The place, the people and the animals are amazing. The house is beautiful, you feel that someone put all his heart into it. We felt really comfortable from the beginning, Bruno is a very lovely man, he welcomed us and explained everything and even borrowed us some tools, since we had to fix something on our car. We had a nice little breakfast and some cuddles with the dog and the pig. The showers were really hot, which was also very nice! We would definitely come back here! Thanks a lot for this nice evening/ morning!

The house is a concentrate of beauty. Furnished with incredible taste. The kindness of Bruno and his collaborators is unique, as much as the colors that fill your eyes. Excellent breakfast that you can enjoy on the terrace. Large bright room and all the necessary comfort. The location is good, a few kilometers from incredible ocean beaches, near Aveiro, a very pretty town and Ovar also pleasantly surprised us: many restaurants where you eat very well. Easy for visiting the city of Porto as well.

The property is fairly priced

We booked this place as it has been advertised as pet friendly and up on our arrival, unfortunately, we been made absolutely unwelcomed with our dogs. The owner put a tremendous amount of conditions on us which forced us to actually retake our luggage post check in and search for another property. Not only has it caused 4x more the cost, booking nor the owner issue a refund. We did not stayed in this place in the end as we felt unwelcomed with our pets, hence we packed and left. I recommend to owner to reconsider "pet friendly" advertisement to avoid similar cases in the future.

It is unique guest house with its vintage attire. I liked sitting on the back balcony, Quite pleasant.

Outlets on the balcony would be nice, so I could plug my computer in and work for a bit from there.

Me and my partner had a wonderful stay, Bruno was so helpful and welcoming throughout! The house is beautiful and clean and the breakfast was perfect. Great stay if you’re on the way or around the Porto area, will come back!

Very tasteful classic interior with magnificent color setting, spacious well equipped rooms, nice common space and a wonderful veranda. But most importantly, Bruno is an excellent caring host.

The privacy and actually the quality of the folks who have visited and signed the book- w/w/o pets… quiet and the interiors of a poet. Bruno was most generous of his time and concern for guest….

N/A- the necessary train and bus strikes- but that’s nothing to do with the wonderful Balcony Guest House. But since Life gave me a strike to bare I spent 3nights of the National festival of Sao Joao amongst the locals -families of OVAR- fascinating music and wonderful to see kids and elders dancing to the live folkloric Portuguese music made by Humans.

Dogs are welcomed.

The hotel has been beautifully restored, the most amazing colours have been used in the rooms, colours you would not normally see together, but they work!! Very, very quirky plus the bonus of a very friendly little dog and hilarious little pig. Fabulous place to stay.

The warm and friendly welcome from the hosts, the substantial and fresh breakfast, the helpful tour advice, the most comfortable and well decorated period touches and the pet pig Lola.

Such a beautiful house! I love that the house has been kept as true to its original state as possible. It feels very homely and has a lovely outdoor seating area just outside the kitchen - perfect spot for a morning coffee. We had the ensuite which was very comfortable and so beautiful with nice views over the small farm over the road. Very quiet even though our room faced the main road and felt very private. It's a 10 min drive from the beach which is a massive plus! We also loved that we were able to bring our dog with us and he was received just as welcomingly as we were. We are already looking forward to coming back in the summer!

We visited in the winter and, just like most old properties with tall ceilings, it can get a bit cold in the evening but there were heaters in the bedroom so we were very comfortable anyway. I was sad to find out there was no plug for the bathtub so I wasn't able to take a bath, shower only. This wouldn't stop me from staying here again though as everything else was perfect.

Everything was flawless and I'd like to thank Bruno and Martin once again for a wonderful stay in their beautiful guesthouse. I've been coming to this region for years, mostly for work, and Vintage Balcony is far and away the best place I have stayed. It's comfortable, spotlessly clean and truly feels like a home-away-from-home. The hosts were respectful, warm and thought of everything; anticipating my potential needs and very generously helping me to overcome some transport problems. Their dedication and enjoyment in hosting shines through. Breakfast was perfect - honestly the best bread I have ever enjoyed in Portugal. And the whole house is as beautiful and vibrant as the photos suggest - Bruno and Martin have clearly put a lot of work and love into restoring it to its original state. I stayed in the suite, which was gorgeous and spacious. My bed was very comfortable. And I really appreciated the location - close to where I needed to work, but also with 3 major supermarkets a stone's through away, and not too far a walk from the centre of Ovar. On my last day I cycled to the ocean - there and back in 45 minutes. All in all, I am extremely grateful to have found Vintage Balcony and I will definitely return... next time with my family and not just for work!
