We had a great stay at this beautiful house with our family of five. It is a very nice place. It's in a secluded rural area that is very quiet-yes you need an SUV. We arrived at night but Magdalena our host was there waiting and provided great directions. She was great with recommendations during our stay. It was about a 30 minute drive to the La Fortuna area for neighboring attractions during our stay.

We stayed 5 days and the house is perfect. The views are truly beautiful. The person in the group that gets the master is in for a treat. Never hesitate to call your host. She is fabulous.

The views from this house are amazing. The layout is terrific - with 270 degree views from the vast deck areas. The interior is luxurious. The rancho offers a completely additional leisure space, with BBQ, couches, dining area and hot tub. We enjoyed mornings and afternoons on the decks - sipping coffee and watching the humming birds, parrots and other wildlife visit the property. We have been to many VRBOs, and what made this one truly special was the personal attention from host Magdalena. We have never had a VRBO host who was so responsive and helpful during our stay. She was basically a tour guide - offering terrific recommendations for activities and restaurants (including an amazing breakfast at a local farm).

We had high expectations for this house. I spent hours searching for a place near Fortuna that offered real luxury without risk of misrepresentation. This was the only place, on both vacation websites, that met our criteria. The house and three night stay were amazing! We relaxed, we ate, and we explored. Our kids played and spotted animals and birds. The view was spectacular. I took lots of pictures and called people to show the place on FaceTime. Here are things I hope you find helpful to know. Sorry if I repeat other reviewers. 1. Magdalena is a great host! She made sure our needs were met, and more. She even set us up with breakfast at a nearby farm - probably the best meal of our time in Arenal. 2. The last mile or so of the road to the house is rough. Our front wheel drive Audi Q3 handled it fine, even in the rain. Just drive slowly. The house is close enough to Fortuna and on the way to La Paz Waterfall Gardens. 3. The area is not great for ‘foodies’. Restaurant options are pretty limited and basic. So the more you like to cook (yourself), the longer you’ll want to stay.

The porperty was beautiful and snuggled away in the mountains outside of Lafortuna. Magdalena the host goes above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable. I have booked many times on Vrbo and this is the first time in which the host ensured on a daily basis all your needs were met. She really made my partner and I feel like we were home. I would recommend this property above any other in the area!

Our family loved our stay here. The house is modern with all the conveniences of home. It is located high on a hill side and you can see for miles from the back deck. It is located outside of Fortuna, but we could get to all of the Arenal attractions we wanted to do within a half hour or less.

Magdalena and Max were great at communicating via Whatsapp. She welcomed us into the home and explained everything. The house and its property are just gorgeous and so peaceful. Nature at it's best. To appreciate the view and fresh air, one must be there! Pictures don't do justice. Magdalena thought of everything her guests may need. House was clean and so cozy. She had a beautiful xmas tree!! Comfortable beds with great bedding and towels. Amazing outdoor hot tub with BBQ area, perfect for chilling at night. Make sure you get some local steaks from La Fortuna at Carnicas Carranza!!! And coffee at the red frog in La Fortuna. Best freshly roasted beans coffee!!! Magdalena was always available to answer any questions. Super safe location, just a bit out of the town so a car is a must and possibly SUV type. Worth the drive. This was an amazing experience for us as first time visitors to Costa Rica. People are so friendly and welcoming!! And the best part, this is a country full of cows and beautiful lush pastures, and it is so clean!!! Great coffee and great locally sourced food!!!! We loved it!!

The house is amazing. Surrounded by nature, sunsets and wildlife. We look forward to going back again.

This property was exactly as described. Isolated but pretty close to La Fortuna. We couldn’t be more pleased with the house as it large and well looked after. The grounds were very nicely groomed with some beautiful flowers. Magdalena was very pleasant to deal with and she answered all inquiries promptly. We would rate this property a 5 out of 5.

Great place to stay! Great location for easy access to La Fortuna but much quieter and private location. Hot tub was great and they had great air conditioning. The Home in The Mountains had the best internet from all the locations we stayed in Costa Rica.

The House was nice and comfortable but a little far from La Fortuna, like 40 minutes driving.

We were extremely pleased with this rental, lots to do and see in this area. Both Magdalena and her caretaker Johnathan were very informative and extremely helpful. Johnathan goes out of his way to ensure the home is cleaned daily and everything is in order. We highly recommend Bar Lima Tango, which is about a half mile down the main road, for a good meal, drinks and general socializing with the locals. The owner is wonderful and very accommodating.

We absolutely loved this house and are hoping to go back one day. It was so clean and quiet and well kept. There are nice restaurants and cafes in La Fortuna which is just over a half hour drive by car. There are also a couple of restaurants that are about a 15 minute drive away that are quite nice like La Hacienda. We were able to get to Arenal and back quite easily for day trips as the highway is well kept and paved. Magdalena was so kind and even had a crib and high chair at the house for our baby. Jonathan stays near the property and was very helpful and there whenever we needed anything. But also very respectful of our privacy. We loved the jacuzzi at night under the stars and watching the sunrise from the patio. The house is well set up with everything you need. Would highly recommend this beautiful home.

Outstanding place to stay. Great views, privacy and a beautiful home. Great service and an amazing host. We loved it. We feel that this home allowed us to truly experience Costa Rica. This place is unbelievably beautiful. The house itself is modern with everything you could want. During our stay their was construction on adjacent property and the wifi was spotty. These were minor issues for us.

