Located in the picturesque Devonshire town of Illfracombe is the Royal Britannia Hotel. Totally refurbished in 2010, the hotel overlooks the harbour and has 2 restaurants and 2 bars, offering cuisine from Northern China, Sunday carvery and bar meals.

Clean and comfortable.
It met expectation of what is essentially a pub with rooms.
Our Room overlooked the harbour so had excellent views.

On booking .com site it shows a parking sign so I thought it was on site and free. But an email after booking tells you where the car parks are so I then incurred a £30 parking charge for three days. On your own web site I looked at afterwards you do explain about the parking. But not on booking .com.

Location is ace, such a lovely hotel, bar etc
Breakfast area needs sorting out, more instructions regarding areas etc within the hotel, you get given them next door in reception but when you walk into the hotel/bar hallway it lacks information.

It was a little noisy because of bar outside but only went on until about 11pm.

did not like,reception was aggressive have declined our proof of discount and breakfast included
ruined by aggressive reception,felt like we were being scammed,this is the first time I have made an effort to write a negative review,I was totally put off this last minute reservation and I have learned a lesson

Wi-Fi didn’t work in room 15. Worked outside the room everywhere, just not where I needed it.

Staff were friendly. Breakfast was delicious and the carvery was superb.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The springs left indents on my skin
I could hardly sleep. My husband and I woke up in pain every day. It ruined our break.

Stayed here multiple times, with and without company, and this place is very good for what one pays, generous room, efficient check in, nice staff, good location, close to parking, warm and clean.
