Absolutely incredible all-around. Deborah and Peter are excellent hosts and live one minute down the road, should you need them. We never had any issues, but it was comforting knowing they were close by, in case we did. They were happy to answer any questions and were always easy to get ahold of via call or text. They are professional, cheerful, welcoming, fun, and kind. Great people make any stay much more enjoyable! The apartment is stunning, has a fully-stocked kitchen, powerful AC unit, fast WiFi, hot water, washer and dryer, and is extremely spacious. It feels like a house! The on-site pool area is so beautiful, tranquil, well-maintained, private, and even has its own high-speed WiFi! The pool is always perfectly clean and is the perfect size with varying depths - perfect for any age. The beach is just a 3-minute walk from the front door and is also gorgeous! From the property, you walk down a short dirt road and are all of a sudden on the beach, which spans miles. Once you hit the beach from the dirt road, take a right if you want to head toward the beachside restaurants or go into town. Take a left if you want to head toward a much more secluded, private-feeling part of the beach. You can’t go wrong either way! The center of town in only a 10-15 minute walk down the beach or a 5-7 minute bike ride. A huge perk of the property's location is that you do NOT need a car. Everything is walking/biking distance, plus you get to enjoy a nice walk/bike ride on the beach every time you want to go into town. I could go on and on, but I’ll end by saying that we HIGHLY recommend this outstanding apartment and all it has to offer. Whether you’re here for a short vacation or a long-term stay, you will love every minute of it. Thanks again for sharing your slice of paradise with us, Deborah and Peter! We stayed for 9 nights and loved every minute. The apartment was very clean and well appointed. The location for us was perfect! The walk to the beach took about 2 minutes and maybe 10 minutes into Samara. We woke up early and walked the beach everyday before going into town for breakfast. It was cute being escorted to the restaurants or the beach by the local dogs. Waking up each morning to roosters, and other birds was so relaxing. The traffic outside of the unit was very loud, but to be honest, we were in town or exploring the area most days so it didn’t bother us. And at night, we were still able to fall asleep without a problem. So for us, the traffic wasn’t a deal breaker at all. The howler monkeys let us know they were there every afternoon and it was great to see them hanging out in the mango trees! We rented an ATV and had so much fun exploring the area and meeting people along our way. The apartment is close to a mini super (convenience store) and a fish market and we had fresh fish during our stay. We also took a cooking class with Christine at Christine’s Tropical Garden and it was amazing and so much fun! We ended each day with a dip in the pool to cool off, which felt amazing after being in the hot sun all day. Such a nice bonus to have the pool. We don’t usually leave a review for various stays we have been to in the past, but felt that this stay needed one. The apartment and pool area are both beautiful, Deborah was friendly and responsive to any of our questions, and even stopped by to say goodbye before we left! It is definitely somewhere we would return to when we visit again! Thank you for helping to make our stay so wonderful!

We stayed here for 7 nights and it was awesome! The pools is great we spent a couple afternoons just sitting by the pool in the heat and jumped in to cool off. So relaxing! The apartment was clean and the air conditioner worked well. It has everything you need for appliances, dishes and such and a laundry room with washer and dryer and a drying rack. Comfy bed. The walk to the beach was less that 5 minutes and the walk to town on the beach maybe 10-15 minutes. The ocean is pretty calm here and its the perfect beach to safely take a surfing lesson which we did and was awesome! They are some great restaurants in town that we had a couple of special meals at and enjoyed a fire show. Otherwise we bought groceries and made most of our meals. We found Super China was the supermarket with more selections. It's quite big. Our only complaint which wasn't a huge deal to us since we got used to it quickly was the traffic noise. It died off in the evening. We had howler monkeys move through the trees one afternoon which was cool as we were hoping to see some. And there are so many interesting birds around and some big iguanas to take pictures of. We would book again. Thanks Deborah for being an awesome host!

The unit is absolutely beautiful as shown in the photos. It is beautifully decorated and the kitchen has every appliance you need. It is literally a 2 min walk to lovely Samara beach. Walking along the beach to the town is relaxing and in town there are lots of restaurants to enjoy and mercados in which to shop. The pool is gorgeous, really perfect. If not for the road noise which can be loud from 6 am until evening and lumpy pillows, I would have given Deborahs place 6 stars. Deborah was very responsive and great to deal with. We hope to return .

Deborah was a wonderful host; she quickly responded to any questions. Everything we want in a property this has. We are not condo or resort type people, as we like our privacy, and as there are only two apts at this property, it's very private. As the road is down a slope, no one can see you. The pool is used only by the two units and there were many days my husband and I had it to ourselves. I loved watching the birds in the woods overlooking the pool, the mot mots were especially a treat to see! The only reason I gave the location a 4 star is because of the road traffic and dogs barking sometimes at night. You are truly in a Tican neighborhood. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. We have never been in a place that has so much to offer for such a reasonable price. Beach a 10 minute stroll way, city centre about 20 minutes along the beach. We've already booked for next winter!

