I LOVED my 3-day stay!! The studio was so homey and comfortable. Best bed I slept into during my 4-week trip. Paolo is very caring, nice and personable. He prepared some complimentary goodies for me to enjoy - which is rare and such a nice touch as I hadn’t eaten all day and arrived late after a long drive. The studio is easy to access with parking nearby and a great location to explore Essaouira by feet.

Nothing, I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Paolo and Hakim made our stay comfortable in every way. The house was spotless and easy to find. Our flight was delayed by almost 6 hours. By the time we arrived to Marrakech Airport the car rental was closed and we had to find a nearby hotel for the night. Paolo was very flexible as we were communicating our delay and moving our arrival time until we realised that we couldn't arrive that night. We went to Essaouira to celebrate my partner's birthday. By the time we arrived Essaouira, and due to the delay and a rather uncomfortable night in Marrakech, we were quite tired and frustrated. That all changed as soon as we arrived. Paolo had organised food essentials and a lovely birthday welcome: a whole birthday cake! We were speechless! The wonderful welcome combined with a tastefully decorated house kicked off our holiday. The bathrooms were very clean, with excellent hot water pressure. The house is large enough for a family of 4, the beds were super comfortable. The balcony and terrace are great for sunbathing and give a good view of Essaouira, especially at night. There's a secure parking just outside the Medina's wall - literally parallel to the house position on the street behind it. We left our car there for less than €15 for 5 nights and took it out whenever we needed it. You can negotiate the price with the parking manager, 16 year old Muhammad, who has the sweetest smile! There's also a good local baker 20 meters away from the house and a carpet weaver shop whom you can watch at work and buy his handmade produce at a good price. The area is quiet, and the bedrooms can be made completely dark, which aids a good night sleep. We hadn't realised that we needed to print out our boarding passes for the return flight. Paolo came to rescue and pointed out the nearest printing place and other alternatives. The first place worked - a shop with a big sign saying they print boarding passes (for the likes of us)!

I loved accessible and easy communication with Paolo via WhatsApp. I received all the information about Essauira, parking and check-in in advance. So when I arrived there, then everything went smoothly. This apartment is like home. Stylish and comfortable with a cool roof terrace. It has a lovely tiny kitchen where to drink coffee and enjoy breakfast. I visited Morrocco during Ramadan, and some local places were closed, so the possibility of eating at home was nice.

Authentic home in the medina with lovely traditional decoration and extensive art/artefacts. Comfortable and cared for. Loved the roof terrace and lots of space. Excellent WiFi and helpful owner. Lots of good places to eat and loads of small shops.

Hard to think of anything missing. Maybe a few more stairs than we’d expected but great to have a house to ourselves.

We really enjoyed living in these apartments. It has a very unusual and nice location right on the edge of the medina and the new city. First of all, you can go to the main streets or port in medina very quickly. Also it is very easy to get a taxi from the shops or the furthest parts of the city here. We really love the terrace, which has view of the medina and part of the ocean! The apartments have excellent living conditions: a good kitchen, which has everything you need for cooking from nearest fish market. Also we don't have problem with a shower or wi-fi. The apartment has a very atmospheric design that have a lot of nice small details. And of course, I cannot but note the owner of this apparts Paolo which always have a contact with us for help and good mood! I hope we will come back someday :)

We were met at Dar 91 by the caretaker, Hakim, who let us in and showed us all around the apartment and up to the roof terraces. We were surprised, and delighted, to find that Hakim (or the cleaner) had provided us with a carton of milk and a bottle of water in the fridge, and also 6 eggs, some oranges, bananas and some freshly baked bread from the local traditional bakery. It was lovely to meet the owner, Paulo, during our stay. We immediately fell in love with the apartment! It was just myself and my daughter staying there, but with 2 bedrooms (one with 2 single beds and a raised small bed, and one with a large double bed) it would be perfect for a family with 2, or even 3, children.

The owner was very friendly, kind and helpful and organised, we were given a lot of helpful details about arriving and the area. The flat itself is beautiful and comfortable with everything you could need to feel at home. It is on a quieter, family-friendly street in the Medina with ateliers and a bakery. The best shower in Morroco!

