This is a perfect home away from home stay in Amboise. Central location, apartment as in photos: spacious, comfortable beds, stocked kitchen. Thoughtful touches such as sparkling wine in fridge and slippers. Claude is a gracious and responsive host. We wish we could have stayed longer.

We really like Claude's property. The location could not have been better and he even picked us up at the train station when we arrived! During our stay in Amboise it was really, really hot and the apartment is not air-conditioned, so it was a little warm inside. Regardless of the weather we loved Amboise, the apartment, the location, and our stay there.

This apartment is in an ideal location to explore Amboise and the many castles of Loire. It was clean and well stocked. Reserved parking space is nearby. We were glad to be able to do laundry and to spread out a bit after few nights in tight hotel rooms. Claude was very friendly and helpful. We loved Claude's apartment in Amboise! The location was perfect and the parking was just a short distance away (about three blocks). Though Claude doesn't speak English, he responded quickly when we had an issue with the hot water. He also picked us up and dropped us off at the train station on arrival and departure. The apartment was a bit dusty and could use a good deep cleaning. Since others have commented on its cleanliness, we assumed it was related to our being there off-season. We would definitely stay there again.

Good central location for Amboise downtown and chateau as well as the Loire in general. M. Spitz was very accommodating and very helpful with a small challenge we had with the washer. I would recommend this spot to travellers considering a homebase in the Loire

Family of 5 enjoyed this 2 bedroom apartment, with one child sleeping on the couch. Plenty of space in apartment and kitchen well equipped for our needs. Great location for walking to bakery and restaurants. They had a cute little high chair that my 2 year old loved. Nice peek at the castle through the window too. Only a shower, no tub, wasn’t a problem for us, but I know it is for some. The parking is a bit of a walk but I think that’s just how it is in this area. We were glad to have a reserved spot.

Upon arrival we found we had no address and the phone number was no longer in use. A local realtor was able to finally contact the owner who does not speak English so communication was difficult. It took 3 hours to sort it out. The owner is very nice, tried in every way to be of help. The apartment has a nice layout and is spacious and homey. There was only 1 fan and really needed 3; 1 for each bedroom and 1 for the living area. We had laundry stuck in the washer but again the owner came over to help. The area is beautiful. Cross the bridge at night to see the castle light up. We ran out of time and did not see Van Gogh’s home, a true shame as it is highly regarded. Fabulous ambiance, great restaurants, a lovely area, highly recommend the home and town. We were there for 3 nights. Prior to arrival make sure you have the address and contact phone number to make your stay easier from the onset. We use VRBO a great deal and can happily recommend this home.

Perfect little apartment in the heart of Amboise. Exceptionally clean and well appointed. Close to restaurants, Chateau and the best patisserie for your morning petite déjeuner and freshly baked croissant fix. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Very clean and spacious and the host greeted us upon arrival to show us the place and the parking spot. We even received a free bottle of champagne! Very quiet and decent sized bathroom (since we were used smaller ones from the rest of our trip) The apartment is a short walk around the corner to the castle in town and you can see part of it from the window. There were plenty of restaurants the street over as well as bakeries and small cafes. Would highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

I would recommend this property and stay here again. Location is great. It is a clean, well organized 2 bedroom with a bathroom/shower that is accessed through the living room so you don’t have to go through a bedroom to get to it. There is a small washing machine - no dryer, but the drying rack works great. Full kitchen with a complimentary bottle of champagne upon arrival. It’s in the attic on the building (2 floors up) so it might be a little hot in the summer, but the temperature was perfect for us at the end of September. Parking is secure and we did not mind the short walk to the parking space but we also were not carrying a lot of luggage. A really cute, great apartment.

This apartment is above a restaurant and I was worried it would have cooking odors and a lot of noise, but it did not. It is an upper scale restaurant, small and quiet. The restaurant does have a back patio with outside seating and the apartment's kitchen window opens directly over that patio so you can hear dinner conversation from there if you have the window open. The other side of the apartment has windows that open over the street, the street is a one-way narrow street with quite a bit of pedestrian and auto traffic and it can get a little noisy in the evenings. There is no air conditioning so you will definitely want the windows open if it is warm out. The apartment is very cute (better than the photos) and comfortable and the owner has given attention to the little details that make your stay comfortable. One bedroom has a double bed (or maybe a queen?) the other bedroom has two single beds. I used a single bed that maybe should have been replaced a few years ago but I flipped the mattress and it seemed to be better. The bathroom is modern with a shower (no tub) and a washing machine, no dryer, an iron and ironing board. Wifi was okay, I could not find any English TV stations. You have a lovely view of the castle from the kitchen window and it is only about a 3 minute walk from the apartment. I have asthma and am sensitive to smells, fragrances and mold but I did not have any problems here. Lots of bakeries and restaurants and shops in the area. Everything is about a three minute walk from the apartment: Tourist Information Office, grocery store, clothing shops, wine shops. My GPS could not find the address so I used the address of a local shop to get close. I just went into Google Maps Satellite to see the area by using the the name of the restaurant that is downstairs: L'Echanson. Elisabeth Spitz if your landlady, she is a lovely lady and very accommodating. To communicate with her you should know that she does better texting than talking on the phone because of the language barrier, her number is +33 6 40 75 15 99. You will have to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs. There is a parking garage that goes with the apartment, it is about three blocks away and I found it very difficult to park there. I was able to find parking on the street but be aware that the parking police do check often to make sure you have paid. Sunday parking is free and I was able to find a few free parking spaces in the area.