My husband and I and our two adult children (College age) absolutely loved Magdalena’s home! The view was amazing, the kitchen was well equipped, and the beds were very comfortable, The Master Bedroom is big - it has a king size bed and a single bed with extra space, to spare. A/C in the bedrooms was wonderful. The shower in master bedroom is awesome - it is oversized probably 5’ x 4’ - it has a large square shower head, and two shower heads that come out from the side wall plus a there is handheld shower head. We loved sitting on the porch each morning and evening, it was so relaxing. The groundskeeper, Jonathan, keeps the house very clean, he had the jacuzzi ready for us upon our arrival and he washed, dried and folded our clothes for us! Also during our stay I had lost my credit card. Jonathan found it in the jacuzzi area and left it on the kitchen counter for me! Magdalena was so helpful with making reservations for us and helping us make the most of our stay. This is a wonderful, upper class home.

We had a wonderful stay at the house. The grounds are beautiful. We sat out at night just listening to nature on the deck. It was just wonderful. We ate at Billy's BBQ, best pork ribs EVER! Jonathan was very accommodating, super nice guy. Magdalena, the owner, helped us with setting up an excursion. We loved our stay, love Costa Rica!

The best vacation rental we have ever stayed at in Costa Rica! Air conditioning in all three bedrooms is a huge plus! There is an amazing panoramic view of farms and Valley and Arenal. Drank our coffee every morning on patio while listening to howler monkeys, cows, roosters and macaws. Magdalena is a wonderful host! She took great care of us from the beginning to end of our stay. She gave us perfect directions to the house, great recommendations for sites and restaurants... it’s like having your own personal concierge service! Jonathan was a great help! Close enough for day trips and tourism adventures but well away from the busy city. A true Costa Roca immersion experience

Beautiful house, everything you would ever need. Close enough yet far enough from all the attractions. When we come back, this is the only place we will stay.

We recently stayed here for a full week. Everything was EXACTLY what we had hoped for. Magdalena was amazing and helped us with every step of our vacation. She set us up with a driver, booked our adventures, and was able to have our groceries waiting for us upon our arrival. The house is about 30 mins from town, which we loved! The view was worth it and the peaceful mornings are exactly what we wanted. Magdalena thinks of everything to make sure that you are well taken care of, including someone to provide fresh towels on a regular basis! If we ever get to stay in La Fortuna again, we will only stay with Magdalena!

This was my second time to Costa Rica and we will be back. The experience is invigorating, there is never a dull moment. At the house itself, we seen green parrots and tucans and one night could hear the howlers, just incredible! The hot tub was the best to go home to after a long day of travelling and seeing the sites. The slow raft/boat tour is the best if you want to see wildlife; monkeys, sloths, iguanas, birds, etc...can't beat it. Baldi's blows away the Dr Paradise place so don't waste your time, go straight to Baldi's. The people who complained about the towels must have gotten theirs stolen or lost because if you rent them, you get your money back when they are returned, so what's the problem? The food is just fine, no issues, we enjoyed it and we are very fussy! The house is very clean and fully equipped and Magdalena and Jonathan who helps out around the house are continually there to help with a friendly smile! You have to remember you're in the tropics so insects are a given, there is no way around it. Bring a flashlight for a night if you walk around the house. The drive to the house, well, as other reviews have said, you need to do this during the day! We tried to but the flight was late and getting our car was late so the drive was very very tough!!! Going home was much easier. it takes 2 to 2.5 hrs to get there from airport. The view at the house you will most likely NEVER SEE AGAIN!!! We felt like celebrities sitting on the mountain in this classy glassed home! Super cool. So, if you haven't gone to Costa Rica...what are you waiting for?

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute of our stay in this home. When reading some of the reviews during my search I was concern about the access to the property and had some reservations about the distance to La Fortuna, but my worries were easily transformed to joy when we reached the entrance to the house without a glitch, there was a short up-hill dirt road but it was in good condition, just a matter of getting used to, no need for a four wheel drive. The same was true for the drive to La Fortuna, it took us about 25 minutes the first time, but later it only took us 20 minutes once you know where you are going. The house was very spacious and comfortable, Magdalena was awesome she provided us guidance and excellent recommendations for our tours and restaurants. We definitely recommend this home to anyone that loves nature for the magnificent view of the valley and the early morning beautiful sunrise.

It was a fabulous home with lots of space. The bedrooms all have ac. The living room and kitchen does not but If you open all the sliders there is a nice breeze that comes through. The only thing that is a negative is thr drive to get there. We rented a 4x truck which was well needed to get to hous . The roads are very very bumpy with stones and gravel. You just have to take it very slow. Jonathan was a big help when it came to helping us find things and he even washed our clothes for us. Maria was also a big help responding to our emails quickly when ever we had a question or concern. The drive to la Fortuna and arenal was about a 45 minute drive everyday and that's where all the attractions are. Overall we had alot of fun white water rafting tubing and zip lining. Out best adventures were finding waterfalls and swimming. It was a blast.

We had an amazing time staying here! House is very comfortable and the view is spectacular. The jacuzzi at the gazebo was great for our family to hang out there till very late. I definitely recommend having your own car rental because La Fortuna/Arenal is about 35 mins from the house and that is where most of the action is. We are very open mind and didn't care about the bumpy road. In summary, great time with an amazing "owner" extremely service oriented. Gracias Magdalena!
