We loved everything about this house and location. Highly recommend!!!

The house, pool, and beach were beautiful! We had our family vacation here in May 2023 which consisted of 9 adults and an 18 month old. We had plenty of space and it was nice having a private bathroom for each bedroom. The pool was a lot of fun and family friendly, although it was very warm for the weather (like bath water). The beds also could have been better, they were so soft and felt old. All the other amenities were great! The community's section of private beach was awesome, clean, and spacious. Overall we all loved it and would stay here again.

Other than a couple mattresses that were past their prime, this place exceeded expectations! We had four couples and our children there for two nights and we already looking forward to coming back again! Bathrooms for each bedroom are a wonderful extra and the short walk to the beach is perfect! Thanks for a great time!!

Family and friend getaway to escape the cold Midwest. This was the second time we stayed at this property. Lots of space to sprawl out and the amenities were so convenient, beautiful pool and super close to the beach. We will be back!

Extremely easy

This is a great choice for those who want to be away from the party scene. Families who enjoy a large gated pool and private serene beach will like this property. It would also be a good choice a retreat group.

Property is in a great location in a gated beachside neighborhood in Orange Beach. near the western edge of Gulf State Park. 350ft walk to the beach and the resort style swimming pool was great for all ages. House looked even better in person than the online photos. Property management company had great communication and didn’t ask too much of the guests. They took care of nearly everything so we could relax and enjoy our vacation. Would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed this beautiful home and hope to stay at Top Shelf 11 again soon. The home was the perfect size for our crew. The views, comfortable beds throughout, the kitchen supplies, and the proximity to the pool AND beach are perfect! I compared this home to others in the neighborhood and it is one of the most beautifully decorated, and none of the others have a better walk to the beach than Top Shelf, except for the ones that are literally beachfront. We would like to suggest (and give future guests a heads up) that all the door handles need to be changed out or fixed. None of them lock. Not one. That can be an issue when sharing such a big home with lots of people. And the only complaint I have, personally, is that the shower head in the master suite shower is the worst in the whole house. When everyone came in from the beach and needed to shower, it wasn’t ideal having to wait for others to finish so we could use their shower. Now, the shower head won’t keep me from returning to this gorgeous home away from home, but I would LOVE to see it replaced when I do get to come back.

We stayed a couple nights at Top Shelf and loved it! There were 18 of us total and the house felt like it was designed and built for our group. It was perfect! I definitely recommend it.

This property has been our go to family reunion spot for the past 5 years. We have several family units that come, and everyone has their space. The proximity to the beach and other attractions is wonderful. This year to property is showing some signs of wear. The flooring in the main living area is pealing up. The living and dining room seating need some cleaning and/or repair. I also think the cleaning crew between renters didn’t do a very good job this time (sandy floors and bathtubs, sticky counters). But for the price we paid, we would still return because of all of the other positives.

It's mostly everything advertised. It would have been perfect if it was right on the beach but 100 yards away was not an issue. Plenty of protected parking & well furnished. Going to/from the upper floor, however, takes 37 steps so you'll get a workout moving in and out! It's also well sound insulated so activities don't affect naps or sleeping.

Everything was great! I enjoyed everything I just wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks for everything!!

Property was great! Great location! This is the second time we have stayed here. We could definitely tell this year that some of the furniture, appliances and flooring were in need of some repairs, cleaning and TLC.

We had an excellent stay! We use VRBO for all of our bookings, but this is the most responsive experience we’ve ever had with the property manager. We traveled in to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and this property was the perfect host for our 20 guests! It was extremely clean and perfectly located in close proximity to all amenities. Thank you for an excellent time!

absolutely fantastic location, cleanliness, check in a breeze. Great place to stay for conference. We loved the privacy of bathrooms in every bedroom also.

Had an excellent time during our stay, just a few unfortunate issues while we were there. Master suite patio with beach view was blocked off and unusable. This was not stated at any time before arriving, and was very unfortunate not having access to this part of the cottage. Grill was unusable, had plenty of gas, but none of the burners worked well enough to roast a marshmallow. Very poor internet, when it was working signal was too poor to utilize in majority of house.

Lovely, well stocked house with perfect accommodations for our big family! Very convenient to the pool and the beach, quiet neighborhood and just a cozy place. We would definitely return!

This year (June 2022) our family of 15 which includes 8 adults and 7 children ages 3 to 8 enjoyed our second year at The Cottages at Romar Beach. This year we were in Top Shelf Cottage#11. It is a beautiful home and very well equipped. It is very close to the boardwalk to the beach and overlooks the amazing swimming pool. We had a couple of minor issues and Alabama Getaways staff very promptly addressed our issues. We love the Cottages of Romar Beach and Alabama Getaways! Looking forward to another visit next summer!

The place had everything we needed! It fit our family perfectly! Great location! We hope to stay there again!

