The breakfast was one of the highlights. Mavis is a wonderful cook and a lovely person to have a chat with. Domingo is a great communicator so everything from the booking to organising a taxi for us went really smoothly. And my husband and Frances (Domingo's dad) bonded over their passion for tea. Lovely family.

The day spent and stayed at Yellow and black guest house was something so special that we will never forget. Domingo, the owner of the house was the kindest, most caring, and friendliest person we can ever ask for as a hotel owner. My kids loved this place the most among all the places we visited in Taiwan and we will for sure come back to Taiwan just to visit and stay at this place again. Beautiful structure, an ex old farm for the production of tobacco. The adjacent structures are renovated as rooms to stay with comfortable beds, whit simple and rustic furnishings, like a country house. A splendid rice field on the front and the towering hills in the background created the atmosphere of rural life in contact with nature. The common spaces are pleasant, the room for listening to music is enchanting. The owner is kind and very helpful. Claudia’s breakfast delicious.

We had such a lovely stay here and would recommend it to anyone! Francis was the most welcoming host and Domingo (via WhatsApp) was very helpful and shared many recommendations. My sister and I spent 2 nights here. We didn't have a car but managed to get to and from Taipei very easily (train from Taipei to zuoying and then a bus to meinong and cab to the house- took about 2.5 hours). Once we arrived at the house, we borrowed bikes and explored the local area. There are many bike routes, the roads are great for cycling (even the big roads have a cycle / motorcycle lane, so it isn't scary) and the landscape is beautiful. We went early March and the rice fields were full of green. Domingo recommended lots of restaurants, our favourite was the Vietnamese (we had the cold noodles and Papaya salad - a welcomed freshness after lots of fried food in Taipei). There is also a really lovely craft beer shop in Meinong, their cider was really great. It looks like the shop have a tour with food and drink, suggest you look into this. Like all the comments note, the Guest House is so beautiful and well decorated. We have taken many photos to inspire our interior decorating at home. They live outside of town but there are some food shops and restaurants within walking distance. Claudia who provides the breakfast was very friendly and the food was delicious. Francis really went above and beyond as a host, he shared his tea, beer, local snacks - we couldn't have asked for more. We also loved the beautiful music room where we spent our evenings.

A fantastic experience in a traditional, yet beautifully renovated/decorated old Hakka house. Chatting with the hosts, enjoying the old vinyls in the music studio while sipping local tea, lazying under the very hot shower or reading on the individual terrace made for a delightful stay.

Some might find the toads and other fauna in the nearby fields a tad noisy, but that merely added to the typical experience in our mind.

Staying here is a unique experience. The old house has been wonderfully renovated. It’s old and austere but feels very warm and cozy. The property is surrounded by a working farm that grows tropical fruits, vegetables and rice. In the morning an old lady was transplanting pineapple plants in the field next door. The manager is incredibly friendly and welcoming.
