A nice stay at the resort, peaceful and quiet

We couldn’t have asked for more! The Canaan Valley and this property were way beyond our expectations. For two people, it’s ideal. It is comfortable, spacious, close to Davis, Thomas, Dolly Sods, state parks, preserves and refuges. The price is very affordable in the low season. The entire property is gorgeous and immaculately landscaped. The view from our third-floor inn suite was tremendous. We enjoyed waking in the morning to the mountains and watching the curtain of mist and clouds rise over the mountains and sitting on the covered deck at night watching the curtain of darkness fall on the mountains while the sky revealed more stars than we’ve seen in a long time. On our last night, a lighting display that backlit the clouds in the distance was a sight to behold, something we may never see again in our lifetimes. We watched it for an hour. Because there is so much to see and do in the area, we didn’t even have time to take advantage of amenities, such as the indoor fireplace, outdoor fire ring and jacuzzi tub in our suite. Can’t recommend this rental or this area of W. Va. enough! We immersed ourselves in the local hiking and walking trails, kayaking opportunities, scenery, culture and history and met so many wonderful locals. There aren’t many restaurants, but they are all great and unique. We will be back. Thank you, Cameron, for giving us memories to last forever.

Very cozy one room condo. The futon was a little aged and very low to the ground. But the bed was amazing very comfortable. The jacuzzi tub a very nice finish to the evenings to just relax for a bit. The toilet being seperate from the rest of bathroom was nice.

Great location between ski resorts and blackwater falls state park. Just enough for a family of three and a small doggo for a long weekend.

Absolutely gorgeous! There is a perfect walking path right on sight which my husband and I loved. It is such a comfy and cozy place. My husband and I loved the local hiking trails and little shops in Davis and Thomas WV. We had a wonderful stay! We both highly recommend.

The property is well taken care of and the owner is very knowledgeable about the area. He suggested places to see and was very accurate in the beauty of the area! We enjoyed our stay!!!

Property is in a great location for experiencing all the area has to offer including Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley, and more. Owner has designed condo for maximum use of space. Would definitely rent again

Our experience was great! The host was great with communication and the condo was clean and had everything we needed! The balcony has amazing views and the lodge is in great proximity to town and lots of hikes. 50 minutes away is a via ferrata that we highly recommend! Definitely check this place out!!

The rental process was easy.

Black Bear Resort is awesome! It is right in the mountains and you can see most of Canaan Valley. Cameron is a great host. This is our second time back this year. We will definitely keep coming back! Plus it is pet friendly so its a great place to bring your dogs. :)

Just what we needed, very quiet and relaxing.

The resort was in a good location close to the state parks. Very disappointed the pool was having issues, so they closed it. The condo was nice but the hot water was always luke warm no matter how long you ran it and so odd to have your dishwasher and kitchen sink in the bathroom. Overall the place was clean and you can make it work considering was very affordable. And someone needs to clean the steps and halls leading to the units since this is your first impression and it was filthy.

Overall the rental was good. The pictures are a little misleading. The Keurig was not working properly. And just make sure you know that there is not really any counter space for cooking. The property is getting aged. Could use a facelift.

My pup Hero and I had the most wonderful five days here! It was so beautiful, and so convenient to the state parks and wilderness areas where we hiked. The grounds were gorgeous. And the jakuzzi! Perfect for tired legs after a day of hiking. We will be back! Thank you, Cameron, for being such a gracious host.