The house was perfect for our family and friends. We had a group of 19 people ranging from 5 years old to 67 years old. Everyone enjoyed themselves so much! And it’s in a great location!

We had a wonderful vacation here. The home is beautiful and spacious. It gives everyone enough privacy and provides a wonderful space to gather. The beds are extremely comfortable. The showers have great water pressure, we loved the ice maker and the large stove. We did have a couple items that were broken when we arrived (a kitchen sink faucet and a broken glass in the upstairs door) but nothing that affected our enjoyment. On our 2nd day the grinder pump alarm went off but I sent a text and Abbey sent a company to take care of the issue immediately. The deck is a wonderful place to relax. The only suggestion we would have is to heat the pool..that water is cold in April. lol We will be back and Highly suggest it to other families.

We had an amazing vacation. This home was everything we wanted and more. The location was perfect.

Our family of 10 stayed here for a family wedding. Everything about this place is amazing. The location and neighborhood is safe and convenient to everything. The house is beautiful, very clean, nicely decorated, and has pretty views. The pictures don’t do it justice. Bathrooms is every bedroom with a large group was a big plus. The pool is heated and the beach is a short one minute walk maybe with beach chairs and kid’s toys provided at the unit. We will definitely book this property again!

We enjoyed this house. We had 13 adults and everyone had plenty of space. The closeness to the beach and to the pool was great. The company renting was great to work with and answered any questions. We hope to come back!

This was the second time we’ve stayed here and will most likely book again. The house fits all of our group’s needs and is in a great location. Highly recommend.

House was as advertised. Good communication with management company. We ran out of gas for grill and they provided a new bottle promptly. There is a loose floor board at the top of the stairs that needs to be repaired. Enjoyed our stay, there was 8 of us and we had plenty of room. Per the management company they are installing fiber optic cable for the internet, which will be a plus.

My foundation offered its first Hope & Healing Retreat for moms who have lost a child to cancer, and we stayed at this property. It was absolutely amazing. The moms loved the property and remarked many times how beautiful and relaxing it was, and how much peace they felt once they arrived. Our private chef was very impressed with the kitchen and everything that was supplied. The close proximity to the beach was definitely a plus. All of the moms had their own space, and the sitting room on the top floor was perfect for our group sessions. We had a few little issues (mainly with crazy TVs) but those were handled right away and the management company was incredibly apologetic and helpful. This was a big undertaking for my foundation and location was key. I couldn't have asked for a better place to allow these moms an opportunity to relax and begin to heal. Thank you so very much for everything. We will definitely be back next year!!

Property was better than we imagined. We had issues with the stove. Management made it a Priority…They came within 15 to 20 min…..We will return in the future….Great Home

Oven not working. Internet very, very slow and will not reach all areas of home, outdoor tvs and sound system not there. Only complaints. Everything else great! Please get fiber internet...

This beach house was absolutely amazing for our large family. With this corner lot you have quick access to the pool and boardwalk, which is great if you have several kids with you. All the rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. My only complaint would be the bunk beds. The bunks are fine for adults but dangerous for little kids. The railings on the top bunk were not high enough and the lower bunk was way to high off the ground. We had to leave pillows down on the ground incase anyone fell out of bed. But with several families staying in one house, it was great to have a bathroom in each room and plenty of space. Will definitely want to stay again!

Love the cottages at Romar and the layout of this particular house. The property management company was responsive when we had some TV and WiFi issues, and they were resolved. Everything else was perfect!

What stopped me from giving an overall 5 star rating: at the time I booked the house it said handicapped accessible with an outside lift to the first floor. When we got there the lift wasn’t working (and hadn’t been since Hurricane Sally) unfortunately the website was never updated to reflect this and this was the main reason I booked this house. Being handicapped and not able to walk well or climb stairs, this posed a major problem for me upon arrival. This could have totally ruined my vacation. I give credit the property manager sent someone out the next day to get it working, but it didn’t do me any good that night. (Thank goodness I wasn’t totally wheelchair confined or I would have had to go to a hotel). Family had to help me get up 14 steps which was very hard for me. Additionally there was a walk in shower in one of the first floor masters with a small step up but no hand rails. Definitely not handicapped friendly. The lift worked but it took time for it to prime every time it was used . There were a number of other issues too: dryer wouldn’t dry clothes, doors not shutting or locking, dishwasher falling out of the cabinet when opened, stove vent not working and miscellaneous other things. While the property managers were very responsive and did come out to fix what they could, I feel for the cost, the home should have been in excellent working order. Routine maintenance and inspection should have been a top priority. On the plus side: The house was very pretty, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers. It was extremely quiet, the kitchen was well equipped with everything needed and we loved the close proximity to the beach and pool. It’s a great location. I’m glad to see the amenities listing has been updated to reflect it is not handicapped accessible.