A beautiful apartment, close to the beach with a wonderful Salt water pool. It is located on a very busy street, and there is noise from traffic and the neighborhood dogs.

Our stay was enjoyable. Roomy and comfortable accommodation. Enjoyed the pool and short walk to town.

We loved how close the apt is to the beach and town. No need to rent a car if you enjoy walking along the beach 10min each way. And there is a convenience store just across the road which was great to pick up beer and snacks to enjoy by the pool. The private pool oasis was much loved after a morning at the beach. Deborah is always very hospitable and receptive to messages or requests for recommendations. This was my second time staying here and would definately return again and for longer!

Great stay at Deborah's place. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and well kept. It is about a 12-15 minute walk to town on the beach. I was usually able to get a taxi home at night. Deborah was a great host. Samara is a really wonderful area to explore.

The apartment was clean and perfect for the two of us. The kitchen was fully equipped to cook anything you needed. Two full baths with ample towels and linens. It was great to sit on the balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee and read! This is a small property with only one other apartment so the WONDERFUL pool area is very private. Owner was very helpful! Also less than a two minute walk to the beach. Excellent Wifi if needed for work. Oh and once you get to the beach it is a short walk to downtown for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. etc.

We had an amazing time staying here. The apartment was lovely, the host was wonderful and the location was absolutely perfect! Easily walking distance to the beach and the town is quite nice. We would highly recommend this especially if it’s your first time.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 weeks in Deborah's apartment in Samara. After traveling a lot of Costa Rica the 3 weeks prior, it was a perfect refuge to close out our trip! We cooked every day, spent a ton of downtime in the house (the wifi worked perfectly for remote working), enjoyed the daybed by the window. The house stayed cool during the hot days and it was a 3 minute walk to the beach - perfect for morning runs or yoga on the sand. As in most places in Costa Rica, especially because the weather changed / rain came, you'll find ants coming into the apartment. Deborah provided bug spray and support - so it wasn't a big deal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

The location is ideal! 2 minute walk to the beach. 90 second walk to the store, beer and snacks. 10-12 minute walk on the beach for restaurants and shopping. 3 minute drive to the town. There are two units that share a wall. I blasted my music to see if the neighbors could hear it, they couldn't. They are very well stocked for cooking. There is a full bathroom with a tub on the first floor. The couch and window seat make excellent beds. There is also a full size washer and dryer on the 1st floor. The 2nd flood has a very comfortable queen bed, a 3/4 bathroom, and two decks. One with an excellent view on the ocean. The pool and sitting area is a mere 30 feet from the bottom of the stairs. A great way to end the day, or an after dinner/late night swim. This property is on a what can be a busy road, and can be noisy at times. The busiest time are from 0700 to around 1900 or so. For me that wasn't a problem as I did not come to Samara to sit inside all day. Yes there are dogs, and roosters, and they make noise. That's what they do. But the sound of the waves at night put me to sleep every night. There are also very friendly and nice locals. You're in a neighborhood, not a hotel district. If you want a cookie cutter vacation, do not stay here. Staying here you will experience the "Pure Vida" . Deborah was extremely helpful. She is a phone call, and 5 minutes away if you need her. You couldn't ask for a better host. I called her once, to turn the keys in and thank her for a wonderful stay. Another experience you might have are the Holwer Monkeys. She said they were loud. How loud can a little monkey be. I heard them 2 nights, once for about 5 minutes. and a gain 2 nights later for about 8 minutes. The 1st time I head them, I thought a Sasquatch was in my room! It scared the stew out of me. Once I changed the sheets, just kidding, I got a drink of water, and was soon put to sleep by the sounds of the waves. I can't promise you that you'll hear them, but that's part of staying in a neighborhood. Overall, this was one of the best places I've stayed in a long time. I will definitely stay here again. The beaches are fantastic. Carrillo Beach is about a 10 minute drive, and will not disappoint. As I said, there is some road noise, but I spent my time checking out dolphins, and surfing in the tree tops. Wingnuts which is below can arrange both for you. We loved staying in Deborah’s apartment for 3 days. It’s very spacious, beautifully setup and perfect for us while we were working remotely in Costa Rica. The attention to detail and tasteful touches are remarkable. The kitchen is fully stocked, and there’s even a W/D in the unit. Would highly recommend!

The owner was very helpful while we were trying to find a good place to stay as a family. She was very flexible to accommodate us and her house is at the perfect spot for all of Samara attractions. It is walking distance to the downtown and to the beautiful Samara beach.

