great value, centrally located, friendly staff, impeccably clean. this is the only place on booking that I’ve stayed where it’s actually nicer than the pictures. I really liked how spacious it is and it also had nice lighting.

it would be nice if they served real coffee in the lobby instead of instant stuff.

I have very low expectations for this place since it's an old building in a neglected alley but my god, this place is CDMX stripped from gentrification. The rooms are very spacious, the view glorious and everything is perfect, The wifi was great and the bed was very comfy. I would stay again whenever I am in CDMX. You get clean towels and have your sheets replaced to. It's giving main character energy for real!

I liked everything because I managed my expectations but I can tell people might be weirded out about the old fridge and how slow the shower heats up.

Everything! The staff was wonderful, helpful, and accommodating. Location is perfect and convenient, only steps away from the metro and bus stations. The apartment is simple but has everything to meet all your needs for a very comfortable stay. It was our best stay our whole time in Mexico. will definitely stay there again when we go back to Mexico City and will surely recommend it to others.

there is a nightclub right in front of the building, active in the weekends. I could not get in any sleep, not even with earplugs, the party goes on until around 3am. So if you are a light sleeper, I would reconsider a weekend stay here. I had to leave earlier than my original check-out date and look for an other hotel because I did not want to go through an other party weekend without sleep.

Staff were excellent, good views, good wifi, very big rooms, extremely clean. Very happy about it.

24h security guy at the entrance. we arrived at this place at 06.00 and not only someone was there to leave our staff but they gave usbthe room at that time!! amazing!! the reception guy very friendly and spoke very good English!! nothing but the best!! location great!!!

Good apartment for the money, kitchen is useful, good space to work. If you are looking for a location right downtown where you can save some pesos and cook your own food, a great choice.

Entrance and exit was tightly controlled. Outside the window is quite noisy, you do not really get to choose when you sleep.

Staff is friendly and the room was cleaned every day. Most apartment rental have weekly cleaning service. The kitchen, tough barely equipped is functional. Sights, shopping, eateries, parks are all within easy walking distance. The building and surroundings seemed safe.

The apartment was pretty dated. Like 50's style. The kitchen was minimal, to say the least. There was a newspaper distribution center across from the windows, which was noisy and starts at 4:00 am every day. It's at the intersection of very big avenues which makes it difficult to get places, even if they aren't far. A minor issue: there is TV, but only in Spanish. Most other places have SAP options.

When I travel both domestically and internationally, I have three expectations for where I stay. I want the place to be clean, safe, and near public transportation. I also want to experience the place I am visiting in a way that someone who lives there experiences it. This means that I prefer to have some kind of an apartment, rather than just a hotel room. I wake up early and it is nice to have a first breakfast or a late night snack where I stay. The pictures on booking.com show you exactly what you get. The kitchen area includes two gas burners, a small sink, a refrigerator, a microwave and a blender. If you want to make morning coffee for yourself I suggest you bring some kind of a coffee filter and filter papers. I have a collapsible silicone cone filter that is used for backpacking. There are always a couple of pots and the table is set for three. There are some utensils for cooking. The kitchen is the extra. Now on to my three basics. The first one is cleanliness. Before Covid I was impressed that when someone checked out of an apartment, the cleaners took the woven cotton bedspread and the blanket off the bed and down to the laundry room to be washed. All the table tops are glass. They are clean and you can see that they are clean. Unlike Hilton hotels new policy for the United States, the maid comes in every day, makes the bed and cleans. This cleaning includes mopping the floor in the bathroom and in the area where the kitchen and the table are, if not the whole floor. The bed is a frame on four legs and you can see that the area under the bed is immaculately clean. The entire apartment has tiles. This is particularly good if you are allergic because even in the best of hotels, carpeting can collect various allergens. Because of covid sitting on one of the tables was a package of wipes, a bottle of hand sanitizer, and a bottle of surface sanitizer.

As far as I am concerned, there is nothing not to like. If Rick Steeves would write a guidebook to Mexico City, the Avilla would be at the top of his list. But please be aware, that this is a place for people who are street and city savvy. It is located on a one block street. The first time I came with a friend who had just had surgery, we needed to take a taxi rather than the metro that I usually take from the airport to the Hidalgo Metro station. I had to show the driver the little map I printed out so that he could find the street. In the wee hours of the morning, people are assembling La Prensa on this street. They do it very quietly and add to the safety of the street. When you approach the hotel from Reforma, you will pass a large multi-story 24-hour parking facility. There is always security at the facility. On the corner 24 hours a day you will see some men waiting with large motorcycles. This is the staff of a messenger service that operates out of that building. These motorcycles are sitting outside, watched by their drivers. This also adds to the security. The building is an older apartment building with ceramic and stone tiles. Like all older buildings, things can happen. There is one elevator which is operated 24 hours a day by a uniformed security guard. When the office and lobby of the hotel are closed, the door is opened and the elevator is operated by this man. If he is taking someone up in the elevator, you may need to wait a couple of minutes on the street. But the street is perfectly safe. I have stayed at the Avia 8 or 9 times over the last 9 or 10 years. The elevator has gone out of order twice. This time it was out of order when I arrived, so I walked upstairs dropped my luggage and went out for dinner. It was fixed by the time I got back from a quick dinner. But, like in any older apartment building, things can happen. I do not recommend the Avilla for the mobility impaired or for people who travel with very heavy luggage.

I have stayed at the Avilla several times over the years. Even before Covid the place was always immaculate. For my first trip after the lockdown, I decided to stay there again. My major reason was that because of the almost daily-maid service and the tile floor and the glass top tables, I knew it would be very clean. When I am in Mexico City I appreciate the kitchenette. I wake up early and it is nice to be able to have some breakfast before the city wakes up fully. What they added since I was last there was a Wi-Fi repeater which definitely strengthened my Wi-Fi signal. In addition, there was a package of antiseptic wipes, a bottle of hand sanitizer and a spray bottle of disinfectant. The towels were new and fluffy and they supplied very nice soap and shampoo. The street is it is on is a one-block street. Every morning from about 4:00 a.m. on there are people assembling La Prensa. I am from New York City and live across the street from a major five-star hotel. I assure you that the garbage collection at 4:00 a.m. even through my 14th floor insulated windows is louder than the assembly of La Prensa. There is also street noise. If you come from the suburbs or the country, this may not be the place for you. Stay in a hotel that has sealed windows and air conditioning. One of the advantages of the Avia is that the windows do open and I can get outside air. The security is excellent. The door is always locked and there is a 24-hour a day security guard / elevator operator. Every time I left he asked me what apartment I was staying in. In addition, when the office is open, there is a purified water cooler that will give you hot or cold water, some instant coffee and a few tea bags. I intend to return to the Avilla in July.

Nothing really. I could have used a good knife in the kitchen and a cover for the big pot. But then I do cook.

The street was quite ugly

Perfect location for both historical center and business one. Metro is just outside a hotel. Staff guys know English well. Snacks shop is outside a hotel. Extremely comfortable room! Come prepared for street noise and you will have a greatest stay!

Strong noise outside until late night (cuban music), but ear plugs can help. Although hotel locates near historical center - there were a lot of beggars, prostitutes outside at night. They can disturb you a bit.

It was very clean, the staff was nice. Walking distance to restaurants and Belles Artes.

Noisy - bring earplugs. Homeless people sleeping around the hotel but no bother.
