The unit itself was nice but in serious need of updates. All furniture and appliances aged and appear to be old. I wouldn’t stay here again based on that.

Speaking of location, did I mention this great property is downtown within walking distance to shoppes and restaurants. Top. VRBO location we’ve stayed in!!

Location can't be beat, it's secure and quiet, and the basement parking garage is an absolute bonus! My only complaint is the TV & wireless. Rather complicated and v slow to access streaming apps. One night it took us 1 hour to sign in and stream shows on PBS...never could get signed into ESPN+. Would love to see a new TV setup on next year's vacation.

Two issues the towels for master bath were permanently stained and needed to be replaced. Also garage entry keypad was difficult to get to work. This was acknowledged by the property manager as a problem most guests have. C’mon guys replace the thing.

This unit is located in the heart of downtown just steps from many restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, etc. Wake to the sound of the steam train (around 8:30). When we reserved the unit we had a party of seven however three people had to cancel which left two adults and two kids sharing this unit. We had plenty of space for four though I think seven would have been a bit cramped. The unit is definitely great for families. There are bunk beads, games, paper for drawing, puzzles…. I also noticed a crib in the primary closet. The beds were very comfortable and we had no trouble sleeping in. Although the unit was superficially clean (linens and surfaces were fine) it really needs a deep cleaning. The unit is dated, probably from the 90s, and the carpets are dirty as well as the tile. I would not feel comfortable walking around barefoot and always wore socks or shoes until I entered the bed at night. The kitchen dishes also did not feel clean. We found several dishes and utensils that had put away clearly soiled. We washed every dish before use. Overall this was a positive experience and I would consider staying again though the kitchen is in need of a deep cleaning especially considering the nightly rate.

Great property! Loved everything about this vacation rental. Walkable to everything in downtown Durango. Enjoy shopping and dining without every getting back in the car. Check in was so easy. The communication from property management was timely, clear and informative. The unit was very clean and fully stocked with everything you’ll need. We really enjoyed our stay.

We encountered only one problem during this stay. It related to a faulty security code or security hardware. The property manager was very diligent in response. However, we were inconvenienced for a couple days until a solution was provided.

Perfect setup for a large family or two families sharing a spot. Beds were very comfortable the condo was spotless and one block from Main street with top restaurants less than a block. Will definitely book here for next trip to Durango.

Reviewer Comments: I believe this was our fifth stay at the Mears House...you just can't beat the location, it is our favorite place to stay when in Durango! The new wood flooring in the main room is beautiful but the stairwell carpet is still old and dirty looking. The reclining chair in the main room is still broken and has been since the first time we stayed there. All bearable things but our guests using the smaller downstairs shower complained that the drain was so plugged that the tub filled over their ankles while showering! One of our guests reached in the drain and pulled out a huge wad of hair and fixed the problem! Just wonder how the housekeeping crew could properly clean a shower/bathtub and not notice a problem with the drainage?Bottom line...would we stay there again? Absolutely! The location is fabulous and within easy walking distance to 75% of the places we visit while in town. PS---Would really appreciate a little later checkout time, say noon. It's always difficult to get up, pack, and do the requested chores on the last day of your vacation!

This is the PERFECT location for a stay in downtown! The kitchen is stocked with necessities, but if you’re like us and prefer to order in, you can pickup dinner from tons of downtown restaurants that are all literally within a 5 minute walk! Loved it

The only problem we had was with the heat/ac unit. It was very difficult to regulate. At times our only choice was to turn it off with the switch by the unit itself.

I wasn’t happy but 7 days with no heater wasn’t an alternative. What upset me most was that they wanted to bring in space heaters without consulting us. Very unprofessional for such an upscale property.

Our stay was perfect. Super clean and a great location to all the shops & restaurants. The coffee maker broke and they promptly got us a new one! The only “downside” was the garage code system was tricky and wasn’t always easy to punch in. Other than that was stay was flawless. Thanks!

We keep coming back because it has all the conveniences of home and very comfortable. And did I mention location? You can leave your car in the secure basement garage and walk to all the great spots in downtown Durango! The location offsets the somewhat high price...we find it's worth it!