I had seen apartment 2 advertised, when I requested to book Deborah told me it was being redecorated but I could have apartment 1 which was identical. It was, a super apartment that felt like home. It’s a couple of minutes walk to the beach and 10 minutes walk to town. I really liked the fact that it is airy and with the ceiling fans and mosquito guarded when Brownsville did not need the AC. Not a negative for me, but prepared to wake up early - the dawn brings an exotic bird chorus, the chickens next door kick off and it is quite a busy road. Would not hesitate to book again

We couldn't have asked for a better property and owner! The apartment had everything we needed including great architecture, a full kitchen, a laundry room and two bathrooms. It was a short walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk along the beach to town. Other reviewers mentioned the roosters, dogs and traffic noise waking them up so we were prepared with earplugs. Didn't need them...enjoyed waking up to a roosters crow. One of our favorite things was the beautiful pool and surrounding area. What a great way to cool off and relax at the end of the day. The other was the owners who couldn't do enough to make our stay special. Thank you, Deborah and Peter! We left Samara with wonderful vacation memories and new friends.

Hope to stay here again! This airy, well-decorated apartment is just a short walk from the most private end of the beach. The cozy oceanfront restaurants and bars of Samara are nearby. Mornings we watched monkeys forage for their breakfast as we had our coffee. The upstairs bedroom gets warm during the day but we slept well at night, thanks to the ac and extra wind-tunnel fan. It was just a perfect stay in every respect.

We had a particularly lovely one-month stay at Mardelindo Apts. The attractive and spacious unit is solidly-constructed and beautifully designed, with many ammenities that certainly cannot be taken for granted in Costa Rica. We made good use of the outdoor shower, washer and dryer, large kitchen, gas grill, and uniquely private and pretty pool/rancho area. We enjoyed each morning rocking in the chairs on the balcony off our bedroom and sipping our coffee, while with ocean sights and sounds in the background, we watched and listened to the people and wildlife (birds, squirrels, monkeys) of Matapalo begin their day. Then off to the beach, a short walk down a dirt road, for a few refreshing morning swims and a walk. Mardelindo's proximity to the local market, pescaderia, and Samara town is excellent; we much enjoyed the 20-minute walk on the beach into town - by day, we cooled off by popping into the water on the way; by early evening, we enjoyed the beautiful views of the sky over the ocean as we strolled while the sun set. It must be noted that Deborah, the owner, responded immediately to a problem with the refrigerator, and it was corrected in a timely manner. We greatly appreciate both her and Peter's efforts throughout our stay. We hope to return!

We knew from prior reviews that the location was noisy (and it sure was), but as we wanted a location with easy walking accessibility to the beach, town etc. Upon our arrival we both felt the location lacked the security we had experienced in some of the other places we had rented, and during our stay this was confirmed when the other unit and business below was broken into (the apartment was while the renters were inside)! We were assured this wasn't a usual occurance and did trust the owners that this was true, but we were not able to get comfortable the rest of the stay. The pool area is lovely, but situated across a gravel parking lot and felt very disconnected from the unit. The unit itself was nice and had good amenities and a unique layout. Though we would return to Samara to explore the area some more, we would look for a quite location with more security and a pool directly accessible from the unit.

This place was amazing for our 5 night stay in Sámara. Less than 5 min walk to the beach and the pool to cool off everyday was key ! We will be back :)

We spent 7 wonderful days in this beautiful condo. Everything about the condo was exactly as advertised. Clean, well maintained, completed stocked with all the dishes, appliances, etc. including two beach chairs and a styrofoam cooler. The pool area was gorgeous and was definitely a highlight where we spent a couple of afternoons enjoying the sun, water, peace and privacy. We had a chance to meet Deborah the owner and enjoyed our time with her and her stories about Costa Rica. We chatted several times on the phone and everything went very smoothly. Would we go to Samara again, yes absolutely and this would be the place we would come back to over and over again. Pure Vida.

I had a lovely stay in Samara. Its a little slice of heaven and this apartment was perfect for my needs. The pool is very pretty and private, the building is well taken care of (I saw daily maintenance the week I was there, which was during peek holiday time), the hosts were very responsive, helpful and hospitable. It is within walking distance of the beach and town, which was perfect since I did not rent a car. I can't wait to return to this beautiful place!

