I stayed with my family (11 in total), ranging from 8 to almost 80 years old. Whippoorwill was a truly unique property, and experience, for us all. The home and area are beautiful and there's so much to see and do on the property. The home is incredibly well-stocked and the owner was fantastic to work with. We'll definietly return. Highly recommend!

Absolutely wonderful!!

Whippoorwill is a wonderful property and perfect for our group of 10 people. The foliage was still brilliant and the weather was nice enough for us to grill one day. They have everything you could possibly want for cooking and recreation. The host and caretakers are very easy to get in touch with and are lovely people. We highly recommend this property!

The Whippoorwill Manor Farm was true to the photos as a beautifully and thoughtfully restored farm house and property, perfectly situated in the blue ridge mountains. So quiet and peaceful! It was ideal for our group of nine, and could clearly accomodate more guests very easily. There are plenty of physical activities if desired, including hiking both on and off the property. The pickleball court got some spirited use! The farm is also a place to simply sit, relax, and enjoy, with comfortable seating both inside and out. The farm kitchen is fully equipped, and there was ample seating to share meals at the indoor or outdoor tables. Recommend taking in the sunset on the upper platform, We had a campfire under the stars each night. Eric could not be a more responsive host, and he takes care of his guests in every way. I would unhesitatingly recommend this property to any group, of any age!

Our group of 13 ladies returned after 8 years for a weekend to recharge physically, mentally and spiritually. We wandered through the woods, enjoyed the pickle ball court and cooked great healthy meals in the very well-stocked kitchen. This farm is definitely a place of retreat!

We had a great time at the Whippoorwill Manor Farm. The property is amazing and the hosts and caretakers were great. The hosts have thought of everything in terms of amenties. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances, utensils and tools, and dishes, and the ice maker is a nice touch. Outside we enjoyed the sauna, game room, fire pit, ping pong table, bicycles, pickelball court, basketball court, hiking trails...all of it. Hope to return soon!

The property is spectacular. The house is well stocked, comfortable and had everything (and more!) than we needed. There was a ton to do on the property itself and hiking was a 20 minute drive. We will definitely be back again!

The house and property are amazing. The host has made check in and out very clear and is very easy to get a hold of and communicate with. My friends and I held a chamber music weekend and had a wonderful time playing and using the amazing kitchen. We’ll probably be booking again this year!

We try to come to Whippoorwill Manor Farm at least once a year. Every year new amenities are added and the house is well kept and clean. We absolutely love visiting and hope to be back many times in the future. This time we did a lot of cooking indoors, and they had every piece of equipment we needed. The owner/property manager is a super efficient communicator. Thank you for providing such an amazing place to build more memories!

We stayed here as a family and made this our home base for my son's wedding. It could NOT be a more perfect place to stay and we definitely want to come back another time. The house is very spacious and fully stocked with everything you could possibly need and more. You will not regret staying here!

We've lost count of how many times we have enjoyed 'Yellow House' as we call it. For over 10 years, we have gathered with friends and family at this special place and it has never disappointed us.

This property was awesome. It provided a clean, warm and nurturing environment for a treasured family vacation. We took family pictures with the beautiful background provided by the farm. Loved every minute spent here!

We had a lovely time at this property. The location was breathtaking and so very peaceful- a nice escape from our normal lives in the busy city! We were together for my parents’ 40th anniversary and there were plenty of activities nearby (wineries, hiking, Shenandoah NP, etc) but also plenty to do at the rental- hiking, ping pong, shuffleboard, basketball, darts, corn hole, honestly any game you could probably think of. We had a great time hanging out with the surrounding nature and Eric was extremely helpful and responsive every step of the way. Would definitely recommend this magical place!

The house has lots of room for family activities; games, meals, etc. There is a ring for making a fire for s'mores. Hiking abounds either on the property or nearby National Forests. We have stayed here several times.

House is well furnished. The kitchen was great. Rooms were very cozy! Living room with awesome fireplace. Bathrooms were great. Manor is good for small and big groups alike. Amazing outdoors. Will definitely come back!

