Looking at the pictures, I didn't actually expect that much from Haka House - we booked because it was quite affordable and we needed to leave at 0400 the next day. Was surprised with how spacious and comfortable the place was however. Private room with bathroom was spacious and well equipped, communal areas were large and had everything you need. Even a free pool table in the main one. There's a few cute wine bars opposite the venue, and you're a 15 minute walk to the city centre. Do recommend!

Hochwertige Küchenausstattung, sehr sauber, bequeme Betten, gutes WLAN, Billardtisch, gute Lage am Rand der Innenstadt und direkt neben dem botanischen Garten.

Etwas Hostel Programm um den sozialen Austausch anzukurbeln wäre schön. Das Mini Fenster im 6er Dorm hat kaum für ausreichend frische Luft gesorgt. Und etwas mehr als das eine Sofa in den Lobbyräumen würden die Gemütlichkeit sicher steigern.

Very comfortable beds with privacy curtains specifically designed for hostels. It was nice not to feel anything when the person above you moved or climbed down the steps. Ensuite bathroom was a great convenience. Gas stoves in the kitchen

Very clean, great bed space and comfy mattress, a lot of bathrooms, super helpful staff, great feel overall.

Everything Clean and new I haven’t stay like this hostel. Not busy public area and many bathrooms so don’t feel stressed. Close to everywhere quite night had good sleep.

The atmosphere was very cozy and looking much better than many hostels, the beds are very comfortable along with good curtains for the bed (and windows), got cupboards for your things, while I was there they added a pool table inside the big lounge, the hostel located in the city's centre and even if the check-in till 19:00 they still got someone if needed.

There aren't too many comfortable places to work with a computer near a power socket.

Super vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel! Het is net gerenoveerd en ziet er top uit. De douches zijn prima en de bedden liggen heerlijk. De keuken is van alle gemakken voorzien. Locatie is prima. De bus vanaf het vliegveld stolt voor de deur en alles in het centrum is op loopafstand.

I had a single room with shared bathroom that was ok for one night considering the price. I liked the quietness at night when sleeping mainly. Nice building too.

Lamp in room didn’t work so had to have bright main light on. The nearest shared toilet was out of order. When the other toilet eventually became free there was no loo roll and rubbish was spilling out of the bins. No one on reception when I arrived at the not very late time of 7.30pm. Took me a while to find where they’d left my room key. Check out at 10am - though this early time seems standard in NZ. Reception staff in the morning were lacklustre and didn’t apologise for the lamp not working when I mentioned it nicely. They were more interested in chatting and joking with each other. The luggage storage the next day didn’t include a padlock so was worried my bags would be stolen. Mix of guests - some nice, some plain odd and serious plus the usual thing these days of people not talking or making small talk (hostels are not the friendly places they were in the noughties!)

The location, the staff, nice kitchen, with salt and oil provided, nice big lounge. Lockers in the room with outlets in them also usb charging by each bed.

Great location which is why I chose it

No on site car parking,BUT I was directed to a public car parking building which only cost $18 for about 30 hours

So hard to find a parking space around there

Brilliant location. Extremely close to central city and beautiful botanic gardens, museum, art gallery, etc. Good facilities.