It was also the perfect home base to stay at and drive to chateaus (we went to Cheverny, Chenonceau, Chinon, and Chambord). There was a boulangerie near by where we got coffee and breakfast each morning. On Sundays there is also a very nice market by the river on Sundays. The parking was a little bit hard to find at first but Elisabeth’s husband very kindly showed us where it was after we checked in. They even left a nice jar of jam and champagne for us in the refrigerator. Such wonderful hosts and a great place to stay. Three friends and I stayed at this lovely apartment for 5 nights. It is very comfortable with a modern and well equipped kitchen and bath, with lots of thoughtful touches. There is a view of the castle from a window and the apartment was right in the middle of Amboise. We had a terrific time and Elizabeth was very helpful. Furnishings are very nice and beds are comfortable. However the apartment is two flights up and the dedicated parking space is about 5 blocks away. So if people have mobility issues, this might be a problem. But for everyone else, I would recommend highly.

We were lucky on arrival to find parking right outside the apartment which is not guaranteed. The narrow one way streets add to the charm of the city, but can mean a bit of a hike with cases. The apartment is on the second floor which was fine for us, but may put visitors off if they are not comfortable with stairs. The apartment is well furnished, comfortable and had good heating and drying facilities, which we discovered after a particularly wet day! Elisabeth Spitz met us on arrival and gave us lots of helpful information about the local shops, one way streets and local attractions. We would certainly stay there again if we are returning to Amboise.

This is a darling apartment close to the chateau and very central. Elizabeth and her husband were wonderful hosts. They picked us up at the train station (and even took us to the grocery store) and then arranged for someone else to take us back at the end of our stay when they couldn't. (Hope you had a wonderful time in Nevada!) The apartment was very clean, well equipped- the nicest place we stayed on our 3-stop trip through France. Thank you Elizabeth- we had a great time!

We just returned from a 7 night visit to Elisabeth's property. It was hands down fantastic. I'll give as much detail as possible so you can decide if it's the right spot for you, but it was definitely the perfect spot for us. I let Elisabeth know that we'd be arriving in Amboise around noon after an overnight flight. She was happy to let us into the property early and met us at the door. There was no elevator or AC (which is what you should expect for small properties in Europe) and it was not a problem. We parked our stroller in the secure front entry. The first two days were pretty terribly hot (96 degrees) and had that lasted our whole trip I might not have been so happy. But the weather normalized to highs in the 70s for the remainder of our trip and it was great. Elisabeth provided a high chair and crib for our two yr old son along with a welcome bottle of sparkling wine and marmalade. We tried sleeping in both rooms - pushing the twins together to provide us with more space and then the full sized when we noticed it provided a bit more support. We are really picky on beds both having back problems, and we found these to be fairly good given that it's a rental property and not a hotel. The house has a dishwasher and washer machine, which Elisabeth provided detergent for. We used the washer machine several times allowing us to pack lightly for our trip. The windows provided a lovely breeze. There was neighborhood noise, but in a nice way, not an annoyance. There are shades and curtains on the bedroom windows which provided near blackout coverage. Having designated parking was wonderful and the short walk to our car was a nice way to see a little bit of town. The location is fantastic - one street away from the chateau and lots of restaurants. If you aren't eating on French meal times (most places closed between 2 and 7 pm), there are good restaurants just around the corner that provide non stop service or at least earlier dinner hours. That was great given traveling with a small child. Oh, and lastly, about a week before we arrived I told Elisabeth that we planned to depart a day early so we weren't stressed driving up to Paris for a noon flight. She pleasantly provided us with a refund for that last evening, despite it being well within the cancellation period. I just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this property. Thank you, Elisabeth, for such a lovely stay!

The location is great with easy walking access to restaurants and Château Royal d'Amboise is an easy walk. We drove and the parking although a good walk from the apartment worked perfectly. My husband and I stayed at this two bed room apartment for four nights. We arrived at the train station around 9pm and was a little worried about how to get to the apartment. Elithabeth and her husband were waiting for us at there with their SUV. They picked us up and we stopped at the grocery store to get some essentials for the night. The apartment was nice and charming with everything that we needed and more. The place is great for families with a fully functioned kitchen. The location of the apartment is great, there are a lot of shops, bakery, coffees and restaurants around it. You can walk to the Chateau and the river. We rented a car when we were there. Elithabeth and her husband showed us where the parking was but we couldn't find It the second day. However, we found a free public parking so we just parked the car there. There is a few minutes walk from the parking to the apartment but it was not bad and we love to walk around when I travel so it didn't bother us at all. The only issue we had was we didn't know how to use the washer. We used google translator try to figure it out but still didn't know. It was too late to contact the owner so we just got our clothes out and air dried them with getting them washed. The overall experience was great, we would definitely come back and stay there again.
