It's very convenient to the slopes and the ski room in the basement worked out great to store everything. We had 3 families here with kids and there was plenty of space to spread out. The only negative was the tv in the was missing the extension cord, so it didn't work. We will look at booking this house in the future.

The kitchen was a good size and had many tools, spices, coffee and everyday items that helped us make our meals. Having 4 full bathrooms was great too! The hot tub was used and enjoyed by the adults. The location was great for our skiers/boarders! The downstairs exterior door and mud room was perfect to contain the wet boots and clothes instead of tracking it all in upstairs. Our group hopes to stay there again in the future.

Hot tub was in perfect working order. Basement entry room on the rear of the house was perfect for entry/exit to/from skiing. The only improvement would be to renew some of the mattresses. Some are new and in good condition while others are older and saggy. Overall the house was a good choice.

Our family vacationed at this property and it was in a perfect location for our daily activities. The house was spacious and accommodated all of us easily. Our only issues were that the home needed a deep cleaning as there were lots of cobwebs and small spiders in every room, a general disorder in the kitchen cabinets, sticky cabinet surfaces and a strong musty odor in the basement spaces. A couple of small repairs need to be done to the tile floor in the shared bathroom on the main level and a stone in the front steps is loose. The property managers were accessible and helpful. The location was great for our daily excursions to Blackwater Falls, Davis & Thomas and Canaan Valley attractions.

The cabin isn’t well kept: the fireplace in the family room wasn’t working, dishes weren’t clean and some were broken, the beds were all squeaky and uncomfortable, the lower level smelled and felt humid, and there was no cable. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves.

It was a great relaxing weekend away. Will definitely try to be back.

Location was fantastic for skiing. Adjacent to Timberline resort. Not really private if you’re looking for a romantic getaway, but perfect for a group looking for a nice comfy cabin. The house could use a couple updates, one of them being a deep clean; my allergies really flared up whenever I was in the house. Also, the fire place in the main living room doesn’t stay lit and the hot tub is a bit finicky. But overall we had a great time and we enjoyed the place.

We had a great time relaxing and enjoying nature. After being "inside" since March with no breaks, it was nice to go some place else with great hiking and nature all around and having nothing else to do but enjoy time with family.

This house is located close to popular hiking trails in the area, like Dolly Sods and Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge. The house itself is large and well-equipped. It was clean and comfortable. We were able to enjoy a nice little bonfire outside. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a getaway in the summer for some time in the forest!

Reviewer Comments: The Great Escape was a beautiful house, it may not look as such from outside but once you get in is enchanting. The big glass windows allow the light to shine in and one can contemplate nature from the comfort of their reclanible chairs. At night you can see the starts and moon through your window giving you the sensation that you are outside.
The only thing I found unpleasant was the noise of some neighbors. Quiet time is at 11, however there were people that did not respect this rule and if you are outside you can hear their noises and no one came to implement this rule. The noise takes away from the natural sounds surrounding you while you having a fire outside. Once inside I did not hear the noises.
