Magnificent breakfast, very good food, friendly and helpful staff.

Rooms are fairly simple, but functional.

Everything was wonderful. This is a perfect place to retreat from the world and hike in the fjäll during the day. It is clear that it is a labor of love, with the owner and staff paying attention to every detail and offering exceptionel service. I wrote in advance that I don't eat gluten or dairy and they not only provided custom meals but they were excellent. I had also booked private time in the sauna and Jacuzzi after dinner and they ensured I was served dessert in time so I wouldn't miss it. They remember each guest and their needs. They also offer great hiking tips. The breakfast, sack lunch, and three-course meal every day included with the room (if you book the hjälppension) are gemerous and of exceptionel quality. You can order drinks to be delivered to the private sauna/Jacuzzi, the veranda, or the cozy lodge room downstairs, where there is a cozy fire every evening. The decor is immaculate and tasteful and creates a wonderful feeling of a Mountain lodge. There are hand-painted scenes of the region. I usually do not travel and stay in the same place twice but if I have a car I'll stay here again. It is very quiet. I stayed here alone and found it very relaxing and quiet. Most clientele were older couples and families. This is not a hostel or single party atmosphere. There are fewer hikers on the trail around here, whereas trails leaving from Grövelsjön Fjällstation are quite crowded. If you want the wilderness to yourself this is a good option.

The only problem is that the location on Google and other transport apps is inaccurate and I booked it assuming it was a 7-minute walk from the bus station, not 3km uphill. The hotel arrange to pick people up from the bus in advance, and the owner happened upon me and gave me a ride, and on my last day they drove my bag to another location so I could hike there since the only bus would have been in late afternoon. The bus runs rarely, so unless you have a car or only want to explore the trails around the immediate area, I would recommend another base. With a car, however, this is the perfect place to stay in North Dalarna.

Need dark curtains for the summer. Couldn't sleep well. :(