WFM really is the ultimate mountain destination. The property is so gorgeous it's like a post card and there is every amenity and appointment imaginable. It's absolutely peaceful and we love coming here year after year.

Our church has been using Whippoorwill Manor Farm for Young Adult retreats for about 10 years now. We have never been disappointed, it is a wonderful place to relax and find restoration from the stress of the world. Eric is always helpful and at this juncture, has become a friend.

Look no further....this rental was sooo amazing! We traveled to Etlan for my daughter's wedding. We can not say enough about how spectacular our stay was. The home and property had a lot of charm with fun and unique amenities-from the porches and patios to the the numerous yard and recreational games, not to mention an amazing firepit. We enjoyed star gazing, roasting marshmallows and having our favorite beverage on the hilltop deck which overlooked the property and the beautiful mountain landscape. The house was very spacious (kitchen, dining area, bedrooms and living areas) with lots of room to move. Also, the beds were very comfortable-we all got great sleep. Eric is definitely a super host. He left a nice welcome bag and information about local points of interests, as well as supplying the house with many of the conveniences that you would have in your own home. My family had such a wonderful time, they requested that come here annually.

Our family enjoyed our stay with so many things to do in the area. The serenity of the house was relaxing - with fun highlights like the cows that got loose and wandered by. The generator kicked in during a brief power outage caused by a storm just as it should. The kitchen was a delight to cook in - plenty of space for several to move around each other. We highly recommend staying here.

We have stayed here before with our adult children and grandchildren in the beautiful Virginia mountains. They love it and there is plenty to do. The house is very clean and the kitchen is well-appointed.

We had a group of 10 and we had an amazing stay! The house is beautiful and comfortable. It is very well stocked with all sorts of activities. The back room with the memorabilia fascinated all of us. We absolutely loved the house and would highly recommend a stay here to anyone!

Great place to stay! I can’t say enough about it! With a large family we never felt crowded. Lots of activities provided. We especially enjoyed ping pong and shuffle board. House and kitchen are well stocked with everything you need. Inventory of house is very helpful in finding everything. We would definitely go back if the opportunity presents itself. We do wish the windows had screens to open them in the evening instead of running the air conditioner but that is a country gal thing. Lol

Whippoorwill felt roomy, even with 11 adults in residence. It's very well equipped and laid out, and the grounds are lovely. We'll definitely stay here again!

This was our second long weekend renting the “yellow farmhouse” in three years, and we were happy to return. There was plenty of indoor/outdoor space for the eleven of us to spread out over plus space for us to all be together. We made use of the trails, overlook deck, outdoor ping pong and the kids explored the big barn. We ended every night with a large fire pit and good conversation. The kitchen has all of the cooking gadgets & gizmos you may need (the pantry staples were sparse but I assume the house has been popular for weekend getaways from the DMV so it may be challenging to keep up), the grills are so clean they look new and having an ice maker plus beverage refrigerator is great for large groups in the warmer months. I know we will return this welcoming home again.

Our stay at Whippoorwill Farm exceeded expectations, which were already running very high based on photos and previous reviews. No swimming pool, but nearly every other conceivable outdoor recreation was available for the 7 grandkids, ages 5 to 12, and the Slip and Slide we brought and set up on the hillside provided cool, wet fun on hot afternoons. The kids could not have been more excited about the communal bunk room, and the elders were delighted with the many porches, patios, and cool indoor spaces for quiet relaxation. The kitchen was better outfitted than our own kitchens at home, and the ring binder full of information about everything from Safety to Shopping was both helpful (look under "M" in the exhaustive index to find out where, exactly, to find the matches) and interesting, offering a short history of the farm and its transformation in recent decades. This was a GREAT place, and it provided what will surely be lifelong memories for our COVID-weary group!

This place was amazing! It was peaceful, quiet and very well stocked. Eric was fantastic at communicating and the house had everything that you could possibly need. It was very clean and we had an amazing time! We would love to make it an annual trip and hope to go back, again.
