucks. 5. Parking at the house is done in a lower garage in a weird steep angle/incline- so you must have decent driving/parking skills in order to not damage your vehicle or the house as you will be backing in and out of the garage each time you leave 6. You will have maid/pool service people at the house twice a week while you are there. So, your stay is not totally private. Now that you know the things you should know- the property is spectacular. We saw wildlife there- the house is super well designed and furnished- you wake up and you can hear and see the surf- the Jacuzzi and pool are wonderful- everything is the house is comfortable and awesome. The best part? The sunsets. Wow. Also getting to town to eat is super quick and easy-plenty of dining options. Id strongly suggest sticking with real local style cuisine places and avoid the touristy thai/sushi/brewery places as. Beaches are really nice too with a looong walk available at low tide. They are all public beaches but nearly empty. Oh and the owner and his concierge Alejandro are wonderful folks- who if you need anything at all- are right on it. There is also so much space to spread out- the house is huge. Kitchen is fully furnished as well with everything you need. Despite all the things you should know, you will have a GREAT time there. You just feel at home in the house and the country.

Amazing home with spectacular ocean view.

This house is amazing. It was a little more than we expected (and we expected a lot). The sea and sunset views from the mountain location are almost too good to be true. The property management team are available to aid whenever you need and will help with a wide variety of requests. I would stay in the property or another of their properties again without hesitation.

Have you ever seen a VRBO (or anything for that matter) with more than 100 reviews with 5 stars? This house lives up to its 5 star rating. Everything was beyond expectations. The house was clean and exactly as described. The views were breathtaking. The location couldn’t have been better. Dominical is a cute little beach town with everything you need for your vacation. Alejandro (property manager) was always easy to get ahold of and was wonderful in getting us lined up with whatever adventure we wanted. The Manuel Antonio National Park was sold out but all it took was one call to Alejandro and we had tickets for 8 with a private tour guide. There wasn’t one thing that could have been better. Our stay was spectacular. This was an amazing house. So glad we found it. We will be back.

Getting up early to see the waves was easy. Watching the sunset over the ocean was amazing. Close to town and easy drive to excursions in Uvita and Quepos. The house is a great place to start and end your days if you are planning on being out hiking or day tours. Great place to spend the day if you just want to lounge. Very comfortable settings. Saw Howler and Capuchin monkeys, iguanas and other wildlife from the house. Pretty cool!

Pictures don’t do Paul’s place justice. The property is magnificent, the views are spectacular and the host and his concierge are very responsive. In addition the area is wonderfully unspoiled. My family had a great time. I would unconditionally recommend this property.

This home was amazing! We had four couples and we each had our own bedroom suite. The rooms were large and very comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay. This home was built with the highest quality. Beautiful woodwork, tile and furniture. The kitchen had everything you would need. We had a private chef come in twice and our food was amazing. The swimming pool and spa were everything we expected. It is hard to explain in words what the view of the beach and sunsets we had every night. To wake up looking at the ocean and hearing it crash into the beach was amazing! We are already planning our next trip to this home. Thank you Alejandro and Paul for an amazing experience.

This house exceeded our expectations. The photos don’t do this beautiful property justice. Our family of six adults and two children enjoyed a wonderful stay here in Dominical. From the moment we arrived until our last day, Paul and Alejandro made sure that all of our needs were met. Our rental cars were delivered to the house, Chef Roger prepared a delicious meal and our concierge, Alejandro expedited our excursions and gave us a tour of the house and Dominical. This house is the perfect blend of luxury and indoor/outdoor living and we enjoyed all the amenities. The location was perfect and the view was magnificent. The driveway is steep but very doable. Highly recommend this property.

Our 15th trip to Costa, 4th in the last year and 2nd time visiting Dominical/Ballena... We had a blast and highly recommend this kick-azz home (and I'm sure, any of Paul's properties). The house is beautiful with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Our hosts, Paul and Alejandro, helped us feel welcome and pointed us to some of the best activities in the area. Dominical has nice restaurants and is close to Manuel Antonio nation park and the Osa area. We had a fantastic time.

A fabulous location and property! Every detail taken into account. Both Paul and Alejandro were very responsive and care greatly about their clients, which is extremely refreshing. The kitchen was fantastic, but only second to the four master bedrooms and views! Well, we’ll worth every penny! This property shows beautifully on web site, but is even more spectacular in person. The owner, Paul, designed and built this villa to take full advantage of the hillside setting with spectacular views, jungle setting, privacy and every accommodation imaginable. We celebrated on 50th anniversary here with our family and truly enjoyed all of the facilities offered both on property and in the surrounding area. Highly recommend hiring a chef for some meals (we used Chef Roger who was outstanding).
