We have booked our stay at the hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday. We especially like the extra gesture they did to set up the room with balloons and a towel arrangement with petals on the bed with HBD. They even surprised my wife with a cake and floral arrangement. We service of the staff was exceptional. We enjoyed the service of Rahim as he took us on a romantic abra ride around the canals on the hotel. We also booked a couple massage at the Chi Spa and again my wife was surprised by another cake by the staff. This thoughtful service by the staff made our stay a truly memorable one. The price was also very reasonable. We booked for the half board stay and it was truly worth the price. Highly recommend.

The property gives off a more “back in time” and romantic feel. But the staff were just wonderful. Super friendly and warm. If you’re a guest at the hotel you get a free gondola ride as well!

Чудесный тайский ресторан, все очень вкусно. Завтраки хорошие, разнообразные, правда персонал, обслуживающий на завтраке, оставляет желать лучшего, все очень медленно. Уборка номеров хорошая. Чудесный бар у бассейна и ресторанчик на пляже. Расположение отеля хорошее, на территории отличный СПА, девочки просто волшебницы. Также на территории отеля небольшой торговый центр с супермаркетом, аптекой, кафешками и небольшими магазинчиками. Территория отеля ухоженная, красивая, внутри территории есть канал, по которому можно прокатиться на гондоле,прекрасный бассейн, в СПА также открытый бассейн, который работает до 23.00. В 10-15 минутах пешком расположен Океанариум и кинотеатры, а также масса разных ресторанов и супермаркет. Есть нюанс, который нужно учитывать при оплате, в отеле не принимают доллары старого образца, лучше поменять в банке и расплатиться дирхамами. В общем, отдых был позитивным. Всем хорошего отдыха.
Необходимо улучшить качество персонала, обслуживающего гостей на завтраках.

There are many things that i enjoyed during our stay in Shangri-La. First i have to give a shoutout to Fatima who made our checkin experience amazing! She checked us in early and made us a complimentary upgrade to Horizon Room. It was really amazing and the room, balcony & views were superb! The bed was super comfortable and bathroom very spacious. The hotel wasn’t too busy in June during weekend but even if sometimes the pool got busy, the beach area was always empty and very relaxing. Sunset views are lovely looking onto the Grand Mosque. We also enjoyed the free canal boat tour and got some pretty photos.
We got the half board which contains a dinner buffet. The buffet quality of food was 3/10, very dissapointing experience. There are no labels for allergens (Dairy free, Gluten free etc), terrible selection for Vegans, and most of the staff are clueless if you ask them anything about the food. That is not a 5* service. They were clearly not trained properly and some of them don’t even know how to speak to guests. My friend who eats all kinds of meats and dairy said that the fish was dry, chicken skewers overburned and even the cheese looked expired. Service at F&B and at the pool could also definitely be improved.

There are no good restaurants and vegetarian food. Food is very expensive, not worth it, shisha too not good for the price what they are charging

Beautiful location and very well-maintained property. Everything had a premium look and feel.
The gym was separate for males and females and was very small. The steam room was not working. Sauna and jacuzzi were quite small.

The stunning room, the Horizon club views from the lounge, the good quality drinks and the excellent services of the staff at the lounge. Beautiful area of the sauna and spa facility with rooftop pool. Exceptional friendliness and helpful service of the staffs and manager around the pool and beach area. The WhatsApp phone check up and professional help from Mr Abdulla during our stay much appreciated.
The loud JetSki noise up and down the beach, the obstructed view of the mosque by the new building construction, the average quality of the food in the restaurants we tried.

We enjoyed our stay in general. The two rooms I booked were very clean and stuffed with room essentials. I did not experience requesting for dental and vanity kit - everything was already available there.
In addition, we loved the short but sweet free private Abra ride. The staff assigned there helped us in taking photos during the ride.
We also enjoyed the free lounge access. The small buffet and overflowing drinks were on the house during happy hour.
Lastly, the breakfast buffet was huge. Although it was more of the sweets than savory breakfast. However, I am sure children would love it.
(1) I wish they would soundproof the room. We could here the trolley noise from the staff roaming around, people laughing next to room, even party noise from the beach front (considering that we are on the 6th floor), etc. These noises disturbed our sleep.
(2) It wouls be much better if the pool is not in front of the hotel's main restaurant. My two lady cousins felt a bit uncomfortable of the thought that the swimmers were being watched by restaurant's diners. There were even dining tables just 1 meter away from the pool. It felr awkward to run and play around the pool topless (for men) or with two piece (for women) while people were enjoying their meal.
(3) A little painting job is needed as the hotel is looking tired and old.

Hospitality of staffs. All staffs are good, specially Fatima in reception and Jem in Holizon club.
Shang palace restaurant was not good as expectation, compared other Shangrila’s Jasmine tea was served with wrong temperature hot water. I asked them to change it. a waitress doesn’t know how to serve Chinese tea. which is very disappointed because we as Asian, the reason selected Shangrila is we wanted to have real experience of Asian food and beverage .

We have stayed here before, loved the pool, the view of the mosque, pool bar for dinner, reception area & staff, most staff were great.
Comfy big beds, room cleaning was always quick and excellent.
The pool surrounding area was dirty and not cleaned during our 10 day stay. Really needed to be washed down properly daily.
The service at the restaurants.
Our table being given away (twice) at the Chinese restaurant - we arrived on time and were offered a table inside among the over flow of the buffet restaurant (two separate days). Buffet is an all inclusive option, yet to dine at the restaurant a family of five would pay upwards of £400 - yet share the service of staff catering to everyone.

Pool bar - Meals arrived but drinks were always much later (for easy pour drinks, not complicated cocktails this was unnecessary). Let down the service for our stay sadly.
The pool closing at 7pm, and the dinner set up around sun-beds, making you feel uncomfortable/unwelcome even - this began around 2pm each day.

The hotel was beautiful, the food in all restaurants was excellent , and the room was very well appointed, spotlessly clean and had a super comfy bed. The pool areas and beach were all very attractive and immaculately maintained. The very best thing about this lovely hotel though, was the staff. I travelled with my husband to meet my 87 year old mum there for a 5 night break. Unfortunately my mum fell Ill on the second day and had to be hospitalised. We ended up having to extend our stay for a week while she recovered, and the staff could not have been more helpful, caring and all round lovely. So very many of them asked me about mum every time they saw me. I felt very touched by their genuine concern. The manager has a superb team and should be extremely proud of them!
