We loved staying on Fiona & Andrew's farm, they were wonderful hosts. The cottage was clean and modern with enough room for 6 guests. We were welcomed with some homemade goodies and Fiona checked in with us a couple of times to make sure we were doing ok and to see if we needed anything. We were also greeted by their very cute black & white cat who was very friendly. Would love to come back again and really get to enjoy the countryside there. It was a welcome relief to get back to the cottage each night and enjoy the peaceful time there. We ate at a couple of the nearby pubs that Fiona recommended and they were all very good. Highly recommend Far Wicken Hall Farm.

Our family of 5 stayed for 3 nights in June 2023. The accommodation is absolutely beautiful! Clean, well appointed, very spacious, beautifully presented with stunning views over the countryside. Added touches were a kitchen table with a pot of tea, fresh baked treats, homemade jam, milk, bread, orange juice and fresh eggs upon arrival. Each bedside had bottled water, tissues, hand sanitiser and chocolates. The master also had two small bottles of wine and Lindt chocolate and guest slippers. The bathrooms had luxurious handwash and body wash. Quality appliances, towels and linen. Fully equipped and spacious kitchen diner. Hosts were absolutely fantastic. Couldnt be more helpful or hospitable. Fiona took our children to meet the animals one afternoon and we all fell in love with the beautiful dog, Bramble. Close to Saddleworth villages with beautiful canal walks, shops, restaurants and pubs. From here, 20 mins by train to Manchester. Far Wicken Hall is a slice of heaven and our favourite accommodation and location out of the 6 places we stayed in the UK. Thank you Andrew and Fiona for hosting us. We hope to return one day 🙏

This was such a fabulous place to stay. There was plenty of space for our family of 6. We felt like this was a perfect getaway that felt like home. Fiona was so helpful whenever I needed anything, she even had a treat for us upon arrival which was amazing after traveling all day. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Fiona!

Roosters crow, curtains are drawn, down the pine stairs into the bright kitchen for lashings of raspberry jam on dense savory scones, piles of sizzling bacon, and fluffy scrambled eggs with veg. Gulp the last drop of tea down and run outside. Smells like chamomile flowers and sweet damp hay in the morning breeze. Sun is up over the mountain and warms our pink cheeks as we run to see where the resident dog, Bramble, has got to, and where the cows are today. Fiona has been tending the chickens and generously shares 6 large fresh eggs she's just collected. Down the dirt road with the stinging nettle growing between tire ruts and past the neatly rolled and stacked hay bales, we see grey sheep freshly shorn and brown sugar cows expertly chomping grass and flicking flies with their twitching hides. Pick up speed down the hillside, strides turning to controlled gallops as we head toward the big pond. We skim stones and throw in dirt clods and dead sticks, broken bricks left long ago, and whatever we find for the satisfying “ SPLOOSH!” in the murky depths. We hang from trees leaning over the creek and test an old wooden bridge, grown over with ivy and grasses, for safe passage across. Now balance on rocks and build a small dam, quickly overtaken by the relentless force of a stream searching for level land. Lunchtime with slices of strong English cheddar and crisp pink lady apples, Thai chili crisps, and hazelnut chocolate bars. Find a spot alone in the house to read until the light pales and our eyes begin to squint - so back outside again to see how the sun has moved and where the pony, formerly in the west pasture, might be now. Wave hello to Andrew, who's working on the tractor, watch the sun dip behind the dark green mountain and swat a horsefly from our arm. Call “goodnight sheepies!” to the lambs on the hill and inside for Yorkshire roast chicken and root veg soup, with large soft white baps from the neighborhood market. Warm showers and fresh clothes and a family chat on the master bed to compare notes, wonder aloud, tease, cuddle, and be. Paradise on Far Wicken Hall Farm!

Wonderful house for holidays in the Rochdale area. Spotlessly clean with a warm welcome and fabulous tea waiting for us on arrival, even though we were late arriving. Quite remote but as long as you have a car it is easy to get into Manchester and to surrounding towns.