The proximity to the Medina, clean, furnished, they even had an iron. Would definitely recommend. Very good price.⁸

You can't bring the car directly outside and it can be tricky to find the first time through the narrow streets. But there's Google maps.

Lovely, quirky, apartment in a wonderful location to be properly immersed in local culture. Very friendly host to meet us on arrival and advise us of things to do etc. And was available via WhatsApp to answer any messages we had. Very lovely guy! At the end of our stay, the other apartment was empty so he said we could use the roof terrace - a very kind gesture that not all hosts would allow. Complementary bread and eggs were a lovely touch too.

The bed wasn't super comfy, after a few nights I was ready to leave for this reason. Which is a shame because the layout is so 'different' and fun. The shower room has no window, due to the layout of the building, and gets quite wet after a shower so has a tendency to feel a bit damp.

Paolo is a fantastic host with great communication before and during my stay. The accomodation was excellent with a really hot shower and excellent kitchen facilities and a comfy bed. Outside there is a shop next door for cheese, sweets etc. & also a community oven where you can buy baguettes for 1 dh. All I'd add is that sometimes you stay in a place where you feel, 'I wish it was mine'. Dar 89 is such a place. Highly recommended.

Everything was set up for us to spend an unforgettable trip. Super spacious, incredible views...

good communication with host very quiet despite being in the medina a lot of space for ourselves and no noise from neighbours like in other riads they did the laundry for us nice rooftop terrace all the freedom you want

stairs are very steep and might be difficult to climb for elderly people the gas hub needs to be taken a bit with caution but is fine to use otherwise you need to take care of your rubbish at the end of your stay (in our case Paolo, the owner, we ran into took care of it)

We loved our stay at Dar 91. This is a unique, arty, comfy apartment within the Medina of Essaouira. The apartment is well equipped for a holiday stay and the rooftop terrace is lovely. The hosts Paolo and Jeremy are amazing and so helpful with any questions we had. A bowI of fruit was left for us as well as coffee tea etc. which was very much appreciated. Would highly recommend this apartment and would like to return if visiting Essaouira again.

I loved everything. I don't even know where to start, Paolo is an amazing host, he made the stay more pleasurable. He kept asking and checking if we needed anything days before our arrival. He showed us places to visit. As for the place, it's a piece of art, the most beautiful place you can ever visit.

Super nice and practical room with fridge, kitchen, bathroom, sofa and table in a quiet and authentic street in the medina. Extra blankets. The host provided basic but delicious foods and coffee powder for us to start autonomously into the day.

Bed was a bit hard, but totally ok.

Atmospherique and entertaining design with a lot of terrific details. There is no view from this apartment, though i was lucky to visit rooftop and it was really nice. Besides there are more or less everything you could need: fridge , hobs ( though don't think good enough for real cooking), plates, pots etc., hot shower, comfy bed. On top - all these nice things are available by good price. Thanks for creating such nice place.

Everything fine, just some small notes: There were high humidity and appropriate smell a bit. A bit dark and narrow shower place...with water always trying to run into the living room If someone has a problems with a back, mind the matrass is too soft

Super nice little apartment with a lovely roof terrace. Has everything you need for a nice stay. Paolo was super friendly and accommodating, making sure to meet us and show the apartment as well as giving us some tips on what to do. Really enjoyed our stay and would come again!

The house is just absolutely gorgeous. Spotless clean and three minutes walk from the Main Street in the Medina. Beautiful view from the rooftop terrace. Paolo the owner is always available to answer any questions or to help.

Mind the steps in the house: they are very steep and you need to pay attention. However, this is typical for houses here, especially in the Medina.

Great place to stay in Essaouira! The host was super nice and helpful. He really did everything in order for us to feel comfortable and have a nice stay at his place. It is a very practical place with a nice kitchen and bathroom, and on top of that, it is well located next to the main street. The design of the flat was really nice too! We will definitely come back, thank you so much!

Internet connection can be better as it sometimes loses signal but if used for browsing and not downloading/sending higher traffic is more than decent
