This is a huge house with ample space for a large family with a lot of children. Amazing location, dock and yard located on a great small cove just off the main lot. Owner was very accommodating and quick to try to resolve issues that we had. Was a great space for our family.

Great house for families. Enough space and separation for both the kids and adults. The top floor was perfect for all children to sleep and play. The basement was great for the adults, the poker room was bigger than shown in the pictures. Main floor had the big kitchen, which was big enough for several people to work it at the same time and was fully stocked. We were lucky with the weather in December, so also got full use the fire pit, the dock and the kayaks. Owner was very responsive, answering our questions right away.

We gathered for the annual retreat for our arts organization to celebrate a successful 2022 and begin planning our activities in 2023. This location was very spacious and relaxing. It met all of our needs for gathering and discussion during the day and recreation in the evening. Big thanks to the wonderful host!

This spacious house was perfect for our large family to stay for a few nights. The house has enough beds and fully equipped kitchen for everyone. The view of the lake is beautiful and there are tons of activities to do depending on the season. We enjoyed the hot tub and taking a walk around the area. The huge kids room and game room was a big hit amongst the kids. The owners are very responsive and easy to communicate with. The house could be better organized and way less cluttered. Other than that, we had a great time and would recommend for large groups.

We had a group of 20+ family and friends staying at tropical paradise. We had an awesome time! Sondra and Lupita were friendly and very easy to work with. Would definitely recommend staying at this property.

Property ID 1163051, Titled” 7500 sq ft, 20+Beds Kayaks/Paddle boards for rent on location- Pets Welcome!” First off, my family and I are accustomed to taking week-long vacations and have done so for over 20 years; I have left reviews for almost every place. I have never had to write a review such as this – so much to say. Grab a beer, this will be a long one. I want the reader (you) to understand my frustrations with this place so that you are better prepared for the experiences you will encounter when you rent it. Secondly, I should tell you that we are your typical middle-class family, comprised of approx. 18 people. None of us are the fancy, “I’m better than you” type, nor can we afford to be. We all save our money each year to experience one week-long get away per year. This property was our destination this year – I’m sad that our memories are already tarnished by the filth discovered within this property. Here is my listing of issues encountered: Bottom floor: 1. Bottom floor was completely covered in these small caterpillar-like creatures. We picked up a few the first day and by the end of the trip, there was literally 100’s of them. Each bedroom and bathroom and kitchenette had them crawling all over. Main Floor: 1. Main floor kitchen, one bottom drawer is broken and doesn’t slide in – deff don’t pull it out. 2. Main Floor kitchen Ice maker in the door doesn’t work and never produced a single cube while we were there. 3. False Eyelashes were left on the counter in the main floor’s bathroom by previous guests (health hazard.) 4. Under cabinet lights in main kitchen area are wired unprofessionally, drape down and lack any means to turn them on or off. 5. Sunroom doorknob doesn’t latch. You must use the deadbolt to keep the door closed. 6. The sunroom AC never worked while we were there and was turned into a storage room as it was unusable for normal 7. Grill on main floor was very dirty and debris in bottom of grill caught on fire and had to be extinguished. We had to clean the grill before we could use it. 8. Main floor kitchen was absolutely disgusting upon arrival and required us to clean several dishes upon arrival. Counters and glass table had obviously been gone over with a dirty sponge or washcloth. Hand and fingerprints all over the table made it hard to believe it had been cleaned at all. 9. Multiple stools on the main floor have either loose or missing bolts and are very wobbly. Third time’s a charm. Our third Christmas at tropical paradise and our family had a great time. The weather was beautiful and the hospitality was exceptional. Looking forward to next year.

This house on Lake Gaston has a great location - in a small cove, which was calm for swimming and paddle boarding, but also with a terrific view of the big lake water, too. With three stories, plenty of bedrooms and three kitchens, the house worked well for our family group of grandparents, children, grandchildren and great grand-children. The house is also well located for our family, as some drove in from upstate NY, others from Georgia and several flew into Raleigh. Our week together in July was excellent and we did enjoy the opportunity to get together after many long months of COVID precautions. The house is well equipped for feeding a large group, with two new grills, three refrigerators, and plenty of kitchen tools and equipment. Every game table was used - frequently. About the only thing we did not do was toast marshmallows by the campfire. The owner responded quickly to questions. She also advised us not to over pack, as the everything we might need is available at the house. We found that was true. It was a great week at the lake!

This was our second family vacation and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Centrally located and on the water With plenty of space to sleep, eat and play, is just what my family loves.

The house was spacious and it met all of our needs. We were able to accommodate comfortable sleeping arrangements for 25 women. Bathrooms and Kitchens were Beautiful! The Bedding in most of the rooms could be updated but were clean. Great home for multiple families to share.

I have stayed in rentals for the last 8 years, they were not prepared for us to check in on time. The house was filthy, bug infested, literally thousands of centipedes crawling all over bottom 2 floors, you would sweep and they came back, in bedrooms, bathrooms and main living space. WiFi did not work and one refrigerator did not work, we found out the hard way. Overall disaster. First bad experience in 8 years.

Booked this house and a nearby one for a weekend getaway with some college friends. The house has an amazing setting. Almost everyone in our party spent all weekend on the roof of the boat house in the 90 degree sun. The lake is perfect for swimming this time of year as well. (Usually we all go to the outer banks, where the water is way too cold to swim.) At night, the firepit and loft were a great place for people to hang out ad cook smores/play ping pong. Additionally, Sondra was super accessible at all times to help us with whatever we needed. Will definitely be back in the future!

We had a women's retreat. It was very comfortable for our large group. The owners were very accommodating and easy to work with. The location was great and the house was beautiful!!

This was a great house and the lake is beautiful, but the kinks had not been worked out yet. We were very pleased with how quiet it was in the bedrooms and the kitchens were very well stocked with cookware and dishes (other than coffee mugs) even for 24 adults! The boathouse is great!! The first problem we encountered was the linens and towels (which we paid extra for) were definitely not hotel quality and were not ready when we arrived due to issues with the cleaning service. Definitely skip the boat, it is pretty rickety! It broke down on the first trip, so we had to get a refund and rent one from a marina. This is the first season the house has been rented, so the interior is brand new and very clean, however, there were no towel racks or toilet paper holders,no rails on the lofts, and of the 3 kitchens, one had a fridge that didn't work and another had a dishwasher that wasn't hooked up. Definitely need more trash cans for that many people!! Most of the outdoor items (floats, etc) were dirty and well used.The grills were VERY dirty! There isn't much flat area in the yard.

We had a great time at Tropical Paradise. The owner Sondra was very helpful. The house is brand new and was in perfect condition. There was plenty of room for our very large family. We would definitely return next year!!

Great place for large families! Large kitchens facilitated “easy” meals. Good that all families had access to comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms.