Perfect apartment for two. short walk of 10 minutes along the beach into Samara during the day and cheap taxi ride (1000 colones) at night. Also a close drive to the best beach in Costa Rica, Playa Carrillo is only 5 minutes away. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and well stocked to prepare your own meals. As other reviews have mentioned, it is close to the rode, so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The pool and pool area was amazing. Perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring. And it was a salt water pool as an added bonus. The owner lives close by, and owns a business below the apartment, so if She wasn't around, her friendly staff was able to help if we had any problems (we didn't), or to offer advice or directions if we had any questions. We would stay here again, and highly recommend this rental unit to others

The proximity of the property to Samara beach and the town center and the amenities offered with property were primary considerations for selecting this property. With a month-long stay planned, we did not want to rent a car for an extended duration, and we wanted to prepare most of our meals on premises. Although we rented a car from a local car rental service to explore adjacent beaches and beach towns, we found that the apartment was a perfect base for getting to and from the town center on foot. We viewed walking to town as part of our daily exercise routine. The apartment is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The apartment amenities were as advertised and in good working order and served well for achieving our objective of preparing meals on premises. The gas grill and washer and dryer are definite pluses. The private swimming pool setting is resplendent with native plants and pleasing tile work. The owner is friendly, helpful and responsive. All-in, we were extremely pleased with our choice of this property for our extended stay in Samara, and we plan to return for another extended stay.

We recently spent two weeks at one of Deborah's two condos and have plans to stay again. The condo has everything you need and is beautiful. The washer & dryer came in very handy, and the kitchen is well equipped. On our first day, we did have an issue with Wi-Fi but Deborah took care of it immediately. We LOVED the salt water pool, and probably spent more time there than the ocean which was just across the street! We also liked having a small bar/restaurant onsite. They would even deliver drinks and food to the pool! We saw more monkeys in the trees at the condo than we did on a jungle excursion. Samara is such a cool little town with a fabulous beach. Met so many people from all over the world. We will definitely be booking the condo again!

My husband and I stayed here for a week in February. It was clean and had all the basic necessities. Comfortable bed, 2 showers, a soaking tub and plenty of towels, including 2 large beach towels! I loved having a washer dryer. The saltwater pool was our own private oasis and was frequently used to cool off after walks to town and the beach. We did not rent a car and had no problem walking everywhere. The location is very good . It was fun and interesting walking through the village across the street to buy groceries or access the beach. I was able to do morning Yoga on the beach, and had the pleasure of a massage under the palm trees which was heavenly! We even got a quick horseback ride in (for cheap) that was amazing! The noise factor of the road out front was the only negative, but we used our sound machine app to solve the problem. Samara is a quaint little town with lots of cool shops and restaurants. We enjoyed trying different meals and appreciated the variety of grocery stores that allowed us to prepare healthy meals at home. I was happy we found the organic store where I could buy milk alternatives, Kombucha and wonderful baked goods! The Costa Rican people are very friendly and really make an effort to connect with visitors. I will certainly miss the beautiful beach, the sun, sand and warmth! It’s a paradise.....we will be back!!!!

I spent 2 weeks at Mardelindo Apartments. I found the apartment to be comfortable, spacious and modern. The kitchen was well appointed and had all of the dishes and appliances needed if one wanted to make meals at home. The apartment is close to town and the beach. From the doorway of the unit to the center of Samara is less than a mile walk along the beach and took maybe 15 minutes at a leisurely pace. There is a mini market, a bicycle rental and a fresh fish market all within an easy and short walk. The public bus stop is literally steps away. Internet is as good as any that you will find in Central America. A landline telephone is provided for local calls which is handy if one needed to call a taxi or get in touch with the owner of the property for any reason. A restaurant/bar is located beneath the unit I rented. The food here was very good. The hours of the restaurant were not intrusive. They open at 11 am and close at 9 pm. I visited during the busy dry season. If one is sensitive to noise when sleeping, perhaps earplugs would be a good idea as roadway noise as well as a cacophony of sounds from the howler monkeys, local roosters and birds chattering can be heard in the morning hours as the area comes to life daily. It can get warm inside the unit. Although the unit does have a AC unit, which I used occasionally, I was able to keep the temperature comfortable with the use of the three ceiling fans, opening the doors and windows and utilizing the sunscreens. Overall, I had a great time in Samara and enjoyed my stay at Mardelindo Apartments. I would stay here again and I would recommend this beautiful apartment to my friends and family.

There was a lot we loved about staying at this apartment. It's clean and beautiful. In addition to the loft bedroom, the sofa downstairs can be turned into a bed which was great for my husband who likes to take a nap in the afternoon. There are also two full bathrooms, upstairs and downstairs, which we appreciated. The apartment is a five minute walk from the beautiful Samara beach and it's a 10-15 minutes walk along the beach to get into town. A perfect distance for us to get some daily exercise. The pool is beautifully landscaped and a real plus. It's hot in Samara and it was a great way to cool off. The biggest downside was that the apartment is on the main road going to Samara and it can be really noisy at night. If you want complete quiet, staying away from the main roads is probably a good idea.
